Juno glared down at their next target. He was a slightly handsome young lion with a face full of worry. And for a good reason, Juno thought maliciously. They wondered briefly what their life would be like if they weren't a vicious assassin. They pushed the thought from their head and focused on their target. He was in a deep and intense conversation/argument with another lion who looked very angry. Juno adjusted the knifes that had been hand crafted to fit on top of their claws. Their target gave the lion he was talking to one last glare and stomped away. Juno jumped down from their perch and landed beside the lion, one of their claws positioned at his throat. "Ah," he said in a resigned sort of way. "Queen Zena finally found me." "No," Juno whispered. "I did." And just as they started to pull back their knife the lion muttered a word. Clandestine. Juno stopped, "What did you say?" "She's doing this for a reason she's keeping a secret from you. Isn't she?" Juno shivered. Not much disturbed them. "The queen doesn't want you to know why i'm really dying. She's told you a lie about it, hasn't she?" He said his questions like they were statements. He knew. Why were they killing them? Hadn't they always thought that killing was good if it had good reasons? "You know. You know why she sent me here," Juno said, struggling to maintain a threatening voice. "Yes. What if I told you..." he paused as if rethinking his words then seemingly decided he might die if he didn't. "What if I told you I were her son?" Juno stumbled, though they were standing still, and accidentally nicked the lions hide, drawing a drop of blood. Juno spun him to face them and said, "Explain." The lion looked them over and said, "Your handsome." "And you're on death's door. Explain," they said, more force pushing into their words. "I was the prince, I did something treacherous. What more is there to say?" He thought again before saying, "Wait, actually, there is more. I know you. And you need to help me. My cause, the reason I'm standing here with your knives pointing at me. The queen wants to kill every hyena and those who support them. If you help me, I'll help you." Juno thought for a long moment and then shoved the lion into a large bush, the queens guards were coming, their uncareful paws smacking noisily against the forest floor. Death only came with good reason. And the queen's was next.
