while he is moderately satisfied with his life as a farmer, karl can't help but long to have a more important role in the kingdom, wishing to participate more and offer his services rather than just farm. it is difficult for him to do so, though, due to the guilt he would feel if he left the occupation; he imagines his father would be distraught at the news. deciding there was no use in trying to fight it, karl continues to simply train in private in the hopes of at least being able to defend the farm if it was needed.

due to liking to be left to his own devices and finding the company of his pokémon much better than other people, he has a strong dislike for loud people, looking down on those who are boisterous and making a point to keep his distance from them. determined and rather ambitious when it comes to furthering his knowledge, the one way to get him to show a more jovial mood would be to discuss topics that interest him or to somehow manage to befriend him. despite the cold exterior, if someone manages to get close to him and earn his trust, he will become more talkative and friendly with them although due to his poor people skills he has never had someone become close to him before. since a young age, victor has had the bad habit of pushing away those close to him, afraid to show his true colours as he believes that would leave him vulnerable and have his mistakes on show.

history: born on the island of anglesey in wales, ryan was raised in the large village of llanfair with three older sisters. despite a decently large family, he was the only one with a mutation which made him the odd one out in his siblings. when his mutation was first discovered by his mother when he was twelve, she tried her best to be supportive of him but he didn't receive the same support from his father and sisters, being almost completely neglected by his father and facing aggression from his siblings. having to endure the treatment for years, his mother gradually began to be worn down by the constant infighting and struggled to remain supportive and still have a good relationship with ryan's father and sisters. eventually his mother made the decision to send him to the school rather than force him to continue having to endure the family. the strained relationship between him and his father and siblings led to ryan craving approval and interaction but it also made him afraid to form relationships in fear of them resulting in a similar outcome.

mutation: x butterfly swarming - his body has the ability to disperse and separate into a swarm of monarch butterflies which are all still controlled by him, like a hive mind. he is able to limit this to only certain parts of his body, for example, only having one limb separate and become part of a swarm but to do this he requires much more concentration to do so. by doing this he is able to evade attacks and reach areas he would otherwise be unable to reach via flight or small spaces that the butterflies can fit through. is capable of general insect swarming [x] but is inexperienced with that; the insects he can potentially disperse into are; ants, wasps, bees, beetles, and flies.

history: growing up in an extremely large household in wyoming, it was easy for monterio to get away with things and to go almost unnoticed, being the youngest of four. his mother passed away due to terminal illness when he was only young but his father didn't take long to remarry which severely strained the relationship between them and he always harboured hard feelings towards his step-mother which just continued to strain the relationship with his father. so, instead of that his relationship with his grandparents greatly improved, in particular his grandmother. in fact, his grandmother was the first one to know about his mutation, monterio preferring to share it with her rather than his parents considering his father's and step-mother's negative views on mutants. luckily he managed to keep it under wraps for a relatively long time until his step-mother discovered it and reacted aggressively which prompted monterio to flee. he remained hidden in the home at a small size so that he wouldn't be found.

mutation: x size manipulation - monterio is capable of manipulating the size of himself and others while maintaining proportions with varying intensity. manipulating his own size is relatively easy but in order to manipulate the size of another person or an object he needs to make physical contact with them and the length of the affect is limited, only able to last a maxiumum of two hours. however, the manipulation on his own size can last indefinitely.
weakness: monterio struggles to use his mutation on multiple things at a time and the maximum amount of time he can use it will reduce with the more targets being affected. furthermore, if he is manipulating the size of somebody else, the same affect will be applied to himself but this does not happen when he is only manipulating the size of objects. additionally, his size has a significant impact on his strength and durability; if he increases his size his strength and durability will increase but he will become a larger target and if he decreases his size his strength and durability will decrease. when he is badly injured it becomes difficult for him to utilise his mutation and effectively restrict him to whichever size he is at the time.

background: jean-baptiste augustin was one of the 30 million children orphaned by the omnic crisis. with limited opportunities and resources, he enlisted in the military. the caribbean coalition, a pan-island force formed in response to the crisis, became his new home. guided by his innate desire to help people, baptiste chose the path of a combat medic and served in an elite branch of the caribbean coalition’s special ops. after his service was complete, baptiste struggled to find a demand for his unique skills. he turned to one of the few opportunities open to him: joining the talon mercenary group, one of the many organizations that were poised to profit off the chaos in the war's aftermath.
for the first time ever, baptiste had a taste of the good life. talon's missions were easy and paid well, and he put aside some of his earnings to set up a clinic in his hometown. but slowly, his unit's orders escalated in brutality, expanding into assassinations and operations with civilian casualties. confronted by his team's actions, baptiste realized he was perpetuating a cycle of violence like the one that had destroyed his own community. he abandoned talon, disgusted with what he had done and determined to forge a new path for himself. but talon would not let him go. baptiste knew too much, and they sent operatives after him to silence him. agent after agent came for him, including baptiste's former comrades. to stay under the radar, baptiste drifted from place to place, aiding in humanitarian efforts around the globe. the few talon members who managed to track him down were never seen again.

history; born and raised in roscommon, ireland, lilley had a fairly average childhood growing up with both parents seemingly happily married, her mother was a part-time bartender and her father was a full-time pharmacist. due to her father working full-time and having the tendency to overwork and not get home until late, lilley had a stronger attachment to her mother who made an attempt to spend enough time with her. her mutation was discovered at the age of twelve when her mother was driving her home from a day out; they had gotten into a car crash which badly injured lilley and her mother but not fatally. unfortunately, the multiple cuts and bruises on lilley led to an eruption of sorts which wasn't harmful to lilley but did result in her mother's death and the near-destruction of the car. initially in denial when he heard of the accident, her father finally accepted that the it was due to lilley's mutation when she returned home with her cuts and area around them forming into volcanic rock. following the accident, lilley and her father moved out of roscommon and into foxford. although her father tried to be accepting and supportive of his daughter being a mutant, the loss of his wife and hostility from the rest of the family led to him becoming depressed, prompting lilley to gradually have to adapt to being more and more independent.
