from a young age, no one really cared much for reese. he was the younges
t of five brothers- the runt, the accident. while his siblings were already p
ulling their own weight, he was just a baby who needed someone to love h
im and care for him. apparently that was too much to ask for. wide, innoce
nt blue eyes shining with tears threatening to spill over, small hands reachi
ng out for his mother's in a desperate grab for comfort, .but slapped away.
that little boy quickly learned that this is a kill or be killed kind of world a
nd if you can't take care of yourself, no one is going to do it for you. asking
for help is pointless and helping others is a waste of time. even despite his
harsh upbringing,. reese has this sort of gentle nature that he's tried for ye
ars to repress. he's learned to hate that part of himself that still wants to r
each out, still wants love. he's so scared of that hand-- now strong, rough,
scarred-- to see it tremble as it grasps for something he can never have. to
see it slapped away, to be rejected. that's why he's decided to reject first.

ever the optimist, cloud faces life with gen
tle blue eyes, a warm smile, and a sugary s
weet demeanor. those who know him find i
t hard to imagine a time when cloud wasn't
so positive and lighthearted, though such a
time does exist. from a tender age, this boy
has been faced with immeasurable hardship
as he was orphaned, outcasted, and treated
like an animal for things he just couldn't he
lp. throughout most of his childhood, he ca
rried himself with a scowl and a chip on his
shoulder- everyone was the enemy. it wasn'
t until a kind older woman took him in from
the streets that he realized how hollow his
outlook on life was. she always enjoyed the
little things-- slow, peaceful walks on the o
utskirts of town and tending to her little ga
rden. she taught him how to cook for himse
lf, patch up his wounds, take care of anima
ls-- but most importantly, she taught him to
be kind. she helped him unlearn all the har
sh lessons he'd been taught and see the wo
rld-- see people-- in a whole new light. eve
n as she lay on her deathbed, just an old w
oman with no one but a mangy, angry home
less boy, she smiled. she smiled and she pat
his hand ever so carefully, told him "now do
n't look like that, i'll be just fine. you just r
emember what i told you, dear. everyone h
urts at some point or another and all we ca
n do is carry on and help each other. kindne
ss is the thing that makes life worth living."
these days, he's much less gloom, doom, &
rainclouds-- now he's more of a gentle bree
ze, an uplifting wind that tells you everythi
ng is going to be okay. it's still difficult som
etimes to fight who he used to be, to overc
ome all that bitterness and pain, but it's so
worth it. all he wants out of life is to give b
ack-- that old woman blessed him, and it's t
he least he can do to go on blessing others.
