⋆ backstory elara is the only offspring of thebe and ananke. alike her parents she is named after one of jupiter's moons as the tradition of naming pups after moons has been carried on throughout her bloodline for many generations. her mother, thebe, was a pale sandy coloured wolf and her father, ananke, had a pelt the colour of tree bark, mixed with hues of grey and splashes of white. elara has always resembled her mother, from her light pelt, which is much more white than thebe's, to her petite build. the only thing she got from her father was his eyes, he had light amber eyes while her mother's were a dark, deep and rich brown that were always warm with kindness and compassion as spirits danced within her mind. elara took on her mother's belief in spirits and the spirit realm. about fate and an afterlife for those who were worthy. her father, on the other hand, scoffed at their beliefs and shrugged them off as superstitions.
during most of her early life, elara was alone. the place where the small family resided was the only cover from the harsh winter they were experiencing and food was scarce. so, her parents would hide her in the den and go off to find food. though, it wasn't often that they did. she grew used to seeing her mother looking thin and tired, worn out from trying to survive and keep her only pup alive. though, one of her fondest and most prominent memories of her mother was her beautiful howling. thebe loved to sing out to the moon up above and let her lovely voice fill up the vast, dark sky. elara can vividly remember her mother singing for her at her request, even when thebe was tired from a long day of searching for food, she still sat up and howled strongly out of the mouth of the burrow in which they resided in.
ananke was different, elara never had a close bond with her father for he was stern and serious and always reminded her that the only purpose to life was to survive. he brushed off her sayings of an afterlife and of the spirits she knew were out there. though, when she would complain to her mother thebe would shush her and sooth her ruffled pelt. thebe truly loved ananke and she believed he could do no wrong, unlike her daughter who always believed the opposite.
elara had always thought that the reason ananke refused to believe in spirits was because he was scared. though, she would never find out because as the harsh winter stretched on her mother became sick, the thin she wolf had always been worn and tired, but she had never been sick before. even when the cold begun to fade and elara came upon the mark of her first year, her mother's condition got no better. she tried her best to help her get better, but even the songs she howled to her mother's small frame didn't bring the warmth back into her eyes or the beauty to her voice. now her voice was raspy and broken. the day that thebe passed elara lay by her side, unwilling to move, when ananke tried to take her body to bury her, she snapped her teeth and snarled and chased him out of the burrow. when the moon rose she sang her mother one last song and went outside of the burrow to ask her father to help bury her, but he was gone.
ananke had always been a wanderer at heart. elara had always seen it in his drifting gaze and alert ears or in the way he would linger outside of the burrow at dusk, staring out at the forest with longing deep within his eyes. when thebe passed he had no reason to stay, at least that's what elara thought. perhaps he was scared or sad and too proud to show his daughter his true emotions. but, poor, heartbroken elara buried her mother's sandy coat beneath the dirt on her own and she waited for days beside the grave, hoping to see ananke return. but, in all that time she spent waiting for him, he became more and more of a coward in her mind. a disgrace. he abandoned her and her mother.
after a month of staying close to the burrow she couldn't take it anymore. for her whole life she had always felt restless, as if she had somewhere she needed to be. her mother was her home and now that she was gone she had no home. so, she too left and let her paws carry her for days, upon days, upon days. during her tiring travels the only thing that kept her sane was howling to remind her of her mother and she found comfort in the spirits she knew were guiding her, she always liked to believe that her mother's spirit stayed with her. once she found the pack she knew it was her home. she had the urge to teach them of the spirits and that there was hope beyond life. as she found her rank in the pack she grew loyal to them and she vowed to never let them fall and never abandon them, like ananke abaonded her and thebe.

Holy light, oh, guard the night, oh keep the spirits strong
Watch it grow, child of wolf
Keep holdin' on
http://cdn01.wallconvert.com/_media/wal ... -24386.jpgWolf mother, where you been?
You look so worn, so thin
You're a taker, devil's maker
Let me hear you sing, hey ya hey ya
Wolf father, at the door
You don't smile anymore
You're a drifter, shapeshifter
Let me see you run, hey ya hey ya
Holy light, oh, guard the night, oh keep the spirits strong
Watch it grow, child of wolf
Keep holdin' on
When I run through the deep dark forest long after this begun
Where the sun would set, trees were dead and the rivers were none
And I hope for a trace to lead me back home from this place
But there was no sound, there was only me and my disgrace
Wayward winds, the voice that sings of a forgotten land
See it fall, child of all
Lend a mending hand

- loves howling (singing) - reminds her of her mother
- helpful, kind, considerate, empathetic, open book
- trustworthy and fiercely loyal - has morals that she believes strongly in, these include loyalty and compassion
- quietly protects her loved ones (if someone's talking bad about her friend she'll guide them away so thy don't hear it) - not really one for aggressive confrontation - she will confront you if what you're doing is morally wrong, but she will use a gentle voice to try and persuade you to do better
- passionate -- loves her work as a preist and doesn't often let anything distract her - very focused - responsible and knows she has responsibilities so she makes sure that she isn't distracted from them
- though, she's easily shaken and if she gets a vision/sign/omen from a spiritual deity that suggests something bad is to come, she'll be frightened and often avoid all others until she can clear her head and think straight
- unadaptable, but hard-working -- works hard with her rank & works hard to adapt to new things/feelings
- calm, cool, collected - even when she's stressed she can make that to make others feel soothed -- though when she's afraid it's harder and that's why she stays in solitude for a while
- gentle, soft-spoken and caring
- sensible, intelligent, problem solver
- independent - prefers to work alone/works better alone, not because she's aloof she's actually calm & cool when speaking with other wolves, she just feels as if she gets more work done without the distraction of others
- doesn't become attached easily because of what happened with her father
- hard on herself - always pushing herself to do better, do more etc. -- determined - never gives up always pushes further to improve herself/her skills
- guards her heart - doesn't allow herself to love easily -- too many responsibilities & because of her past
- only needs the acceptance of herself, doesn't care what others think
