Eru used to be a human named Erestos
He worked on an Athenian naval ship as a rower. One day the ship was usurped by pirates. Erestos was stupidly brave and tried to kill the attacking pirate captain. He knocked the captain into the ocean but sustained fatal wounds and was buried at sea. Soon after, an esk/two esk? transform them both into esk. He doesn't remember much of his past life and calls himself Eru, a fragmented piece of his name and one of the few things he remembers about himself.
