Bella was first seen at a party by her owners. She was being fostered, and was brought along with her foster-brother, Rangler. When Ed saw her, he instantly fell in love. The two hit it off instantly, running around the yard playing and just hanging out. Ed asked his mom if they could adopt her, and his mom agreed, having also fallen in love. They talked to the foster parents and arranged for her to be adopted a week later.
When they brought her home, she was nervous, but soon settled in. She was at odds with her new family's cat, who gave her the scar on her nose. They soon came to an unsteady truce. Bella chewed a lot of things, including all three childrens' stuffed animals they had since they were babies, a lot of blankets, and all the pillows for the sofa. Even though she did this and drove her family crazy, they never stayed mad for long or hit her, instead forgiving her because she was just a puppy.
She had her quirks. Bella was hyper, running all over the place and playing with every toy, and would have to run up and down the hall a dozen times before she could go to bed. She didn't do well with anyone coming near Ed or his mom, and would lose it if someone came to the door. She was extremely dog-aggressive, and was terrified of men.
She was afraid of empty water bottles, the broom, and the vacuum. She was afraid of spiders and phones vibrating. She loved to eat dirt, grass, and tissues, as well as french fries. She took up the entire bed, would demand to sit in your lap in any chair, and would act like you hated her if you didn't pay attention to her. Bella's family loved her.
So when the day came where they had to give her up, it was unimaginable. They pretended to give her up, but instead hid her in the house. They all pretended to act sad and depressed, even though they still had their friend. When she ended up barking one day, the authorities were called, and they seized her by force.
She was horrified to say the least. She refused to eat, and would bite anyone who tried to touch her. Eventually she had to be tranquilized, and when she awoke, there were no humans in sight. Just a weird collar replacing her pretty pink one, and a huge forest.
