Akuren's personality: He'sa pretty happy-go-lucky guy, but in battle and other serious times, he's absolutely no-nonsense. He is occasionally caught dwelling on the death of his brother, that he knows is his fault.

Akurens backstory/history:Rakshini padded across the camp in which the Akuren lived. For that day, he was to find out what he was to become after his training. His elder brother, Tsumark, had become a healer. But this was not the path young Rakshini wanted. He wanted to be a warrior. Fighting, risking life and limb each day, and having pride amongst the tribe. He approached the elders. They would assign him a mentor who would train him in the arts of the chosen path. The oldest of the Old Ones smiled. His teeth had fallen out long ago, and his eyes and ears were barely good for much anymore. But he could still see. He could see into the hearts of others, and tell what their destined path would be. He closed his glazed-over eyes and gently placed his fragile paw on Rakshini’s head. This boy had a light, pure heart, one that would become the brave and valiant heart of a warrior. He smiled again and in a hollow, breakable voice, yet at the same time the strongest of all voices, spoke, and said; “This child’s heart is one of the purest I have seen in all my days here in this world. He will make a fine warrior someday,” At this, Rakshini’s face lit up, and the elders spoke to him the words that had no meaning to him at that time, but would soon prove to be the ones he would regret he had not listened to. “My dear boy, being a warrior does not mean that you are any better of heart, mind, or stature than anyone else, and you should not take your training lightly,” Then, a dark colored Akuren stepped forth and removed the feather from behind Rakshini’s ear. She then clipped a small pendant with two feathers, one gold and one grey, on his opposite ear. “I shall be your mentor from this day forth” she said to him, with a smile on her face. “Remember what the Elders have told you today, and you shall fare well in life, as well as in battle.”

150 years later
I remember the day that my brother returned from gathering herbs covered in blood and limping very badly. He collapsed at the middle of our camp, and we all crowded around him, hoping we could do something to help. This was fifty years ago, when I had just finished my training and become a warrior. I had just returned to the camp myself, coming back from one of the many walks I tend to take when I need to think. I didn’t know I had led a Tarso to where my brother was. I never took the words the elders spoke to me so many years ago to heart. I was proud. Too proud. And my brother wound up paying the price. That day, they had said my heart was light. Now, I know grief; guilt. I know now that I am here for the good of the clan, not myself, and I guess it took my brother going to the stars for me to realize that.

2)Akuren are small; only about a foot and a half
3)Akuren inhabit the planet Krutaeni
4)Akuren have short muzzles so they can see underneath them
