I actually wasn't going to post again for a few days bc I feel like I've been spamming a little haha xD buuuut I realized I'd really like to squeeze a leap yeap drawing in before CS rollover tonight sooo hiii I hope I haven't started annoying you yet LOL

I got inspired to draw a cyberpunk-type city after watching Bdubs' latest Hermitcraft episode. I went a bit wild with the colors, but I think it works.

anyways uh this is me fooling around with layer effects in chickenpaint bc I want to try to understand a little better how they work. in my experience the overlay, add, and dodge/burn are all very similar to what i'm used to in other programs and multiply isn't thaaat different but several of the others are,, enigmas to me. they either don't have quite the oomf I'm usually looking for (meaning I have to combine effects to get what I'm after) orrr they affect the vibrance qualities more than I'd like

this drawing happens to be good for fooling w/ this because the og is right on the edge of grayscale but has just enough color to be altered by layer effects & it gives me a lot of info from changing settings and stuff. so you might see these colors flip around from time to time as I go back in the file to poke around more

I thought it might be fun to attempt to follow a bob ross tutorial on Oekaki. I think it turned out somewhat alright. This was Mountain at Sunset from season 12 episode 10 of the joy of painting.

wanted to study and practice some snow before doing a larger snowy piece. top right is a super experimental thing where I was wondering if I could add a bunch of colors to the snow while having it still mostly read as snow. idk how I feel about it lol

it can be intimidating/overwhelming trying to paint a full scene, especially when it's an environment you're not too familiar with, so practicing the individual elements of it first (in this case, snowy rocks and foliage) on a smaller scale can help a lot and give you more confidence in tackling larger backgrounds
