I would say reference reference reference as much as possible, look up pictures and reference off those until you feel more comfortable; it takes practice before really getting comfortable with everything.

Obviously some things will be different but, the site basically will have almost everything on the Sweetnose genes with visual references; especially helpful when you need to figure out eye, nose, and paw colors since those are really important.

Sorry for taking so long, I never look at these- it's normally the other admin Neah who replies to everyone and looks at people to hire.

Unfortunately given the information you've provided, I'm going to have to let you know that I am going to be unable to accept your application. While we are looking for good artists, our main focus is on the community; so not being able to talk with the rest of our staff would leave you isolated and not really involved. Even as ghost artists our staff is really connected and we want to all enjoy our time here, and not make it strictly about the designs; if you have any questions you can feel free to reply / pm me, otherwise thank you for your entry and best of luck in your future endeavors ^^

My apologies for it taking so long to look at these. Normally the other owner Neah responds to these since I normally focus on other areas of the species since I generally never have enough time.

My first suggestion would be to try and fill out the application a bit more. You've missed some spots and didn't fill out some areas. The more in depth you are the better it is and the easier it is for me to decide if you'd be a good fit on our staff team, otherwise it's just gonna be a really long limbo of 'I'm not really sure' between everyone.

My second comment is to try and reference off dogs; from what it looks like, most of your dogs seem to have more horse-like appearances than dogs. It's fine being a horse artist, we have multiple people who do horse designs on our team- but we can't really judge design accuracy if they're not based on the dog genetics.

This is a good visual guide to get you started. If you read over it, it'll cover things like color and the markings, so it'll help differentiate things that might be getting mixed up. Above all, reference reference reference, and experiment with tools you might not be used to. Otherwise, looking good so far and hope to see more ^^

I think my first suggestion would be to work on your application more; it is fairly bare and not complete. We cannot consider artists if the application is not filled out, so that would be the first thing. Things like the past experience, your contributions, strengths and weaknesses are what I mean to be specific.


Concerning designs I would like to see some more to see what you can do. Try out some harder designs like merle or brindle- tools like airbrush and watercolor tool are gonna be your friend for those, so experiment with those. Do stuff you're not used to doing.
For the genotypes I would look at the information thread on sweetnoses, the site linked in the front page is only for reference for things like to see colors or to see what goes with what eye color. The information thread has the list of genes ^^

The paws and the eyes either have to match, or incorporate both colors red and yellow in them. (Using the airbrush, perhaps?)

The circle on the bandana is for you to put the charm on it, so that charm also needs to match the eyes / paws.
There's nothing I can really critique you on design-wise specificially, other than making sure your entry meets the design requirements of Starshines ^^ '
