always feeling like she's on the outside of things, asuka has never really fit into her environments. a born genius asuka practically flew through school and eventually landed in university at only twelve years old surrounded by people older than her. to cope and hide just how out of place she felt the girl would act out and try to emulate the people around her looking for a sense of camaraderie. even as asuka acted out her parents never felt the need to step in and correct her because she was a genius and could take them in a battle of wits any day. completing multiple degrees in different fields it wasn't long before the fifteen year old was scouted for nasa where once again she was surrounded by peers twice her age or more and on top of that living on her own in a new country. able to take care of herself asuka has mostly been left to her own devices and though she's good at her job no one could say that she's socially confident. sure she can talk professionally but beyond that this phd holder feels out of place and often resorts to her intelligence and expertise to skate by in casual conversation. with nothing really holding her back asuka accepted the offer to be this missions vital technologies specialist, often travelling back and forth between reactor and O2 she can get by with just spending the day with machines.

raised by a single mother jacob was always taught to be self reliant and help others when he could and for the most part that is what he did, at least, when he wasn't hanging out in his mother's studio, painting beside her. Not a natural talent by any means jacob has honed an artistic hand and eye through constant practice filling up dozens of sketchbooks with doodles and watercolours. not exactly a "manly" hobby according to those around him jacob learned to roll with the punches, as his mother would say, let them say what they want to, it has nothing to do with you. though he was bullied it soon stopped when jacob finally grew into his height making him an intimidating looking figure. quiet and compassionate jacob would always try to accommodate those around him even if the cost was his own comfort. though a seemingly good quality it also made jacob indecisive as he struggles between choosing what he wanted to do and what would be easiest for other people around him. torn between following his passion for art and earning an actually useful degree it wasn't until his mother sat him down and convinced him to go for his dreams. the day before he received his acceptance letter his mother passed away. left without his rock jacob used his inheritance to go to school, found a small studio apartment determined to make her proud.

There is a world we are born into and take for granted. The world we pass our mortal days within, the living world. But after that ends, there is another world that some of us pass into. This is the world of the dead: the ashes. The domain of ghosts and lost souls who cannot pass on, trapped as shadows of their former selves.

However, there are rare instances of those born with mediumship. Long ago, kings and lords of long-forgotten countries sought the powers of these spirit wranglers in order to raise great armies of the dead against one another. But undead armies that can never tire or die means that a war can never end. Fearing for the future, the mediums met with one another. They agreed to call off the spirit hoardes, and spare what remained of the ravaged land. The mediums formed an alliance under the banner of the crow- death's messenger- and vowed to never misuse their supernatural abilities again.

History moved forward, and new kingdoms arose. From the shadows, the crows ensured that the living would be safe from the dead, and the dead from the schemes of the living.

Flo was raised within the nest of Bearbrass taken in as a child with nowhere else to go and only a simple gold ring to remember her parents by. Named at the nest and surrounded by peers Florence was a fledgeling by thirteen years of age and assigned to the bond-breaker department. Under her mentor, Flo became an adept bounty hunter and skilled crow hunting down runaway ghosts and running around the nest as a gopher. Though she had the drive and competitive nature to excel and rise in the ranks Flo was also consistently taken advantage of, even her own mentor used her accomplishments to get out of the grunt department leaving Flo on her own. That betrayal of the one person she was supposed to rely on turned the fledgeling off from the bureaucracy of the Crows. Rather than waste her time rising through meaningless ranks Flo instead focused on the task at hand, tracking down rouge ghosts who left their bonds or wreak havoc in the city. The only reason she excelled at her job was personal satisfaction, she didn't care what the other Crows thought of her as a forever grunt or their distaste for her attitude towards the hierarchy. Four years into her being a Crow, Florence stopped receiving fledgelings to train, it seemed that they no longer trusted her to train the new recruits. Often sent alone on missions with little backup Flo has taken it up as a challenge, no matter what they throw at her she'll get the job done. As a Hatchling, she was raised in the belief that she was supposed to protect the city and despite all the bureaucracy Flo still believes in that goal.

Heir. They provide advice to The Bastard and they have been
friends for ages. Arguments often break out between the two
of them because they are both strong opinions and are
argumentative. Sometimes The Right Hand Man believes that

before they got roped into The Illegitimate Heir rebellion

loyalties waver as they are still loyal, in part, to The King.
