Welcome to Flying Fox Farms!
Born from a love of genetics and the desire to try new patterns, these are ADOPTABLE breedable horses that I am making to work on structured genetics, lineages, and generational inheritance. I am also focusing heavily on the art aspect, working with new techniques, patterns, and colors that I am trying to match by eye.

HIATUS IS OVER!

Note that in honor of Pride Month, all hooves and eyes of June adopts will have pride flag colors, or just bright colors!

HOW TO ADOPT:

Code: Select all: Name: (keep the FFF, you may change the name) Gender: Halter Color: (Will be used to signify the design is sold!) 3 facts about them: (could be anything, like favorite snack or personality or what color their food bucket is) NO ADOPTION FEE--waived for 1 year celebration

Post this ON THEIR PAGE and link the adopt in your trade, please! Everyone is FCFS
COPPA: send the trade, and name one of the pets which number you want to adopt, and another what color for the halter!
IF YOU ARE ADOPTING A G2+ AND PARENTS ARE NOT LISTED: ask me on their page. I have a spreadsheet and can check this but am too lazy to go back and add it retroactively at this point.

Trade sent? (price is 3 wishlist pets common-uncommon of any year, or items)

My only rules:
1. Credit me for the design (TH: LorenFangor).
2. Don't resell without further art!
3. Keep the FFF before their names. FFF stands for Flying Fox Farms, and is the name of the project.

Apparently, every horse prior to 211 with Rabicano is incorrect. This includes more than 30 adopts, as near as I can tell, and I am NOT going to be updating them.

UPDATE 4/21/23
Apparently, a number of horses with the Sabino pattern are... wrong. As near as I can tell, the following adopts are affected:
70, 124
I am unsure at this time if these adopts will be corrected.

I updated the cover. I used a mouse and the gradient tool. Please don't judge me the pink horse is holding my fragile emotions together in a vague state of happy today.

UPDATE 3/27/23
HIATUS ANNOUNCEMENT
I will return to FFF in May. Thank you for your continued support. I have too much going on right now and I REALLY need a break from FFF and the stress it tends to cause. For every 12m design, I spend around 30-45 minutes doing the genetics, drafts, checking values, updating the excel file, and more. All of which you don't see. I need a break and I feel like reaching 200 has been a massive accomplishment.
For now, I'll be doing other linearts to ease my artblock.

UPDATE 3/10/23
We are nine days from the 1 year anniversary of Flying Fox Farms!
As such, for the next week, adoptions are FREE with a limit of two adopts per person, provided you still fill out the form!
As far as the 200 horse celebration, one addition I've planned on is adding rollable color mutations. I am still working out how these will pass on from parent to baby.

UPDATE 12/21/22
I am on hiatus for medical reasons. I had surgery 10/20/22 and since then I've repeatedly been sick. This will resume in 2023!

UPDATE 10/15/22
The next batch is Generation 3. Thanks to the spreadsheet, I'm ready for it, but it will take time.
Also, I have surgery this coming week, so art may take a break for up to a MONTH so I can heal.

I'm back! My goal is four adopts a week, or more if possible.
Thanks for your patience with my health issues.
Reminder: over 125 of these are still available! The adoption fee is a suggestion, not a requirement, and you can offer a single higher rarity pet to cover the full fee.

UPDATE 5/6/22
I am doing sets of eight with a common theme: solids, appaloosas, white markings, same base with different markings, etc. It helps me make this less monotonous.

I am on hiatus. Two days ago I lost my first service dog and I'm not okay right now. I'll continue this when I'm in a better place mentally.

I have instituted some backend quality of life changes that have dramatically sped up a part of the process.

I've not abandoned this, I found out with THREE DAYS' NOTICE that my new service dog was arriving! She got in last night so I'm taking a few days to spend extra time with her and do training walks. I also had to deep-clean the apartment to prepare and then I spent two days working for my mother in exchange for some extra cash that I'll be using for vet bills since she's not had all her shots and needs to be spayed.
So, quick break, because Padmé and I had such short notice about her coming home!

So, a quick FAQ:
-Can I adopt one? Do you sell designs?
No, these are not for adoption. If you are interested, I'd be willing to recreate a pattern of your choice though!
UPDATE 4/8/22: I will part with pets once they have been bred once! You may canonly keep their foals in their lives or cut them out and say they never existed.
If there is a G2 batch after the G1 batch, they have been bred! You may change gender/etc IDC.
Anything with a timer under an hour is three wishlist pets (common-uncommon).
Anything over an hour is one rare.
I doubt any exist that are over an hour, but that says a lot about my effort into some of the designs.

-Are these genetics based off real life?
Kinda. I'm using a generator for them, but I believe the genetics it uses may be out of date.. For my dog adopts, the answer is generally yes: I worked in canine genetics for several years.

-What will you do with the horses upon reaching your goal? What even is your goal?
My goal is to reach and create a generation 10 non-inbred pet with no gaps in lineage: both parents have two parents, as do their parents, all the way back a full ten generations.
After this concludes... I have no idea.
