the last beacon
couldn't get to school today because there's too much snow and the busses are not running between cities so I decided to draw "the last beacon", the last big source of light that I can see before the long darkness on my way to school, after this it's just the light of passing cars and the occational light of a building in the distance for about 25 minutes. People on the bus must think Im pretty weird for staring out the window the whole way when nothing is visible but it's because I get some serious motion sickness if I can't see that we're moving, Im looking at the side of the road lit up by passing cars, and the distant lights of buildings, and if I'm lucky I can see the outline of trees. I can't read or look at my phone on the bus because if we're moving and my brain doesn't get a visual confirmation that we're moving I get a pounding headache followed by the sweats and,, yeah,,, motion sickness. so I really like this building. |
LittleMaple @ Tue Jan 16, 2024 5:02 am This is so cool and terrifying WHAT |
That's Offensive @ Tue Jan 16, 2024 5:56 am
I guess the building can look a bit scary when you don't know what it's for, they recycle and make energy out of garbage, the tall red lights are giant chimneys and the large cubic building consists of like 4 or 5 floors I think. it's pretty cool as it is but I mostly like it because of the light (: |

I'm out of school for the day too! Darn snow :l |
gardog's Q + A
I went to the doctor's yesterday and I am now on new meds.
I am tired, weak, nauseous, and anxious... let's do a Q + A !! :D (Don't worry, I'll be fine, lol) Why did I draw this scene for this? I don't know; it's what I felt like drawing at the moment So, ask me stuff! I shall answer in the comments, unless it's like a tutorial or something Disclaimer: I am not good at answering questions and I am a self-taught artist, so any art-related questions may not be "correct", so to speak. I'll try my best! Ask whatever you would like (as long as it's CS-appropriate) ^^ |
BlueEyedKite @ Thu Jan 11, 2024 11:19 am What would be your tip if someone wants to give their art a little extra touch? What thing do you do that you may not do for all your art pieces. Something that says to you, you went the extra mile on that piece ._. |
gardog @ Thu Jan 11, 2024 11:40 am
Well, let's take my follower check artwork for example ^^ There's a reason why it took 6+ hours (the timer is accurate, by the way). There's a sketch layer, a lining layer, a couple of different color layers, and a lot of shading and lighting layers. Any piece where I give myself a light source that I then follow through with in the piece's entirety, especially when adding extra shading to the fur that gives it shape, automatically brings the piece to a whole new level for me. Then, of course, there's the thing where I don't have pen sensitivity in Oekaki. All of those lines that come to a point? I have to go through and make those myself with the eraser tool. Just little things like that can really boost the quality of an artwork. Finally, I will add plenty of color overlays and light additions on top of everything so that the subject doesn't just look like it's against a background. Adding green and orange and white can really make your (or mine, in this case) subject feel like it's not just standing in front of a backdrop; it is actually there in the setting of your background. You can do this whether the subject is shaded or not, just pop an overlay of the most used color on top and adjust the opacity until it doesn't like saturated, just improved. Hope this helps ^^ |

Colorado Rocky Mountain High
Drawing with a mouse is hard... this is still a wip. c: Thank you so much for all of the likes. It really does mean a lot. Edit; A feature! <3 How cool is that? Thank you so much! I can't believe I actually have to say it, but to refrain some really bold people from hurting my feelings, keep the hate comments to yourselves. If you don't like it, or don't think it deserves a feature, that is your opinion. Don't post or PM anything hateful. Thank you. |
