    Notice the 'active' rule in your typical virtual adoption center.

    Granted, owners who publicly 'use' their character express a certain appreciation to managers/artists responsible and a genuine liking to their new character. In addition, this user has supported the adoption center by free advertising via art, public discussion of that character, role playing, etc. It's a win-win situation.

    So activeness in itself, is not a bad thing.

    But the definition of active nowadays, it what's so messed up.

    You shouldn't be expected to 'adore' your fictional character with art, roleplaying, discussion, etc. out of the sole purpose of proving your ownership to the mangers and community of said virtual pet adoption center.

    You make characters for your enjoyment and or the enjoyment of others. Period.

    Disclaimer: This isn't directed at any specific adoption agency.

I agree.
Most of the time I don't use my characters on a daily basis but that doesn't mean that I don't 'adore' them as you said. In fact, I rarely get art of my characters just because it costs so much now-adays and it's hard to get a good art piece. I'll sometimes write about them, but rarely since I have a job writing other stuff and whatnot.
I enjoy my characters as much as anyone. Just because I don't shower them with art and stuff doesn't mean that I don't love them. It doesn't mean that I abuse them. It means that I have a different definition of 'love and adoration'.

    No one has the right to declare whether or not you are 'active' with your character. You could so much as not even mention it on CS and still have a perfectly healthy relationship with it outside of the internet.

    As an example, I think of my characters a majority of the time. Placing them in scenarios, coming up with dialogue, y'know day dreaming. x'D <3

EXACTLY. It bothers me so much how it seems like you need to roleplay or be publicly active to love your characters.

I personally am not very active with my characters on CS, but it's unfair to assume that that means I don't care about them. People need to understand that some of us don't use characters in the same way that lots of people do.

So i'm about a foot shorter than all of my friends 6-10 inches compared to them all and they make fun of me because I'm short if I ask them to get something for me or I can't reach something they say "short people problems"

Any fellow Ergo Proxy fans out there? Yes? No? Maybe?
If you haven't seen Ergo Proxy, go to Hulu and look it up. It's a great anime with fab art, good animation, awesome characters, a unique storyline, and plenty of intrigue. Trust me when I say you will not be disappointed.
(*Ahem* The reason I say to look on Hulu, is because youtube only has up to episode five dubbed. Hulu has all twenty three.)

Yeahh, my daily life runs on three-four hous of sleep llD
used to be two, but I've gotten better bout it recently, haha
on occasion, I pull the all-nighter though ;3
and by on occasion, I mean at least once a week
