My First Drawing.
by omgx2seconds @ Sun Feb 05, 2012 2:35 pm [Reply]

So this is my first drawing EVER. It's the Northern Lights and a house and mountains and a river. Pretty self-explanatory :D
I'm quite impressed with the mountains on the right.

Vixen_Roe @ Sun Feb 05, 2012 2:40 pm

Godd job hunn :) The house is super cute!! <3

I recently had the opportunity to hear an elderly Jew speak of his experiences during the holocaust. He was only 7 and 1/2 years old when he boarded the MS St. Louis in 1939, leaving Germany. He had been mistreated much of his life, but there was one part of his life story he could not say enough good about. That was the voyage on the MS St. Louis, a ship captained by a man named Gustav Schröder. This captain had commanded his German crew and staff to treat the 937 Jewish refugees like passengers on a cruise ship, which they willingly did. The person who I heard speak said he had never been treated better in his life, and it made a huge impact on his young life.

I know what I made isn't much... just a little scribble, and a sunset over an ocean is hardly a unique oekaki theme. I just wanted to make a little something to honor the captain who made such a profound impact on another's life, and on many more lives as well, no doubt.

You don't need to have a well-known name for you to be a hero. ^^
Drawn with a laptop touchpad.

Monochrome :3
by Odin Arrow @ Sat Feb 04, 2012 4:04 pm [Reply]

A simple stream. With assorted bushes and rocks.

Just some practice for trees and rocks, as well as playing around with lighting.

Done with a mouse.

Timer is correct. Took me forever. XD

Thanks!

SukarettoYanagi @ Sat Feb 04, 2012 4:06 pm

THAT IS REALLY GOOD!!! I can't do that good with a pencile, but then again, water is complicated when done with a pencile...

Odin Arrow @ Sat Feb 04, 2012 4:10 pm

Thanks :D. Lol, I can't draw landscapes with pencil/charcoal. I mostly draw animals.

The Distance... at Rest
by TheScamperPony @ Wed Jan 04, 2012 1:09 pm [Reply]

I dunno why I wanted to draw this... x3. I just did. It's the distant space.... at peace, rest.
I thought about adding more stars, but that sort of takes away the peaceful simplicity of it... I'm not really sure how to explain what it represents... but hold in your mind that it does mean something. x3
It's just a simple, distant, peaceful part of space.
I may add more stars later or nebular dust or something. x3

Mist Over the Water
by Spockylass @ Wed Oct 19, 2011 11:03 am [Reply]

And the moon quivered with fear...

From the Stars commissioned this. Always a pleasure to draw for her. <3 I know it was only supposed to be a sketch but I broke too much new ground to leave it so sketchy. Thought, then, it was finished enough to put in Intermediate.
Tried for a more deer-like shape, hard to accomplish with the angle but I'll make edits if necessary.

Friendly critique welcome.

Blue Moon and Meteor Shower
by LisaMcvisa11 @ Sat Feb 04, 2012 3:31 pm [Reply]

Elisa smiled, running up the hill as fast as her legs would let her. Already she could see the moon, which was full for the second time that month, but she wanted to be at the top before it started. Just as she reached the peak, Elisa saw a light streak in the sky. There was a pause, then more and more streaks shot down from the inky black sky.It was the first blue moon/meteor shower in eight years. Elisa laid down on the grass, putting one hand by her side, and the other streched out slightly to the left. She felt her left hand grow cold, and looked over. Just barely, she could make out the outline of spiky, unkept black hair and smiling gray eyes. Elisa's own royal blue eyes brimmed with tears, "'You would have loved this, Zack." she croaked, trying to get her voice above a whisper. "Happy anniversary."

Day & Night
by Howl For Me @ Sat Feb 04, 2012 11:26 am [Reply]

Fairly sloppy, I know but im just experimenting with this idea and working with the oekaki.
I got the idea for this off of the cartoon version of alice in wonderland. When Tweedle-dee and Tweedle-dum begin to tell the story of the Walrus and The Carpenter there is a part where on side of the beach is night and the other is day. This is supossed to be the same beach but it doesnt quite look it :c Oh well, I plan to work on it (:
Gaw this would be so much eaiser if i had a tablet >:c

f l i g h t. @ Sat Feb 04, 2012 11:29 am

This is really cool! I love it! I could imagine this as a professional painting actually.

I had to say: FLORENCE AND THE MACHINE <3 Howl is my favorite song of theirs, beside Dog Days :D

Howl For Me @ Sat Feb 04, 2012 11:30 am

thank you!
and i love Florence♥ Howl is my faverite song next to Drumming Song and Rabbit Heart and Kiss With A Fist xD

I realized it's been a while since I've made my own drawing on the Oekaki, so I decided to give it another go when I started listening to Waiting on the world to change by John Mayer. The song obviously influenced the drawing, and I had fun doing it. The timer is accurate, despite the times the pug jumped onto my lap, and when I was just staring at the pug as he practically sat on my foot while chewing on a dog bone. I say 'the pug' because [Yes he is a Pug] he's not our dog. We found him on the golf course yesterday, and have been taking care of him since. I love him! ...But we already have four dogs so we can't keep him, unless my aunt will take him. We nicknamed him Scruffy. But my sister keeps calling him pug, as does my grandfather.

Back to the topic of the drawing: The clouds were a challenge at first because I had no idea how I'd do them, until I figured out a cool trick to making them. My... second or third free-hand Oekaki. I'd love some constructive criticism, and would be glad to know how I could do better.

Oh yes, MODS PLEASE MOVE TO BEGINNER'S. I started in Sketches, then it became better than I thought it would have turned out to be.

Thanks!
Kula

Ps. I use a mouse as always, though I am kind of wanting a tablet.

Nature
by jasmine; @ Thu Feb 02, 2012 5:49 pm [Reply]

_______

A relaxing, natural oekaki~

This picture takes place in a day in the forest, protected with walls of soft grass, trees, and bushes from being destroyed. Some animals can manage to slip into this scene, whilst others have their other homes as in caves and such.
