Little bit of work left to do! :^)

She is the value of Independence. %88. I 'm trying to do like independent strong woman vibes here lmao, we'll see...
Her animal will be a Crane, as it is independent and solitary its self.

Many cultures consider the crane a symbol of solitude, flying alone across the sky or found in a river by itself looking for fish. In truth, the level of social interaction varies by the time of year. They are territorial during the mating season and will often be found alone within their territory, but tend to be more social during the rest of the year and move in large flocks for safety reasons. Many societies, such as the Japanese, honour the crane for its grace and individuality.

I used your lines (1), but edited them, hope that's okay. :^)
Plus tried to do a bit of an oriental design like you've sorta done in your past creations..

. Common horns
. Common markings

EDIT: --- Also, i wasn't sure if there was a specific brush setting to use for line art.. Please tell me if there is or smth, sorryy!

Caluf Entry 1 based on this drawing by avocados
by persimmon @ Thu Jul 27, 2017 4:27 pm [Reply]

Kind of based off of oceans and stingrays. I wanted the ribbon and eyes to be brighter in order to sort of reveal the caluf's "inner-self" which might be brighter and more cheerful? This is not my favorite design, but I have more.

I'd rather go for full-time artist, but I wouldn't mind guest artist?
Next entry will include edits. ^^

Very simple babe! I added some jewelry to help spice it up (and gave the hair some texture)

s; hair, shine (the shine is the gold stripes of the tail...if you look closely, it shines)
jewelry list; nose ring, gauges, and tongue ring

I was just thinking the other day how I wish I had more of these kids tbh

Have you been an adopt artist before?; Yes
If so where? Link?; owner of Hyrulian Gypsies, have done stuff for Padro Horses on Deviant Art [PM me for the link to my gallery, not linking it here for the fact of I don't want anything stolen], Worked as an artist for Kleeares for awhile [designs I did for them are outdated and eye sores, I ask to offer revamps, but never got a reply].
Do you know horse coat colors?; Yes I do.
Do you know horse genetics?; I do, I've spent time trying learn them and for the most part am pretty solid.
Are you able to commit to the breed and help it grow?; Yes. I'll be in college, but while my own adopt is being worked on between old mods and artists with myself, it'll be nice to be able to work on another adopt on the side. I'd be more than willing to commit.

mewmew. @ Thu Jul 27, 2017 1:29 pm

All of your entries are stunning!

Wip albino kal

Suggestions, tips and critique appreciated and encouraged!

benevolentWanderer @ Thu Jul 27, 2017 10:55 am

To start with: this design looks really good from a distance, and the eye and shine design are great. Up close, there are some things that could use a hand.

Lines look a little uncertain - you've got some hanging ends on the front left upper arm and the back of the ears, and your line weighting is jagged across the whole image. Digital lining, especially with software that behaves like Photoshop (which Chickenpaint happens to) is much more difficult than traditional. It may be to your advantage to use a style that minimizes lining. Here, I'd say the approach to take is to use colored, not black, lines; a dark but not super-saturated pink or tan goes well.

You have color peeking out from under lines around the body, most noticeable around the chest, face and tail, a spot of teal on the furthest-right and furthest-left toe beans, and some bleed of pink outwards from the shine. This is pretty typical for WIP, but it's also one of the early things that people might notice on a relatively standardized model. (Changing the line color also makes stuff like that less obvious.)

True albino is tough for color schemes. I think you should consider pulling out the color a bit more. (Incidentally, toe beans are bare skin, so they'll be at least as dark as the inner ear)
A mixture of the pinks you have with hints of the purples from the eyes on the areas where the pelt is short would help tie the design together. At the current transparency, it's really hard to see what you already laid down, which is a shame!

I can see some faint speckles on his rear... so he's not completely albino. There are a number of other animal color variants that have traits of a true albino - for example, lilac and Argenti Cream gerbils have the eyes, which, when combined with mutations that cause larger white areas (pied, mottled) might leave only a few (pale) colored patches visible.

You could also bump the color subtly by adding a shading layer. This is easiest to do by duping your flats layer, filling the entire thing with pastel color(s) from the design, setting it to multiply, and then soft-erasing appropriately. However, that requires a lot of comfort with your tools and a steady hand, so you end up undoing every other stroke when you're doing it for the first couple times. It's not my personal favorite, but it's useful for faux cell shading, and you can change the obviousness of the shading on the fly by just changing hte opacity of the layer.

(...btw don't forget to adjust the eye/tongue in the corner there. You did such a nice job with the ones on the model!)

Overall: I wanted to look closer at about 3 entries out of ~40, which means yours is eye-catching, but I'd guess it needs a bit more omph to get a callback from the people scoring for real.

friday @ Thu Jul 27, 2017 12:25 pm

Yeah i knew it was kind of messy and that stuff was sticking out i just didn't feel like fixing it
I don't have pen pressure which stinks because it means I can't get the right line width

I added the speckles as a plain white design is kinda boring and kalons are sparkle-animals and don't have genetic coat colors anyway and a friend suggested adding faint markings

Thanks for the line color and shading tips, that's a good idea

This entry was pretty lazy tbh but i'm glad you took a look at it to help! Thank you!

I'm on mobile so making a clean design is kind of hard but i might make it someday

I'll try out some of those things you suggested c:

The idea of putting the blues in there is helpful too
Sorry this is a really choppy reply haha
