Just some basic lightning/shading practice, and also some practice on the figure of the human hand. I don't really like how awkward the lighting on the hand looks, so I'm probably going to go back in and fix that later on, when I have the time, and I'll probably do some simple touch-ups, too.
This was originally going to be a rant, but I'm horrible at ranting about anything, even in real life, so I'll just suck it up ^_^
Used my own hand as a reference, and the background came from my own mind. *Is never doing hands again* *Hates hands*

Some of my friends started getting into Pokemon again.
I have a bunch of cards and now I started watching Indigo League on Netflix. Can you believe they started putting different Pokemon stuff on Netflix? They don't have it all, but they have Indigo League and Black and White.

Anyways....
Charmander is my favorite Pokemon ever. That will probably never change. I drew a trainer for him so he wouldn't be lonely. xP
Possibly a Poke-sona? Is that a term? If it's not it should be.

SHADINGGGGG

Yes, the person in the picture is based off of one of my characters. But mostly because I was reminded of him while I thought this over, and I very well couldn't draw the person that this centers around.

You aren't an idiot, I realized.
You play one.
But as I heard the words coming out of your mouth rather than the voice speaking them, and the face speaking them, I realized that they weren't stupid.
I've seen you doing things illegal on so many occasions that it doesn't even register. I've seen you smile and swagger out the door as your name is blared over the intercom.
I've sneered as you shrug and say 'I don't know.' feet kicked on the desk and hands hanging limp.
You say 'I'm dumb' all the time.
Other people laugh that you're dumb too.
But I realized that you really aren't.
I don't know what got us talking.
But for whatever reason we were.
You laughed as you told stories about a life that would make most people's jaws drop. You laughed as you told me stories about things that got you arrested or times that horrible things had happened.
But you also talked about books that most people had never read, and asked questions about psychology and math and science that I was always reading about and even made a joke about Schrodinger.
But even though I can see all of that, you downplay it.
And you laugh along to all the jokes that people make saying 'Where'd you get that? Steal it?'
You tell people you're talking about science with me and they laugh as though you're making it up and say 'Seriously dude get over here.'
You pull out your phone to download a free book and tell someone you're reading Sherlock Holmes to hear that laugh as though you made some sarcastic joke.
You really were reading it though.
But you laugh right back.
You always laugh right back and probably even believe all the 'You're dumb dude's and the 'Pfft I don't know this stuff I'm dumb' you always say.
Who ever told you that in the first place?
What happened to you in all those years of trouble and law breaking and putting such horrible things and thoughts into your head and living in this disgusting underside of the world?
We weren't so different as kids I realize.
I sometimes can't understand how kids that are so similar end up so differently.
All these people sitting in the back of the room scowling or smirking or sleeping as the world drones on.
All these people you overlook or just write off.
All these people you catch a look at and think 'They're trouble' or they're mean, or lazy, or boring.
I'm guilty of judgment as much as the next person, I realize.
I sometimes look and wish that people wouldn't be so quick to judge me.
But I do the exact same thing.
I may not want to hang out with this kid after school, or even do more than our occasional intellectual conversations, but I have to give credit where its due.
So long as I feel the world glares at me, I'll struggle to smile and hold out a hand rather than reflecting the hatred back.
We're all intellectuals, rebels, lazies, brats, perfects, thugs, and recluses somewhere.

It's ironic how this song is named Out Through the Curtain and it fits with my story, Out Through The Curtain. I just couldn't get the name of the song out of my head when I made it, and I listened to it more, and it strangely fitted. Soo...
