-------------
a foul-tempered and... intense young woman, north likes to be in charge, even when she probably isn't the best candidate for leadership of any variety. although quick thinking, highly resourceful, dutiful and diligent, and insanely brave (emphasis on "insanely"), she's not easy to get along with on a day-to-day basis. when things don't go her way, she can tend to lash out at others or sulk for days on end, and quite frankly she'll pick a fight with anybody with little regard for the consequences (though, in her defence, it's not often that she loses). despite this blatant arrogance on her half, she's honest and reliable and no matter how dirty, dangerous or downright deadly the quest at hand may be, she'll carry it through. stress and fear are simply words she doesn't know the meaning of. when there's dangerous deeds to be done, North is the typically first port of call.
that said, her academic smarts aren't great (averaging a c, or a b at best) and she often struggles to read when she's angry or stressed - the dyslexia and the fact that english isn't her first language really don't help with that - and considering her constant stage of anger (of whatever degree) she can come across as totally illiterate at times. she is, however, extremely street-smart and cunning, though finds it hard to read people as well as those who are less emotionally detatched from their fellow campers. she can't lie or manipulate others to save her life, and nobody has yet been dumb enough to fall for the insincere apologies she's often forced to give for whatever antics she has most recently been up to, but north makes up for this in her aptitude for intimidating people into doing what she wants instead. her moral compass isn't the straightest and she can be incredibly cold and ruthless when there's something in her way, whether it's another camper in her way to the showers or a monster barring the way to the end of a quest. nor can she ever sit still, often refusing to sit at all in camp meetings and pacing up and down one side of the table instead.
yet despite all north's flaws, she's made herself indispensable to camp security, often patrolling the borders in her free time and staying up late to keep and eye on things (which has, undeniably, lead to a few skirmishes with the camp harpies). she also takes pleasure in tutoring the younger campers outside of classes and has an extremely overdeveloped sense of loyalty. once she decides she likes somebody, unwarranted or not, she'll stick by them for life. her love for her cabin-mates, in particular, knows no bounds. you mess with her cabin, or any of the "little brats" she's taken under her wing, and you're messing with her. she's enthusiastic and resilient, vaguely mischievous at times and even downright funny when the mood strikes her. she doesn't tend to hide her feelings about people and says what's on her mind. she's also more trusting and forgiving than you'd believe, though it's probably still not a good idea to leave any more firecrackers in her boots...
as far as her skillset goes, hand her a weapon and - no matter what it is - you can bet she'll wield it like she's had it for years. she can read military maps in a blink, can recite much of the modern military strategems by heart - and deploy them in an instant, given the time and resources. she can weave through the fray like nobody's business. war is her element.
she also knows the lyrics to every james bond theme by heart, but that's not to say you'd want to be in earshot when she's "singing".
but whilst, at times of unease, she can feel useful, less can be said of her when things are quiet. aside from her excellent, but mostly redundant, linguistic abilities (unsurprisingly, there's no real demand for Icelandic interpreters on long island), there's few other aces up this warrior's sleeves. with no other way to make herself useful other than aimlessly patrolling the camp, north can unfortunately be found picking fights with other senior campers or destroying the vast majority of the arena's training dummies, purely out of pent-up rage and bloodthirst. she's working on her anger issues, of course, having had some sense knocked into her by a cabin-mate, but aside from the occasional colouring book and a lot of unwarranted beatings dished out to the punching bags in her cabin, things on that side may take a while to get solved just yet.
I guess the only upside to her temper is that, usually, you'll hear her coming.
