As some of you know I absolutely love fish and keep them
Well I finally got one of my bucketlist fish, koi Angelfish! I was a little concerned at first because I bout only two and put them in a 40 gallon. They've done amazing and have even started to recognize me and swimming towards me.
Im pretty sure one is male (left in the sketch) and the other im not sure yet. Its smaller and doesn't seem to have a lot of male features, but im not sure. They get along great and ive never once seen any aggressive behavior

The larger one I call Chavilier de Loraine (from Versialles) and the small one is Alivar, a play on "Alvar" meaning elf; army

This was a sketch break from reality. Ive been very stressed recently, buying a house and have a wedding and doctors appointments too. This was a great way to just relax and share a bit more with everyone here
I plan to finish this and ill probably make it an editable [:

Anyways I'm going to talk a bit of my interest in WWI below so if you are not interested in reading about war stuff please scroll along!

I had the privilege to take a historic-themed road trip through northern France last year with my brother, who lives and breathes history and just graduated with a history major and is off to get his masters next fall. While memorable and fascinating, it was also an incredibly somber experience. Reading about The Great War in books and watching movies is one thing but going to the forest of Verdun and seeing hundreds of craters still visible under the plant growth, to be driving through the quiet French countryside and occasionally coming across a town sign with the name crossed out and "Village Detruit" - village destroyed - marked below, was an experience that will stick with me forever. We went to the Douaumont Ossuary where the graves of hundreds of soldiers lie, and the unidentified bones of thousands upon thousands more. The surrounding forests are often marked as not to be entered because there could still be landmines there. WWI was, in every sense of the word, horrific. Something I often think about is the hundreds of thousands of horses, mules, and donkeys that were brought into it and never came out of it.

I'm not really sure where I'm going with all this, but 1917 was good and I just wanted to get this out of my system.

This is just a quick drawing of a species I've been working on for a year or so. They have a ton of info behind them, from naming, communication, and down to familial relations. I might post more about them on here, but this was my first non-traditional drawing of one of them. They're kind of like huge birds with oval heads and horns, to put their looks simply (5ft-6ft tall).
