Long ago when the Dodgers first came to earth the Sun blinded their leader and they responded in kind. They set up a field which shielded the Suns light from the entire earth, not even a drop of light... only darkness. It wasn't just the Sun though, the Moon was gone/ Somehow all the other effects of the Sun, including warmth stayed.
We've been fighting to get the light of the sun back ever since.

Cyroids- Humans born without certain limbs, soon after birth they're put on the procedure table and their missing limbs are replaced by mechanical ones, they make up 99.99% of the population.
Humans- No assembly required, there is only 1 documented Human at this current time.
Mecharoids- Humans put inside a large Military robot, they help the Cyroid Soldiers fight the war. Number of them is classified.
Mediroids- Cyroid doctors with specially equipped limbs. Unknown
Medroids- Robotic Nurses. Unknown
Sciroids- Cyroid Scientists. Unknown

The Last Catfish

Chapter 1 The Banishment

It would've been a good day, the sun shined above, the water glimmered and despite the sun, my brown fur wasn't hot at all, thanks to a cool breeze that flew by. But the day wasn't good, I know what your probably thinking, why the heck isn't it a good day? Well in my village, a village of creatures called catfish, cats with otters fur, a cat body, and a fish tail.

Anyways, in the village, our rank is decided on how well we swim. And I know your thinking, you have a fish tail, use the thing! Well, another thing about me, I was born in August, I am a fire sign. For the first bit of my life, I was hidden away, unknown to my people until the next water sign month, when I was, according to everyone, even my parents (who didn't tell me I was a fire sign!) I was a water sign cat, and I was born in late October. Naturally I found out. But being born on a fire sign month also meant I naturally worked better with fire than water, however being around water your whole life isn't exactly helpful if you're gifted with fire. Most of my time is spent on a small island with one tree where all the kittens who cannot swim stay, and today was the day of the Swim Test. I figured if I was going to drown soon I might as well get some beauty sleep, so I curled up and went to sleep.

A few hours later I was awakened by the chief of the village, a tall, long-legged, silver tom with a light yellow-gold tail. Oh, that reminds me, in case you don't know, my tail color is light turquoise. He has a deep voice and as he spoke it felt as if the world shook with his power.

"Come now, young ones. It is time now, to see your skills and test your swimming!"

A few minutes later, me and four other kittens were in the water. One of them was black with a silver tail, one was red with a gold tail, one was a dark brown with a dark green tail, and the one last one was scrawny and white, with a calico tail (orange white and black) Then, from a tree above the water, our great leader spoke.

"I now look upon these young catfish and wish them luck in their swimming, the test will begin in 3... 2... 1.... Go!"

We were off! All the other kittens zoomed off while I held my breath long enough to touch the bottom of the lake we were swimming in and bounce back up, I wasn't even treading water! The calico tailed catfish, who was only a bit ahead of me, looked back at me, but when she didn't see me above water, I noticed she almost looked... Scared. As I hit the ground again, I bounced back up and repeated this three times until....

"The answer of the water spirit has spoken, these three kittens will go on to become great fishers, as for Seafoam and Cali, they are banished."
The crowd around the lake gasped, my parents looked horrified!

"What! You ca-" I fell underwater again and pushed up. "Nt do that!"

I went under again and walked underwater, to the side of the lake, and pulled myself out. I began to lope off into the unknown, feeling not alive or dead, just sad.

-Cali-

I looked up sadly at my parents, I wasn't even a bad swimmer, just a slow one! But but I knew I must leave and so I did just that.

"What went wrong?" I asked aloud to myself. Then, as if in reply, I was hit hard by the wind. Was I an air sign? I couldn't be, could I? All catfish were born on a water sign... Unless..... I decided to put it to the test, and tried to make myself float. I focused hard on the sky and wind and air and then I began to feel myself lift up, only a foot off the ground, but I knew then. I am an air sign.

"I wonder if that seafoam catfish has another element too, most likely the only reason I was farther along than her is because air is more related to water than fire or earth." I said to myself. "Maybe I should look for her." And so I changed directions and walked, seeking the "Seafoam" catfish.


Chapter 2 The Monsters

It had been about three hours since I had walked off and I was tired and lost. I decided to stop and take in my surroundings, oh and I was hungry. As I looked around I began to realize I must have been living in an oasis! The land was a desert, sand and cacti were all I could see for miles! I decided if I was going to get any rest it would have to seek shade as the sun was going to give me some sort of horrible deadly burn if I didn't get out of the sun! Sadly the only shade was a 100 foot cactus. I knew I wouldn't last long in the sun so finally out of pain I retreated to the shade of the cactus, being careful to avoid anything that would prick me.

An hour later I was awakened by some rude prodding and poking. I looked up,

"Ohhh, you're the other one who got banished. You're here?"

"Y-yeah! I thought I'd never find you, I wanted you to know, I'm like you, we were both born on a rouge element, I'm air, what're you?"  

"Um, I'm fire. I'm also starving, you have any food?"

"Nah, but if you're thirsty I know a thing or two about gettin water"

"How?"

It only took a split second for that calico tailed she-cat to answer me. She unsheathed her claws and thrust them out, to my face? I closed my eyes. This was it, I was dead, I didn't have a second to dodge. But then, I felt cool water hit my back and I opened my eyes, water was rushing out of the cactus!

"Y'see, most cacti wouldn't just give you water that easily, but keep in mind, we're in CATFISH territory still so naturally waters not TOO hard to find" Cali said, turning to me then turning back to the steady stream of water that came from the cactus.

Quickly I cupped my paws and scooped the water into my mouth, when I noticed, Cali wasn't doing the same. She had a bulls horn, hollowed into a cup which she was filling up with a small smile occupying her face. I could almost hear her purr, then everything went completely, and utterly, wrong.


-Cali-

I heard a deafening roar and dropped the hollow horn-cup, splattering the water everywhere whilst the huge cactus continued  to send water out of the hole I had made. Seafoam looked up slowly and I too turned to see what had roared, to my shock and horror, I saw the scariest thing I think I will ever see.

The beast was 100 feet tall, as big as the cactus I had slashed, it had glowing red cat eyes, a hind-leg standing crocodilian body, but instead of just scales, spikes shot out of its body, making it look like it rolled in cacti every day. However, its tail had no spikes, making it vulnerable. Its red eyes gleamed with a hunger no cat could show and it drooled as if we were some kind of main appetizer! Seafoam looked as if she was a fish that a hungry catfish had noticed and was not moving, her eyes frozen in shock and fear. Then, the beast attacked.

It was a simple attack really, the spikes on its body shot out and her quickly replaced by new ones. I only had a split second to grab Seafoam by her tail and move our sorry pelts out of the attacks range! Then, Seafoam came to her senses, she unsheathed her claws and tossed herself at the beast, only to be stopped and have her claws broken on the tough, needle-scales of the creatures body! She fell to the ground, her claws broken, but thankfully not bleeding. I turned to the beast and used my knowledge of creatures to analyze it. Then I recognized it as Setspik, the cactus spirit. Seafoam whom obviously hadn't taken any classes on spirits, looked up hopelessly at the monster, then turned to me, sadly, a shard of her broken claws shining in the sunlight, giving me a split second to think,

"This beast has hurt my friend, now it must face me!"

I surged forward, dodging a deadly blast of spikes and maneuvering in-between the creatures legs and holding tight to the creatures scale-less tail with my still-in-tact claws and biting into its soft reptilian flesh. The beast wailed in such a strange way, I felt as if I had hurt a child! Then I looked to the tip of the beasts tail, it was turning into a flower! As this happened, the beast lied down and hummed, a sweet melody my mother had sung to me when I was younger, and I closed my eyes.

-Seafoam-

The sound I had heard before passing out was very odd, it reminded me of home, of my village, it also made me wonder how my parents were doing back home, if only I had tried harder to swim....

It was midnight when I awoke again, Cali was already up and the cactus and the monster were gone, my claws were still broken, and it was considerably cold despite the fact we were in the desert. I was shivering when an idea struck me, I'm fire right? So I can probably make fire! Cali looked over at me, she was sitting down, definitely cold. I knew I had to try something so I closed my eyes and imagined fire forming in front of me. Nothing. I contended this for about five minutes until my paws started feeling really hot, I opened my eyes and jumped back at what I saw.

My front paws were COVERED in blue fire! Luckily the flames weren't burning my fur but they were still ‘sitting’ on my front paws. I supposed I hadn't thought much about what I was doing because the next thing I knew was I was surrounded with fire! While the flames swirled around me, I saw Cali trying desperately to blow out the fire with huge gusts of wind.  The fire calmed for a minute, then rose, the air was its fuel! I couldn't think straight! Then, my world was turned upside down.

My tail was shrinking, then growing out without a fin at the end, I could feel horns, painfully ripping their way out of my head, my fur, turned from brown to orange, then each hair on my body petrified and widened, turning to scale, my body became longer, my legs wider! Finally, as if in a grand finale, two huge bat like wings ripped their way through my body and extended, with a length of about five feet long each!

Then, I felt in control again, I looked at the fire, and it died down at my will, I was in full control of my element.

“Whoa, S-seafoam? What are you? How’d you do that?” Cali asked.

“To be honest I don’t really know. But I think my fur turned into ‘scales’ I thought only fish and catfish tails have those. Whats even weirder is evidently ‘scales’ have to do with whatever fire creature I am right now and not fish.” I replied.

“Well whatever you are, you’re awesome!”

“Thanks Cali”

“I wonder what these things on my back do... AGH GET ME DOWN GET ME DOWN” I suddenly was in the air, I was really scared! I had seen one or two flying things at my old village though. Maybe I was a, whats the word, ‘bird’? Then I had a thought, stop moving the ‘flappy things’ on my back! Very. Bad. Idea. I was getting down, but instead of gliding gracefully to the ground, I was falling to my doom! I only had seconds left! Then, a soft, featherlike landing told me Cali had saved my life.

“Note to self,” I said aloud. “Never wave ‘flappy things’”

Cali Giggled, I have no idea why. I nearly DIED! She’s crazy, although I AM glad she saved my life.

“Well if we want to not sizzle in the morning,” Cali said, lifting her head towards the suns position on the horizon. “We better get moving, I heard once that there is a forest in this direction, C’mon lets go!”

This is most likely going to be a very very short comic. It is about drowning but not the way your thinking it. Keep tuned for more of this comic ''The Sensation of Drowning.''

welp, i'm gonna admit, i have no idea what i'm doing with this comic/manga aha
i got the idea this week, drew the main character [her name will remain secret until it's revealed in the story] and now that i've done this i can't back out
i'm planning on keeping all the art for this done in oekaki, might do some editing in SAI when i move it to dA, but that'll be it
anyways, i'm really excited to start this project, it'll be a huge step for me, and i hope you all come along for the ride, it's going to be a very magical adventure!! [shut up i'm funny]

i'm going to draw everything right to left [traditional manga style], but for oekaki it'll be flipped to go left to right
also, all text bubbles will be fixed in another program, i have terrible hand writing aha

also, dude, i'm so happy with that art just ahhhhhhhhhh i did that i'm so proud of myself <33
