This is much overdue. Prepare for a wall of explanatory text.
This is the place to ask any questions you have regarding confusing story points or anything that just flat out doesn't make sense, as the next page will be picking up the story full throttle. Hopefully, with less walls of dialogue and more actual action portrayed on the page.
Ready? Let's go.


Empty titles begins with four kids, Alena, Kyle, Mark, and Shelly living out their everyday lives and getting into mischief. Out of boredom one summer afternoon, Alina decides to investigate the token creepy old house found in every neighborhood, where on several occasions she has seen someone standing by the window when the place is supposed to be abandoned. Even though her friends warn her against it, she goes and investigates, catching a glimpse of the boy looking out the window. Rather than being afraid though, she coaxes him out to play by throwing a rock through his window with an invitation attached. She soon returns back to her friends with the boy, who don't immediately take a liking to him. [He is of course not normal looking, with the white hair and funny clothes.] Alina and the boy, named Zane, explain about where he came from, and the theory of the multiverse and the spiral gate engine.
Zane is in fact, from a completely different universe, which was cut off once his story ended. All stories are like that. And all universes are stories. Once an idea is considered, it branches off the universe it originated in and is actually real. His Master's job is to cut off universes after their concept has played off, so as to prevent mutations and keep the multiverse functioning properly. When Alyna's friends are skeptical, she convinces Zane to show them around his house, where he had showed her the 'Spiral Gate Engine' a wondrous machine that acts as a gateway between universes. He is scared of getting in trouble, but Alena takes her friends to it anyway, showing them how every idea, every game they ever played, is actually real and happening in some other universe.
Her friends quickly begin to squabble over who gets to play with it next, when Zane's master returns. Zane screams at them in time for them to escape, while he is trapped behind with his master, a being made of mist with a glowing red mask. He tells Zane that he should be punished for his mistakes, and tortures him for his disobedience, telling him that he will be the one to destroy this universe to make up for the mess he made within it. Alena realizes Zane was left behind and runs back, convincing her friends to follow behind, though they become lost. She begins to make her way back to the Spiral Gate Engine when she is caught by the master, who wishes her to be his next apprentice. He explains about the four titles, the Terror, Gunman, Summoner, and Puppetmaster. She is a Red Terror, the only one in this universe, and if she joins Zane's master, she will get to live while the rest of the universe crumbles. She accepts, but only to save her Zane from a far more imminent death. Kyle and Mark wander through the labyrinthine mansion, realizing its much larger and more confusing on the inside than anticipated. They accidentally find Zane, horribly beaten and bleeding. He's worried for Alena, who he knows his master has sights on for a new apprentice. Mark and Kyle hurry to find her, carrying Zane with them. Zane helps them hurry to find Alena, but warns them to stop upon reaching the final door...
Only Mark doesn't listen, and is mortally wounded as Alena stabs into the door and through his stomach. She had been taken over by the Master, through the power of his mask, which controls the wearer, stealing their free will. Kyle attempts to reason with her, only to be attacked as well, leaving him fleeing from his now murderous friend.
Meanwhile, Shelly had been trying to find her brother, wandering through the gigantic mansion with only her plush Mr. Narwhale to guide her. The Narwhale talks, but only to her. She stumbles upon her brother, now dead, and begins to freak out before the toy warns her of lurking evil. Another being of mist explodes out of the toy, fighting off Zane's master. They begin to bicker, and talk as though they had known each other all along, revealing that they themselves were once a Terror and Puppetmaster themselves, and that they had long ago failed their own quest... whatever it was meant to be. They begin a massive battle, during which the Puppetmaster tells Shelly how to awaken her own powers, to save her brother and escape while Zane's master was distracted. Using these powers, she awakens her brother, who is now under her control, and uses his powers to summon a massive dragon of energy. The dragon scares away Zane's master, who steals Zane and vanishes. Mark instead goes to find Alena and Kyle, who is barely managing to survive. With the distraction, Kyle steal's Alena's weapon and slices her mask in two, releasing her of the master's control. The mask had been holding both her and Zane captive, and with it broken, they were both released.
All of the kids leave, finding their way out of the mansion, only to realize that outside, in the real world they had been missing for several days.
They are warmly welcomed back safe and sound.
In the realm of the cutters, where Zane lives though, things are not so calm. He escapes his master, and flees to the universe of his new friends, destroying the Spiral Gate Engine, the link between that universe and others, long considered impossible to destroy. Now a renegade, he tries to find the only people he can turn to for help, and goes looking for Alena, Mark, and Kyle, only to pass out from blood loss in the middle of the street and be taken into a hospital. He is questioned for a little while, but Alena arranges for him to be broken out, using Kyle and his skill with delinquent activities.
Kyle talks for a little about Alina, and how it is he's so bad at crime. His life had been going downhill, and he'd been in quite a bit of trouble for a long time until meeting her, who gave him a better home to go to when his was too rough. Alena had also opened her home to Zane, where she'd made a place for him in the attic. Zane and Alena realize that after the events, they are the only one's who really know what its like to have been the master's apprentice, and they bond over this, and their bizarre powers as Terrors. Zane is still haunted by his past, and his master.
The next day, Alena and Zane hang out, and Alena realizes that being from another universe, Zane has several small abilities that aren't like the ones in her own. Such as the ability to disregard gravity on himself and others.
He and the other kids have a lot of fun together, and over the weeks teach him how to be a normal kid and have fun.
But of course, not everyone is happy with this. The puppetmaster fears that two terrors in a single universe would throw the entire scheme of things out of whack.
And of course, Zane's master will never let what is rightfully his get out of his clutches.
Alone after his friends have gone to school, Zane is attacked by both the master and puppetmaster. Hunted by both, his terror side activates, sending him into a rage and nearly limitless potential. In the battle, the master slashes across his face, leaving three permanent scars, as scars from a terror never fully heal.
Instead of fighting though, he flees, managing to get to the school after his initial burst of rage. In hopes of hiding amongst other kids, he tries to get Alena, Mark, and Kyle to help, but they send him away, not realizing the danger, giving his enemies time to catch up.
In a battle on the school rooftop, Zane kills his master by stabbing him through the mask.
The puppetmaster comes to the scene, realizing that Zane is the true terror, and must be killed, or risk the multiverse falling apart at his hands. Zane agrees to let the puppetmaster kill him, knowing that there is something dangerous about him, and doesn't want his friends to be hurt at his hands. Instead though, Shelly comes and bargains with the puppetmaster for his life, deciding that she is strong enough to keep him under control. The puppetmaster argues, and Shelly sends it away because she feels she no longer needs it. With her words, she banishes the entity, which snags the master's body on its way out of the universe.
Alena reaches the scene as Zane is left alone on the rooftop. He realizes that he feels strange, and Kyle takes him back to Alina's house.
Kyle, Alyna, and Mark stay at school the rest of the day, and Alina comes home to realize that her mother has found Zane. She agrees to let him stay though as a family.
They are happy and normal for a while.
He grows up as a normal kid.
He has a family.
Several years pass.
And meanwhile, we cut over to the realm of cutters, where there are three being trained under another master. The alert has been called for the rogue cutter, who has killed the Red Mask, a high ranking member under the lady, master of all universes. Red Mask, is, of course, none other than Zane's master. The order has been set to bring back the one responsible. The one powerful enough to kill a mask level cutter and destroy a gate engine. And they want the one responsible alive. That one of course, is Zane.
Oh, and the universe that it's in needs to be completely destroyed due to contamination.
The three young cutters are Rekkie, Vevianne, and Kev. Kev isn't important. So you can forget about him for now. Rekkie wants nothing more than to be a mask level cutter.
During an important meeting, his master is given the orders to capture the fugitive, and Rekkie finds himself hoping for this chance to prove himself.
When being told no, he and Vevianne begin discussing all of Red Mask's weird apprentices, how strange they are and always turn out. Many of them even end up in quarantine. Realizing that the quarantine is a thing, Rekkie stupidly decides to sneak in to see what sorts of freak this rogue might end up like. Seeing the bizarre and frightening creatures behind the glass, Rekkie begins to egg one on, angering it to the point of breaking out. He and it get into a fight, which Rekkie badly loses and gets an eye scratched out from claws of a Terror, which leave him permanently scarred. He loses his chance at joining his master in the mission. While passed out, he dreams of the night he lost his universe, and of how he had promised his mother he would do something great.
After that, we cut back to Zane, Alena, Kyle and friends.
They are now around 15-17 years old. They look different, and cooler now. Alena and Zane are planning something big for their friends and have plans to meet them at the mall, where Alina has a surprise for them, though Zane is acting strangely and keeps hinting at somewhere he needs to be, and constantly receives text messages from an enigmatic source. After Alina gives Kyle tickets to his favorite band, and promises that they're going as a group, [and also mentions that they once dated] Zane sneaks away. Alina knows of course, and sends Mark tailing him to see what's been going on. He follows him to the old mansion, where Shelly has been blackmailing him with her now fully matured powers. She wants him all to herself, and has been threatening to do awful things to Alyna if he doesn't comply. When he finally snaps and says he'll have none of it, she attempts to fully destroy his free will.
When she enters his mind with her powers, she discovers a second entity living within him, one much older and wiser than Zane is. An entity inside Shelly responds to it. They are the spirits of the Puppetmaster and Terror. The terror explains that Zane is literally an incarnation of the Terror, and that the Puppetmaster has simply taken over Shelly, limiting its potential. The puppetmaster though, realizes that it has a chance to settle its grudge against the terror, and attempts to kill the spirit that is inside/literally is Zane. Instead though, the Terror puts Zane into a comatose and semi broken state to protect itself until ready to reawaken.
Shelly leaves, letting Alena and Kyle find him comatose in the overgrown backyard of the Mansion.
Shelly corners her brother Mark though, and explains that soon they're all going to take sides, and that she wants Mark on hers, and that she can teach him how to use his powers. Mark says no, and shows that he already has control over his powers, and has been hiding it. Shelly is pissed off, and threatens him with his hacking, saying she'll call the government. Mark says he doesn't care.
Zane is in a coma, Alina is blaming herself for it. Kyle says he'll be fine and he'll get over it, mostly because Kyle just doesn't like Zane, and is feeling like he's a burden on her.
It's been several weeks, and Mark has gone missing. The group of friends is strained and broken.
Kyle convinces Alena to get fresh air and lighten up. When they leave though, Rekkie sneaks into Zane's room and attempts to kidnap him. Alena sees and runs to stop him. She and Rekkie get into a fight, and Alina is thrown out the window, and Kyle catches her as his powers awaken. With his powers, he can create and control structures of energy, so he's basically awesome, and can fly and shoot lazers and things. He shoots lazers at Rekkie, Rekkie nearly gets fried, but Vevianne is a jerk and threatens to kill Zane if Kyle doesn't stop. Kyle has to forfeit, and takes the guilt for losing Zane. Not because he cares about Zane, but because he cares about Alina who cares about Zane.
An entity of mist approaches Kyle, claiming to be the true Gunman, saying that it is soon going to die, and that Kyle will have to take his place. Kyle doesn't want to, as he wants nothing more than to be normal again. The gunman doesn't care and says he'll come around and be the Gunman for Zane, and that Zane had wanted this to happen, and its ok that he's been kidnapped.
Zane is brought in by Rekkie, and Rekkie is chewed out for having done something so stupid. But his master takes Zane to the lady, who treats him like her own child, and demands that he be kept safe. He is put in quarantine, and has tests done on him.
Meanwhile, Zane's master and the Puppetmaster are alive and well, and know that Zane is the true terror and really dangerous. They agree to make up for a short time to go to the cutter's domain and see what they can do. They take off their masks also, which were important in their universe and when the Master [revealed to be named Ki'Nar, the Puppetmaster Ki'Ra and the Gunman Ki'Olean] started the whole mask thing with the cutters way back when. Their faces look pretty normal without the scarring and the elaborate ears. Zane's Master/Red Mask/Ki'nar goes and realizes the place has gone downhill since he left, and everyone thought he was dead. He sweeps in, realizing that they have Zane and goes to see him, claiming that he'll punish the kid, now awake, for what he's done.
The Lady has none of that and tells the master that Zane is her child. [The lady is a manifestation of the multiverse, and the Titles are her 'children'.] She won't let anyone hurt her baby. Zane's master leaves.
Back on earth, Kyle is feeling guilty, and begins to wonder where Mark is. He goes to Mark's house, which is now overgrown and like a giant metaphorical spiderweb where anyone who comes near is caught and played with by Shelly. Mark is actually fine, and in hiding, and has surveillance set up to keep people from being caught by Shelly. He sends his dragon over to save them when that is the case. Kyle goes to ring the doorbell. Shelly prepares her threads, and Mark's dragon saves him. The dragon, named Radia, tells him that he must use his Gunman powers to fly, so that she can take him to Mark. Kyle says no, but has sense slapped into him by the dragon. He then manages to activate them with a little bit of practice, and flies to Mark's secret lair. Mark actually is aware that Cutters are coming to destroy their universe, and has plans to prevent that from happening.
The cutters prepare to invade...
Mark and his friends prepare to fight. They all ready their skills as Mark attempts to rebuild the Spiral Gate Engine in time, in hopes of saving their universe...

"-Spiral Gate Engine is no longer in use, therefore making it impossible to destroy in the general and customary manner. As such, it is required that we use Slice Warping to first access and then do a manual removal of the universe. For this, we first need a small and highly talented team to infiltrate and set up Slice points-"
"Slice warping... they're pulling out all of the stops aren't they...
"Rekkie, Slice warping isn't just pulling out all of the stops, it's dangerous! That's why they almost never use it. Plus, it's permanent. It creates entire RIFTS in the multiverse, and ends up causing terrible damage over time..."
"-upon which the team will then begin the manual destruction protocol."
"Hm... Manual..."
"That's even worse. Manual destruction's been banned for years!"
"Well, the Lady said it was ok."
"WHY though? Manual destruction is just a euphemism for literally RIPPING the universe apart. Think medieval torture happening to an entire WORLD."
"Hmmm... well I suppose either way I want in on it."
"REKKIE."
"Are you with me?"
"NO. Of course I'm not!"
"I mean in doing something to get to the bottom of it. I want to know what's so special with this place. Aren't you curious too?"
"So... you aren't just trying to get in with them?"
"Of course not. I just want to find more out, and you know... investigate this time around. Before it all gets ripped up. And maybe get a better fight with that green guy. You know, a rematch before its too late"
