What are Quetzotalus?:
Quetzolatus are a specialized species of raptor. They are mostly bird-like, though possess some feline qualities. Their heads, for instance, are very similar to cheetahs, and they have a long, flexible tail. Most of their bodies are covered in a plush, silken fur, with feathers sprouting out along their spines, legs, and tail. Their bones are light and hollow, though are relatively strong despite this. Quetzotalus are strong fliers, as well. Their broad wings also act as forelimbs, small dexterous hands attached to them. They use these to crawl along the forest floors, grip to limbs, sometimes climb, and hold onto prey. Their legs are strong, their feet having three toes each. Two of the toes are shorter, with smaller talons for gripping. The third is a large, sharp talon used for delivering devastating kicks. These raptors live mostly in forests and jungles, and generally reach a maximum height of 6 feet at the top of their heads. Some, however, never grow much larger than their juvenile stage. Quetzotalus males and females are virtually indistinguishable. The only difference between the two is the amount of feathers on their heads. Males have an additional crest on their heads. The species as a whole generally has bright, vivid markings and patterns.

Dis said what they liked most about the original was the edit style and the edits-- so I kept those mostly the same and changed the design up a lot! They're more like a pastel bee!

“Do you know what fear tastes like Faline?” The prince glared towards him, leaning forwards from where he was seated. “I’m sure to you, it tastes of iron and saltwater, normal for someone so overwhelmingly connected to the ocean” The male slammed down the glass of wine in his paw, a booming voice rising as he started to go from simple aggravation to full blown enraged screaming. “And you pirates, of course, deserve to taste such things as you all drown to the bottom of the oceans you dare to sail across with such merriment!” Faline pulled back from the other, unsure what to think, and nervous about even trying to find the right words to say. Captured by a king and on the verge of being sent to execution, the pirate knew one thing. Minimize the damage, save the others, make sure as many people as possible could be saved, even if he wasn’t a part of that body count. He was unsure what he did wrong to anger this creature, and as he spoke, everything snapped back to reality, and he never got his answer.

The blaring sound of the airhorn of a clock broke Faline out of his dream. “Well you see-” He slurred, barely snapping away from his dream. They almost continued, but his words paused as he realized his former state was only a dream. He looked out towards his window, underwater scenery being shown back towards him. The soft sound of the waves surrounded him as his eyes bolted towards a small orange, black, and white blur outside his window. Oh, thank gods, Carrol was still there, as speedy and happy as ever, the dream really was over. Faline laughed slightly as the other being spun around and smushed their little fish face up against the glass. “Mornin’ Carrol, say hi to the crew this morning?” Of course, the clownfish couldn’t respond, but Faline just laughed and found himself hopping up to the top of the ship, busting out of the hatch blocking his bunk from the rest of the kalons above. As soon as the sun met his face, the captain yelled out to the world, or at least that’s what it seemed like as his voice echoed through the sky.

“ GOOD MORNING, TO THE BEST PIRATES IN THE OCEAN!”

Faline, Where does one start with Faline? He’s been through a lot certainly, but can one really go out there and call him a captain of a ship and only that? No, because with how he’s lived, he’s more than that. He’s been a beggar, asking people to help him follow a dream, asking people to see if they’d join the pirate crew of a kit with a dream. He’s been a student, learning from his father how to pilot a ship, and how to get it home safely. He’s been a mourner, crying and whining, mourning the death of his father on the sea with nobody to comfort him. He’s been a captain, yes. But now, he’s no longer a captain, he’s a patient. While Faline is sure that he’s been on his pirate ship this whole time, feeding off of fish and drinking the water of the seas, with friends all around him, the reality hits much more like a dystopian world.

Faline was diagnosed with Schizophrenia, and was hospitalized after attempting to kill another kalon by the name of Rex, claiming that he was ‘a guard to the king who wished to kill him’. All the time he had on his supposed ship, was only time he spent in his padded room. The fish he thought he ate was nothing more than meat filled with medicine for his hallucinations, the water he drank was simply that...tap water. However, it wasn’t always this way...the begging and the mourning, that was reality, everything was reality up until his father’s death. When that happened, it seemed almost as if Faline did something different. Something...out of the ordinary. The doctors found it out when he was institutionalized.

He had medicine before, he took it for many years to keep hallucinations at bay, but when his father died...he stopped taking his medicine, and the hallucinations caught up with him. His friends sometimes visit him, and see him in his room crying or laughing at nothing, and they just look to him, faces filled with sadness. Sure, some of them didn’t exactly see Faline as the best person ever, but they wanted their happy sailor child back. They wanted their Faline back home...back in reality.

- make them part of the base for an au involving my kalons, based around his hallucinations about them in his head. In this AU, he's gonna be a happy lad with his friendly underwater and flying babies.

- Find/make him a mate or best friend who is connected either extremely with the water or with the beach, either or, and have his heart chart for other characters be split between both in his head and out in reality

- Find/make him a doctor like kalon as a friend/ as his doctor for his mental problems and to possibly help him take his medication again.

- Find/make his father and if that works out then write about how he found his father and how his father never really actually died.

- write out full short story/larger excerpt based on the previous writing, including his relation to the king hallucination and how he has no real companions on his ship

- make an au where he's happy and doesn't have any mental issues ruining his life because he honestly deserves better and I want to draw him happy one day.

- make a fake song based on his journeys in his head, to the tune of an irish drinking song, or a sea shanty.

- write out an entire split bio about both what he is in reality and what he is in his hallucination world

RELATIONS; FRIENDS AND HALLUCINATIONS

Austin Karrow PRINCE AUSTIN KARROVERE
"I don't particularly like him. But I want him back in reality with the rest of us."
This son of a ruler hates Faline with a passion, and would do anything
to make sure he perishes like a dog, nobody seems to feel as strong
about this compared to the prince, who has been wishing for Faline's
decline in every breath seemingly since he came into existence.
How this happened, it's not exactly sure, but some say that they
were born to be against eachother and to fight until the end.

Rex Karrow MARKSLEY THE BRAVE OF THE KARROWSAL KNIGHTS
"I want my friend back! I don't care if he hurt me, he's my friend!"
The main knight of the court and the one who Faline valiantly
protected himself from, Rex really is not as bad as it seems.
He seems to act nice towards Faline while also working for his
worst enemy. It's awful strange, especially after injuring him,
but Faline understands the issues he could face working for...him.

Kerry Shawcross SHAWCROSS THE WISE OF THE KARROWSAL KNIGHTS
"He may be a bit of trouble, but we need him back."
Another Knight from the prince's court, Shawcross also doesn't
seem to mind Faline too badly, of course he must do his job
against him, but it doesn't seem as if the knight wants to
hurt Faline, which is very strange indeed, almost stranger
than Rex's kindness.

Jesse Oresten MAYOR JESSE ORESIEIN
"At least he's a hero in his mind...
though I want to help him become one in this reality."
A kind mayor of a small town, they seem to welcome Faline
with open arms, imploring him to stay a while and to join
in the festivities of the town. Faline of course takes up that
offer quite a lot, the male making the stops along the way
that are needed to truly enjoy the town.

PET LORE

CARROL THE CLOWNFISH:
Carol is one of the pets in Faline's life
that actually existed in the real world. And the
way that Faline got him was actually pretty
sweet. His friends decided to go along with him
to a store to buy a pet fish after Faline was
inspired to take care of one after a trip to the
aquarium. Of course there were no clownfish
at the store because that would be illegal,
so at the time, Carrol didn't exactly exist.
It was actually Caroline the betta fish!
However, after a few months of Caroline
being around, something strange happened.
Faline found a clownfish. Not only stranded
in a random fishbowl in the middle of a
beach, but seemingly injured. Faline brought
the clownfish to a vet to see if they could do
anything, but unfortunately they could not,
but directed him to a wildlife center in the
town he lived in. After checking in and
finding out that the clownfish would be okay,
Faline was told that he would be taking care
of the fish. Thus Carrol came to be, both as
a fish in a saltwater aquarium, and a fish in
the open water who follows a giant ship.

POLLY THE PARROT:
Polly was not originally something in the
real world. Polly was originally a creation of Faline's
Active mind. Polly was supposed to be the captain's partner,
Every pirate had a parrot named Polly, for some reason.
However, while in his head the bird simply decided to stay
around, the bird in real life, it was...kind of sad how they
came to be in Faline's arms during scary nights
at the mental hospital. Polly was originally
supposed to be a bird used for educational
shows at a zoo, where he was an example
about how not all birds are meant to be pets.
However, during Polly's time there, they got
their wings injured by a child who did not
understand the meaning of 'do not touch'.

The bird was put in the hospital as a comfort
animal for some of the patients there, but
the parrot never seemed to comfort anyone
as much as they comforted Faline. And just
as Faline grew an attachment to the bird,
Polly felt an attachment to the kalon.
Making them both best friends in Faline's
mind, and in the real world. Polly may be
worried for Faline as he is often in a state
of alternate thought, but the bird understands
and only wishes to make sure he is happy
in the end.

SANDY THE LABORADOR:
While Sandy doesn't show up in the world of
the mind, and really isn't even Faline's pet
Sandy is a very loyal service dog who adores
Faline and tries to help as much as she can. Used by the
Scientists and doctors to comfort patients, Sandy shows
up in Faline's room quite a lot for a lot of reasons. She
calms him down when he has a breakdown, places her
body under Faline if he is having a situation involving
hitting his head against walls, and even just simply
snuggles up to Faline when he needs a friend to be
around during times of pain. Faline likes Sandy,
Sandy is a good friend for Faline and he appreciates
how the dog can understand his problems, even in a
way that nobody can really understand because well,
She's a dog. BUT either way, Faline really does enjoy
having Sandy around, even if sometimes he can't
truly enjoy his company.

She unfortunately isn't in his mind as a dog, mostly
because she brings him back to reality. And such a
thing being in his hallucination world just doesn't make
sense. Sandy is a purely real-life sweetheart, and if
Faline wants her hugs and snuggles, and her happy
bark and all the things that make him smile, then
he has to come back to reality. And sometimes,
it's that fact which keeps him from being there forever.

David Freebird DUKE DAVID OF KARROWSAL
"Such a poor creature, stuck in his own reality, god I wish that was me."
A higher-up in society, David doesn't seem to give much mind
to Faline. Often times he keeps to himself, writing letters
ordering other kalons to be culled, and demanding that certain
individuals in his town be eliminated. Which, most times,
does not include Faline. So he's cool.

Cammo Chaplain CAPTAIN ORDEALE OF THE DACERIZE PIRATES
"Pleaaaaase god, bring him back! I need him back in my classes!"
Captain of a pirate crew based around dance, Cammo seems
to be a friend in the hell that is Faline's constant dodging
of royal authorities. Often times, this pirate will actually
teach him and other sea travellers how to dance,which is sweet.

Zentangle Lastrange CAPTAIN LASTRANGE OF THE KARROWSAL NAVY
"I will sue the doctors if they do not return my friend."
Leader of the prince's naval fleet, Zen and Faline have been
in a cat and mouse chase for years now. Not only due to
Zen's employment with the prince, but also due to how both
parties have been fighting on the ocean since their father's days.

Acaco Donnase TSAR DONNASE OF RUSSIA
"Acaco wishes to see Faline back in reality with him."
Lover of the prince, and what Faline can imagine as their
better half, the Tsar stationed at the russian border
always seems too busy to pay anyone any mind.
Though it's good to know that he's said that arresting
Faline would be some kind of international crime.

SIDE A ; REALITY'S PAIN

Faline has always wanted someone to love...sometimes, it's almost like he has someone already and sings about them. He's not very good at singing, but it's still motivational for others to see him try.

Saying that Faline hasn't thought about ending his life...that'd just be a lie. However, he's stopped himself. Knowing he has a great life. Maybe not in real life, but in his mind his life is an excellent adventure.

Faline has this song on a playlist in real life, and it seems to help him go into his safe place of his mind. Others sometimes believe he's under the influence of drugs thanks to this song, but he tries to ignore them when they say this, and he enjoys the sweet tunes of what he wishes was his life.

Not all of his thoughts in his head go to his world where he's happy and where the world isn't at rough, sometimes they go to a much darker place, a place where he's being tormented and judged by everything in reality, and even some things that shouldn't be able to exist in any reality.

A classic song that Faline loves. Faline has been told that the song isn't the best, or that it doesn't fit him, but he doesn't mind. He just thinks it's a nice song...added with the fact that he sees himself as the child who is a monster, and judge frollo as the world against him.

Just because Faline has a bad life, doesn't mean he can't enjoy memes. Sure, it's a meme involving the person at the end saying how originality is now shunned in the modern era and to succeed you need to pander to everyone, but that totally isn't why Faline relates to it! Totally.

James took one last breath of the salty sea air before he turned back to the land. If only he could live at the beach. Then his dad would never be able to bother him about all his "responsibilities".
Alas, bad things would happen if James didn't do what his father told him to. His sister had refused the work her whole life, and when she moved out, their parents disowned her and disabled her college funds and all her other bank accounts. Her life had been completely ruined because of her independence. And it wasn't even like making cakes was enough to do that do you.
James shook his head to clear himself of the dark thoughts. That's over, he thought. I'll do what dad tells me until I move out, and everything will be okay. Besides, he only had two more years left of school.
And boy, they seemed like forever.

"Where have you been, boy?"
James winced as he turned around to see his father looming over him, a nasty snarl on his face.
"Dad, I-"
"You're thirteen minutes late. Explain yourself!"
"There was traffic, and I- I'm sorry Dad, it won't happen again."
His dad gave him another long look before sighing. "Fine, boy, but make sure of it. I've got a long line of customers and its your turn to run the front desk."
James stifled a groan. Of all the things to do at a world-famous cake shop were you never got to rest, he got to talk to some of the weirdest people in town.
As he put on his uniform, his thoughts drifted to Miza, a girl he'd met at the beach a few weeks ago. She'd been so pretty and nice, always laughing and never seeming to have a care in the world. He wished he could know more about her, but he hadn't gotten any of her contact information. He had come to the beach after school every day since to see if he could try to find her in between his work hours. He hadn't been successful yet.
James stepped out into the main desk area and gave a long huff as he stared at the seemingly endless line that lead out the door. Just like always. Might as well get on with it, He thought as he greeted the first customer. It's not like its going to get easier...

As James gave the last call for the restaurant to close, he gave a deep sigh of relief. It was 10:00- earlier than usual to close up. Today was technically a work holiday, but like James' dad always said, "In a cake shop there aren't any holidays." Which James had always thought was stupid.
Suddenly the little bell ringed to signify a customer was coming in. "Excuse me, we're-" James snapped, but stopped as soon as he saw who he was talking to.
It was Miza.
"Miza, I'm so sorrry, I-" James stuttered.
"James, its fine." Miza brushed it off, chuckling a little. "I didn't know you worked here. Pretty big job for a highschooler."
Oh, great. james thought. Now I have to tell her my dad owns the place...
"Well, uh," James started awkwardly. "I didn't exactly choose it, and I'm not paid, soo..." He felt his cheeks grow warm.
Miza looked confused. "Isn't that slave labor?" She asked, looking serious.
"No, my dad's the owner." James replied.
"Oh." Miza looked unimpressed. "You could've told me that."
There was a moment of awkward silence.
"So, uh," James started. "You available any time soon? Friday maybe?"
"Oh! Yeah, where would you want to go?" Miza replied, blushing a little.
"Oh, you know, the movies or something?" James proposed.
"Sure." Miza giggled a little bit. "Meet you there." With that she stood and walked out the door.
As soon as she left, James' father came barging through the door. "Is the shop cleaned up?" He barked.
"Sure is, Dad," James replied, light as a feather.

What are these?:

Merakis are lynx-like creatures. Raised
in an age of pollution and gases, they've
developed a defense mechanism - tails
built of poisonous goop. This goop can
be sprayed out of their teeth as well, as
having a tail made of poison gives you a
remarkable immunity. They are tame as
well as lax and can be made amicable.

☆ - merakis are a closed species. you may not make one of your own unless you have an MYO ticket.

☆ - users must contact a member of staff if they have any questions regarding the species. regular members may not answer questions unless the answer is stated in the rules, and the user may only quote the rules and add a small explanation.

☆ - to keep merakis fairly similar, the tail must stay as goop. you can edit the tail if you have a radical or above MYO ticket or edit.

☆ - please pm staff about becoming a moderator; to avoid spam, we ask that you don't ask questions about staff positions on the main thread. however, the artist search will always be open for artist-related questions.

☆ - fandom-based merakis are allowed, however we ask that you don't make meme related merakis. ask me or cyber; if you have questions about exceptions. (ex. an exception would be a meraki based off a vine but still has a strong personality and is not entirely based off that vine;; a spongebob meraki would not be allowed.)

☆- have a suggestion about how the species should be run? pm me, we need all the help we can get.

☆ - the limit of merakis you can own is currently 3. please do not go above this limit or you will be asked to host a readoption.

☆ - the hm & custom system is still under way. please do not ask about it, it's being worked on.

☆ - want to join the official discord server for benefits like being alerted earlier of new adopts and staff openings? pm me or cyber; to get a link.

☆ - do not steal someone else's concept for merakis, or you will be refunded your custom and have your meraki revoked.

☆ - you may sell your meraki, be it for usd, euros, points, cs pets and such, but please run it by staff so we make sure you're not getting paid too much - we don't want these to be used only for profit.

☆ - please list the edits for your meraki when you first post them! this makes it much easier on nursery and moderators when checking over your custom (for approval) or regular meraki (to check edits for breeding).

☆ - artists may award up to 3 ru's per meraki adopt, this is to avoid making a bunch of merakis that are far too similar to the original adopt.

☆ - please be respectful to everyone, and don't beg for merakis. this is absolutely not tolerated as each and every one of us has worked hard for our merakis.

☆ - staff get one unlim groovy and under MYO ticket per month. if they save up during the course of two months, they get one mystic trait unlim under MYO ticket.
