Amane's mother, Misako, was a powerful mage who would have.....
been S-class level if her mother was in a guild. Instead, Amane's
mother was an independent mage who spent much of her time
traveling from place to place, taking difficult missions that weren't
sent to guilds. While Amane was taught to use requip magic, she
could not requip nearly as quickly as her mother, nor could she
requip large weapons, let alone any armor. Her mother was not
upset, though she blamed Amane's unknown father for "bad,
magic-resistant genes." Misako took Amane on a journey to find a
dragon lacrima, determined to give her daughter something that
she could protect herself with. After they got the lacrima and
while Amane was weak and recovering from getting the lacrima,
Misako lost her life protecting Amane from a dark guild who
wanted the lacrima for themselves.
Amane lost her mother at twelve years old. She sought out a guild
to join, knowing that she could not live on her own, not without
control over her dragon slayer magic. Sabertooth was one of the
closest guilds and after hearing about a powerful third-generation
dragon slayer, Amane decided to join the guild, hoping that the
dragon slayer would be able to help her learn to use her new magic.
