how do u color over the shades...... like there is shade on the pic, and u want to color where it will still show shade..... how do u do tht ? i can never figure it out.................. but ya the anime is soo adorible

You know how to do layers right? how i shade is i make a separate layer above the coloring layer below the lines layer, example: layer 1 is lines layer 2 is shade layer 3 is color you have to put layer 1 above both then layer 2 right after layer 1, layer 3 is color and you want both lines and shade to show so layer 3 is last...
What i do to shade is i take the color black and color everywhere i want shaded, then i just lower the "opacity" to 55- (55 or lower).

name: Moonlit Shadowdancer (Shadow for short)
gender: Female
age:20 years
Story: Shadow raced from her pursuer. Acctually, her given name was Moonlit Shadowdancer, but her dather had insisted on calling her Shadow. Her eyes stung with new tears. The terrible beast chasing her had killed all the family she had ever known. It was dark out, with the moon hidden behind the clouds. She didn't understand how it was still chasing her. Usually, she could melt away into the night, with out a trace just by using her willpower. The old brute seemed to know exactly where she was no matter how hard she tried. Shadow inhaled and exhaled the cold night air. It seared her lungs, and Shadow was afraid she wouldn't last much longer. Her whole body ached and her muscles were screaming to stop. But she couldn't. Otherwise, the same thing that happened to her family would also happen to her. A huge redwood tree lay in her path. She leapt high in the air over it. Shadow landed in a grassy clearing, with a rock face on the other two sides of the tree. There was a small cave she could see with the entrance covered with hanging lichen carved in the rock.  A small stream tricked right through the middle of the clearing. At the end of it, three pools of water collected and the moon reflected off of them beautifully. She looked over her shoulder, and heard angry barking and scrabbling noises. The thing couldn't get in. She was safe! Shadow went to the pools of water and dipped her head in for a drink. She jerked back in surprise as a little fish was swallowed by an almost identical  fish about the size of her two front paws. At least she wouldn't starve. Shadow took a step back, and realized that the center pool of water was quite deep, even though it didn't appear to be so.  She could see that the circular hole went at least ten feet deep, with plenty of little nooks and crannies for all sorts of animals to hide. The other two pools where pretty shallow compared to the big one. When Shadow dipped her paw in it, the water only came up to her ankle. A little peach tree grew nearby. Shadow set off to explore the rest of the little clearing. She followed the rock face, and near the end of the clearing, it abruptly stopped. Thick, mossy trees with vines  interwoven between the narrow spaces where they grew and kept an creatures out from this side of the clearing. The only entrance, and exit was jumping the redwood log. Shadow crept into the cave. She smelled mouse and heard skittering on the hard cave floor. Shadow narrowed her eyes, and pounced. She quickly gave the mouse a killing bite, and then ate it. At the back of the cave, there was a shallow dip that would be perfect for sleeping, if it was something soft in it. Shadow walked back to the back of the clearing, and tore as much moss as she could carry off and dragged it to the cave, where she arranged it to her liking. Shadow heard a little chirp. She poked her head out, and saw a little canary perched on the peach tree. "How cute" she thought, and went back to her "nest", and promptly fell asleep.
