As for flipping the canvas, when I have to check my drawing real quick, I go to Layers > Merge all layers then flip it, then undo that (quickly lol).

If you actually just want it flipped before you post it, but don't want your layers destroyed just in case, put all your layers + groups into 1 group, duplicate the group, merge the duplicate group, & then flip it. :P

nono I know that but, you know how you can flip your canvas in other programs mid work as you draw whenever you need, so the entire canvas just flips with all the layers too?

That's what I'm meant, having to group and merge all your mid work layers will kind of lengthen the process and I might end up loosing interest quickly. But of course I'm sharing form my experience right now - this method is best for like.. more detailed or heavier pieces? y'know like all the lining, prepping a base, for the bg and so on. But simple doodles for me require different attention to detail sometimes, because with them being doodle and sketches so you can just make 'em quickly and go form there^^
I try not to abuse the undo button unless I need it because it having only limited undo's before it decides "nnnope! nope, this is as far as you'll go, try me >:c" so if I was to mess up pretty badly, I'll get the anxiety of "oh-no. o_o"
Now... I'm right handed idk if I mentioned it in our pms lol
But I kind of struggle having to draw one way when I wanna go into detailed stroke (example hair was sketched by flipping what ever I had at the time so it wasn't a big deal) and it might be because I haven't drawn with my tablet for almost a year so I haven't entirely worked my hand into it where it could be easier for me
(Also idk if you noticed, but this one is definitely one of my better piece I've done on my tablet, because I'm finally able to put it on my table like it's supposed to be instead of my lap haha)

of course this is just how it would work for me, so this tip could def work for a lot of others, and I did use it when I had only a few layers a the start. BTOOM LINE BEING - When I'm drawing at any other point I'm chill with having as many layers as possible before my laptop crashes, when I doodle I kind of like to keep things simple XD

I did reach out to a mod sometime ago probably a long time ago about some help with making sure oekaki and my huion work as one, and they did help, but even with the ungraded driver it's really no different from what it was before XD
still can't scroll using my pen, still not sure what settings to set for my tablet to make it seem or flow nicer in the oekaki, buuuut I could learn to live with that

I'd be up for that! Whenever you'd like, we could do a collab on Oekaki or on Magma/Aggie (If our time zones allow it for the last two lol).

Ahhh I get it now. Usually hitting "merge all layers" and flipping is good enough for me to check since it's only 2 undos. I did a little experiment, and it seems we can do 30 undos in a row. Not that I would be interested in counting while drawing simply to note the 30+ mistakes I just made lol.


But I can understand when you flip bc of an awkwardly angled line that is hard to draw. Maybe rotating the canvas and drawing that way could help, but I hate doing that tbh, since everything looks weird whilst rotated. As for the undo button, it's made to be abused lol. When I'm really concerned about putting a difficult line down, I'll usually just put it on a layer above, never be afraid to undo immediately if I'm not 100% sure I like this line, and merge when I'm happy with it.


They say confident lines are the best lines,,, and retrying so many times helps me feign that confidence. :'D Undoing repeatedly actually helps though, as I noticed I don't have to undo as much as I did when I started trying this. Definitely helps passively train pen-hand-eye coordination. I'm right-handed too, and am guilty of also having to draw with my tablet on my lap before. (got it on a trusty, flip-to-close table now LOL) Once you get fully used to using the tablet on a reasonable surface again, you'll just keep getting better! ^^


Yeah, with the current chicken paint, that's probably unfixable. My old tablet is an XP-pen, & it has all these shortcuts on the side and a zoom dial. But, of course, the zoom dial doesn't work on Oekaki. So yeah, that's all Oekaki, not your Huion. There's a lot of tablet features that are just not supported, unfortunately. ^^'' (I'd love to use different brushes... or at least have some presets for custom pen settings)
