Inspired by this image taken by the Voyager 1 Spacecraft in 1990 of the Earth at the edge of the solar system. (We're that tiny little half a pixel in the brown band.) Especially today - the first day of the new year (after the world was suppose to end no less XP) I felt like taking a step back and getting some perspective in a quick painting. Carl Sagan's quote above made on the Voyager 1 photo is inspiring and eye-opening for me and made me want to try doing a painting of deep space.

So Happy New Year everyone. We made it!

Comments and critiques are welcome. It's not the best, I know. I'm trying to get better with the Oekaki. It took a lot of experimenting - and a lot of layers to get this how I wanted it. I tried to get the whole 'mote of dust in a sunbeam' feel to it. Oh, and that other little dot in the left corner is suppose to be Voyager 1.

My New Year's Resolution is to finish all the drawings and paintings I've started, so wish me luck with that.

Just in case you want it...

My friend has come over and she drew this! She's not used to the Oekaki and isn't familar with all the drawing tools, so she didn't really do a picture. Please please don't lock this, to her and me it's an awesome drawing, she did all the layers and colour and stuff.

A wolf paw print in the snow. I think I did pretty well on the snowy texture. ^^
