Sunpaw sat behind a bush, pondering. She decided to walk back to the moonpool. lying down, she touched her nose the the still waters. an icy rush swept her from nose to tail tip as she fell asleep. when she opened her eyes, everything was dark. Suddenly, a small speck appeared in the sky. then another, and another. a faint shape appeared before her. it was her mother, who had died almost three moons ago. "starclan is always with you" her mother whispered, "do not be afraid. you will discover the meaning in good time." her mother, the specks of light, and then finally the darkness vanished. she opened her eyes. she was still sitting at the moonpool. "I guess there's no sense worrying about it" Sunpaw told herself sensibly, licking down her bristling fur. standing up, she headed back to camp.

This is my beloved dog Jake who is a wiemerianer. He died about 7 years ago but I can't forget about him cuz he was the most loving and trusting dog in the world.

A bush crackles. Sunpaw swirls around. "who's there?" she mews in confusion, peering behind the bush. A soft voice starts whispering, just barely too soft to hear. Sunpaw strains her ears. she finally makes out one word-

Alarmed, Sunpaw starts running, like her paws have wings. she does not know where she is going. Suddenly her paws stop- and she looks down. She's at the moonpool. Nervously, not sure if she should be doing this, she touches her nose to the cold, shining water. she is enveloped in a dream. In the dream she is walking alone... on an open field. she hears whispering again. it grows loud enough to hear. it says again,

Sunpaw wants to run again, but her paws are frozen to the ground. she is suddenly in front of a rushing stream. there are cats that she does not recognize, on the other side. a black warrior is helping a queen carry her kits. two apprentices are sitting with another cat The medicine cat? wonders Sunpaw. The apprentices are shivering and wet, like they had fallen into the stream. a cold wind blows by with a few snow flurries. But it's the middle of greenleaf! Sunpaw thinks in confusion. but she continues to watch the scraggly band of cats. the snow grows thicker until it's a full out blizzard. the cats shelter under an overhanging rock in the field, but she can make out a blurry shape still struggling to get behind the mild shelter. suddenly it stops short and falls over. A white and shaggy she-cat bunches her legs as if to dash after the small cat, but a large tom with brown fur stops her. the small blurry shape stops moving. the white queen lets out an anguished cry but is again stopped short by the tom, who wraps his tail around her front paws. the whole scene starts to fade, leaving a very nervous and bewildered Sunpaw sitting by the moonpool. "what could this mean?" she whispers in shock..." what is it about? what tragedy will cause those cats to leave?"
