When was first born, he knew he was diffrent. While being so young, he was uncertain of this diffrence. He soon put that thought away, though, as he was just a pup, and as such, was easily distracted.

He again notice this diffrence when the females he liked paid him no mind, although he was a good hunter, and terribly strong. But they ignored him, going for the weaker, stronger, even the cripples. Anyone but him. But, due to his sadness, the diffrence was not obvious to him.

Shakina ran through the forest, determined to catch this one, determined to finish it off once and for all. The beast had been haunting his pack's territory for some time now, and he knew that by killing it, he would finally not be disregarded. They would love him, accept him, finally.

Shakina darted through the trees, gaining on the beast, the terror. But then he tripped. He cursed himself for not watching his paws and got back up, running faster to make up for the lost ground. He jumped, ducked, dodged trees as the monster wove it's way through the forest. It did not want to be killed.

Shakina smiled to himself. THis was too easy. The beast was leaving behind signs of it being here- a broken branch here, a peice of fur there- and it was also slow. It was like itwanted to be caught.

Shakina reached a clearing suddenly, and then the trail was lost. Shakina looked for something, anything, to reveal the presence of the beast. The wolf thought about trying to sniff, but instead he snorted. [i]Yeah right, he thought, Like i'm suddenly able to smell.

You see, Shakina had never had a sense of smell. His mother could tell, could see how he struggled, and named him beautiful. Know that he would be embarresed, she changed the name to something that meant beautiful. His mother had always loved him. She had always been there for him. Till, of course, the fire ast winter...

Shakina shook his head, hearing something. He turned, snarling, "Come out! I know your there!'

Shakina watched the bush he had heard the noise from shake as the beast began to come to him. Shakina smiled. It had proven it's slowness and clumciness. This would be [/i]easy.

Shakina's smile soon faded as the beast continued to grow. It walked out on it's hind legs, glaring down at the wolf. Shakina had heard of these- he never thought they were real.

But it appeared they were. It appeared that Shakina was looking in the eyes of a bear.

Shakina shivered with fear, turning to run away. But the bear was on him. He turned, not thinking it would follow. A fatal mistake. The bear nipped at it. It got Shakina's ear, ripping it right off. Shakina yelped, his ear bleeding. But the bear wasn't done there.

The ear grabbed the poor thing in it's mouth, ramming it's head on a rock. Shakina saw all black. THe wolf then passed out.

Shakina awoke. Or atleast, he thoguht he had. But he realized he couldn't hear. He couldn't see. And he had never been able to smell. THe only hint that he was awake was that he could feel, could taste, the saliva in his mouth. Shakina shivered, lonely, realizing that he would forever be stuck in his own world.

Alone.

The dog sighed. Not that it could hear it. THe dog sighed for the pleasure of sighing.

The dog had made up this story, and wished half of it was true. It wished it was a wolf. It wished it was strong. It wished it had lost it's ear to a bear.

But instead, it was a dog, a blind, deaf, and smelless. Instead, it was small. Instead, it lost it's ear to a rat. A rat. THat was supposed to be prey.

The dog ate a blackberry sadly, wishing something good would come to it. But thats all it could do. WIsh.
