Hey everyone! I have sketched up and *attempted* to line this species, but I was just struggling to get it to look right!

What are Highland Surfers?
Highland Surfers are cow-like creatures with shark tails and fins. They wear a special helmet full of seawater and little fish, making it possible for them to live on land. They love the ocean, and their favorite pastime is surfing.

Contest Details
First and foremost, DO NOT just trace over my sketch to make the lines. You can use it as a guide for some of the features or something, but I do not like how they look and would like something new. If you do this, I will ignore your entry and you will be disqualified. Please get creative.

Species features:
-Fluffy, cow-like body
-Shark tail and fin
-Face Helmet
-Fish and water inside of tail and fin, as well as helmet
-Collars for their surfboard straps

-Lines drawn by you, the artist!
-Different color layers for different features, making it easy to navigate for future artists of the species as well (like a layer for the body color, a layer for the helmet color
-Labeled Layers
-Reference lines for eye color and color palette
-Include the features listed above/included in the sketch

I am very hesitant to do this but... I may be interested in some pre-made characters. Please note that I would only consider higher quality characters! I am hesitant on this as I don’t want to be spammed with a bunch of lower quality characters; it’s not that they are bad, but I’m looking for something a little higher! I would be willing to even purchase other pre-mades after the contest, or add more (if I really like the character) if you do win a prize for them! Please PM me these, I don’t want this thread flooded. I will not stop looking for entries here; I love the creativity you guys have shown so far! :3

It’s not that likely I’ll take a pre-made as I’d have to really connect with the character! To add onto what I said about adding a little more to the prize for a pre-made, depending on the quality of your character and if I connect really well, I’d be willing to add on C$ or even DA points! I just felt like I explained it awkwardly up there lol.

The species you'll be drawing is Terradogs. Terradogs are basic canines, their anatomy is similar to that of a german shepherd except with a less pointy snout, or a Bernese mountain dog but more muscular (or with less hanging fluff). Tail and ears resemble the shepherds. If you're basing it off a shepherd, the neck should be a little more defined.

Distinguishing features:
Its a terrarium dog. the whole area thats been marked in red (or something similar to it) should be glass. inside (preferably in a sub-group or another layer) should be a terrarium. keep reading to see the type of terrarium im looking for.
If you want, you can mark some of the legs as a terrarium. I'd like this, but make sure its in a separate layer or group to the main lines. this is optional as its a reasonably easy thing to draw.
Plant growth. Terradogs have plant growth along the back of their neck and on the top of their heads, and at the base and the top of their tail. This is optional but highly preferred, you can put it on a separate layer.
Tall, but not super tall

Types of terrariums:
This will improve your chances of winning.
When you draw the terrarium in the chest, either you can leave a hollow glass area, or you can draw lines for a terrarium. if you draw multiple, it'll increase your chances.

cacti

Suggested layers layout (feel free to use this or do something else) (this is saying each point below is on a separate layer/layer group):
-basic lines, this is the general canine shape as well as the glass chest area.
-(opt) Leg glass outlines, just some lines
-glass gleam, including gleam for legs (if you drew that)
-(HIGHLY SUGGESTED) a separate group below the main lines for the different terrarium options

Other suggested features that will help your chances:
baby lines (please please please this will hugely increase your chances)
base colour
ref, including eyes nose tongue and palette

If you don't win, you can keep your lines. You can either make them giftlines or ych's, or you can PM me about what you'd need to change to potentially turn your lines into a new species. Lines I think had a lot of effort put in may also get a small thank you gift.

Final important info
If you don't finish the lines by the due date, thats fine, you can keep adding after.
Extensions may be requested up to 5 days before the end.
The end date for this comp is the second of June, in a month.
You may post wips, however I will not give you feedback.
