Scorpionstar’s story starts right after the fall of Speckledfur. His parents were valiant warriors who had earned their names as warriors when they had assisted Coyotestar in the destruction of the clan’s greatest threat. They had fallen in love as loners and had lived their lives together, assuming that they would never birth kits into the loneliness of the desert, aside from their single kit they had already birthed. When they joined the clan, however, that promise shattered and soon another kit was born. Scorpionstar was born alongside Riverkit and Moonkit but both were sadly stillborn, only given names so that they may join the ranks of Starclan happily. Scorpionstar, however, was healthy in all regards and grew quickly. He was skinnier than most kits, earning him his name, and his tail was unusually lengthy and thin. As he suckled it often curled up over his head, making him appear almost as if he had a stinger. He never grew into his tail and as a paw, it created complications in his training. He wasn’t as balanced as most other cats, struggling to figure out exactly how to work his lengthy tail. It often quivered, stirring the grass around him so that prey heard him coming long before he was close enough to make the fatal leap, but the young apprentice didnt give up. Determined to become a warrior at the same time as his denmates, he worked extra hard figuring out his tail. He learned slowly how to balance properly and instead of holding his tail straight when he hunted, he curled it over his back, giving him an even greater appearance of a scorpion. He accomplished his goal at 12 moons, becoming a warrior with his denmates. He earned the name Scorpiontail thanks to his strange hunting techniques. He worked hard as a warrior, even after the untimely death of his parents who were killed during a fight with a coyote. He mourned their deaths but not once did he stop working on his warrior status. He had earned so much respect in the first year as a warrior that he began to lead patrols on his own as well as hunting parties. He refused to return home without at least one or two items of prey, this included in the cooler months of winter. He often helped the medicine cats collect herbs, tended to wounded outside of the camp and helped kits in need of assistance. He became loved by his clanmates and shortly after the disappearance of their deputy, Coyotestar named him deputy. Though he was young for a deputy he raised to the challenge, keeping his head on straight and keeping the clan organized, but nothing had prepared him for the death of the leader. Coyotestar succumb to infections after a deadly bite from a ragged loner, and lost the last two of her remaining lives, leaving the new deputy in charge of the clan. He is still uncertain as to why Starclan gave him his nine lives as he has never felt as though he was prepared enough for leadership and often he seeks counsel from his close companions and older warriors.
