Leaving is the hardest thing to do when you don't want to go. To remove yourself from a place that you called home for all your life is tough. Painful. Scary. But when no one wants you, the choice is not given. When you're shunned and despised, then the decision is made for you.

Head hung low, they watched as the gavel was slammed and they were punished with exile. No one defended them, no one cared. Everyone turned to their neighbors and spoke amongst one another. Disapproval, lack of surprise, disdain. All eyes bore into the young Storkatten as they failed to form words. The whispers rose into a drowning wave, crash into them with all their scorn. They couldn't breathe. They couldn't think. Why was this happening? Why were they so hated?

"No- please- I w-won't do it again!"

"The call has been made. Your sentence has been received by those Higher. You are to leave immediately and never return!" Cried the judge, his words spiteful and without any show of professionalism. It was clear to all that he cared not about the fairness of this all. The only restraint and mercy that was being shown was due to the young age of their defendant. The Storkie was lucky to have gotten a simply exile, they could see now.

They parted there lips to plead and beg, but the crowd had lost their patience. Their 'whispers' were no longer directed to one another, but instead, sharp eyes pierced their small form as they all shouted.

Shaking and afraid, the mass of cats standing before them grew closer, hissing and spitting as they tried to drive them out faster. The young Storkie looked around frantically. Where- Where was he? Ah! Fearful eyes locked onto the dull gaze of another cat, standing at the back of the mob. "Dad- P-Please!" But there was no response. Perhaps he did not hear over the crowd of hatred- maybe they just needed to try again. But just as they tried to speak again, the dull gaze of their father turned to disgust as he rose to his paws and turned away, ushering the other kittens who sat at his paws to follow. Their family.. The only ones by their side all this time- they turned away without care. They felt the tears well up right as a claw came dangerously close. A fearful squeak and a choked sob was the last that was heard before the young Storkatten turned and ran.

To where they ran, that's unknown. It's not like they could tell, eyes blurred from tears rendered sight useless. But they ran as fast as their legs could take them. They kept running because something told them that the pounding sound filling their ears would catch them. They kept running until they couldn't breathe- until they tripped over an exposed branch and tumbled down the large hill their home dwelled. There at the bottom they lay, sobbing as the pounding became an echo, then began to fade. Their vision darkened as the world spun too fast to keep up.

Leaving is the hardest thing to do when you don't want to. Leaving behind family you cherished and love is possibly harder. But nothing is worse than the image of pure hatred directed to you from that very family.

"Hey- Are you ok?"

The young Storkie attempted to look up but they saw nothing but the faded form of someone. Perhaps the Highers have finally come to place their divine judgement. Unfortunate. "I'm- sorry..." The young Storkie breathed before they fell unconscious.

“Fiona!” That was all the warning she got before she was knocked over and pinned by another kitty. “Honey,” She grunted.
Honey laughed. “Do wanna go out and play?”
“No, I’m busy. Get off, silly,” Fiona meowed. When Honey moved, Fiona stood up again and shook herself off. Despite Honey’s roughhousing, the flower she had been trying to grow was unscathed. “Check this out.”
“Good job! Now cmon, you can take a break! Let’s play hide and seek. Tundra, Brassia and Fable are coming.”
Fiona eyed her flower again, then looked over at their little group waiting by the exit to camp. “Alright,” She meowed. They all chatted and joked while they walked, deciding that Honey was going to be the seeker first.
Fiona looked around for a good place to conceal her, especially since her pelt was so light. She heard Honey start counting.
“Six… Five… Four…”
Wait, that wasn’t fair! She was supposed to start at 20 at the least!
She heard Tundra hiss in complaint. Fable darted past her.
“Threetwoone!”
That wasn’t long enough!!
Fiona leaped into the bushes. What a terrible spot! The bushes weren’t full enough yet to not see her though them. It was just barley spring, after all. Good thing she had been practicing her magic! Fiona made the leaves grow thicker, until she herself could just barley see through them. Now they matched her eyes, so Honey surely wouldn’t be able to find her!
“Tundra, I see your tail!” She heard Honey meow. Tundra huffed. “Maybe if you had given us more time!” She griped. They spent a little longer looking for her and Brassia. Brassia was good at being quiet, but they found her not too long after. “Fiona, where are you~?” Homey called.
Fiona was silent.
They looked around for what felt like a really long time. She heard their paw steps go farther away and then approach again.
“She went back to camp instead of hiding?” Brassia suggested at some point.
“Maybe.” Homey shrugged. “This is boringgggg. Bye, Fiona!”
Fiona got onto a crouch, haunches wiggling, and tackled Honey. “Ha, I win!”

prompt: Cecil gave a soft smile, as he looked over the small crowd gathered. "While it is true that poison is not one of the FLASHIER elements, let me show you one of my favorite tricks of all." He gestured them towards a rather large body of water, a lake as it would seem. The lake however was very dirty, contaminated with oil, waste, and grime. Closing their eyes, they began to channel their magic and walked out in the middle of it. Before their eyes, the lake began to sort itself out!

The contaminants, the poisons in the like started to stream in different directions, pool into glistening almost flower-like patterns separated form the rest. Held in place with an almost swirling like motion. With a sweep of his paws, Cecil directed the waste, grime, and filth into various holding bins, making it look like they were fountains as he did so. "I do love showing off. Stick around I'll show ya my bubbling brew trick next!"

The sun rose in the forest, sleepy birds fluttering their wings and getting ready to sing to the new day. It was peaceful and the air was crisp and fresh.

Peaceful other than the ragtag bunch of storkatten that ran around like mad creatures down below the crisscrossed branches and thick vines. They were hurrying to and fro but with the sort of maniacal energy that comes when everyone knows they are supposed to be doing something because everyonce else is doing something but they arent really sure where to start.

“We must get ready for our guest.” Leo stressed, the unofficial leader of the group. He was manipulating vines and using his plant magic either badly, or just doing something that the others couldnt quite understand. He thought he was making a new bedding, or a house, or decoration. Alright he wasnt really quite sure what he was doing either, and it wasnt exactly helping the plants understand either.

Cynder was doing a little better. She had tidied some of their food into neater piles, and was coaching some of the kittens on how to act. Mostly just not trying to climb on the newcomer immediately. Nor sing them greetings, nor light anything on fire, nor flood it and- no magic please of destructive means. The kittens were a bit dubious, and so it was taking quite a bit of negotiation.

Allowing for one of the kittens to sli under the radar.

Perpia. She was filled with energy, running between different strokes attempting to help but making a bit of a mess. She knocked over piles and got under feet. It was only as her father caught up that she settled. But then the tables turned and it was time for him to be coached instead on how to act.

“Abnus, please remember to not threaten the newcomer.”

“Are they a threat? Why would you presume that I would do so.” The Purple storkie asked. His multiple eyes blinking at the smaller storkie that was trying to tell him what to do. They shrunk a little under the pressure, until Leo stepped in with a smile.

“Maybe because you, well you scared off two strokes that asked for a star reading, threatened to throw a kitten-” He glanced at Perpia meaningfully. “ Into the river, and you managed to fight off a giant snake-lion by yourself the other day.”

“An Asmo, thats what the ‘snake lion’ is called.”

“Thats what you took from that?”

“Come on Leo, he’ll be good. Ill keep an eye on him.” Amola said, walking over to the two and sending Leo a wink. Abnus frowned a little.

“I will?”

“Yes, you will.” Amola said in a singsong voice. “Unless you want me to tell Arifa you are scaring people.”

Abnus looked a little panicked, staring across the clearing at a light pelted arcane storkie. His girlfriend and the colonies main knowledge keeper. She turned to look back at him, tilting her head quizically before looking back to the storkie she had been talking to.

“I’ll be good.” He admitted. “I shall even try to keep my other eyes closed, this time.”

“Thanks man.” Amola said, grinning. “Now, lets go see if we can sneak a peek at the newcomer before they get here.”

"ANOTHER storkatten?" Sebastian hissed as he started to pace back and forth. "This colony is getting too big! I swear by the Paragons every single day it gets bigger! How am I going to keep track of them all? WHy do they keep coming to us? What do we have that others do not?" His fur was on end as he spoke, uncertainty and fear in his voice.

"We have acceptance," Felix replied, her tone gentle and soft. "And that is such a very rare and special thing. You accept what so many other colonies reject. You have helped give them a home! Made them feel welcome! Helped them find their purpose! Is it no small wonder that one more wishes to join our ranks?" Sebastian eyed her a moment, bright orange eyes meeting her purple ones.

"...I remember being rejected for so long. Alright, let us get everything ready then. Let us call a meeting. You know how I do like to ensure that they know this is no trick." Felix laughed at this.

"I know, I know. I will go gather the rest of the colony. Let us all get to work and ensure this is a welcome party that none of us soon forget! A celebration worthy of the Paragons themselves! Onwards!"

And it really was a group effort to ensure everything was done in time for the newcomer! Haela used her wings to fly, setting streamers on high places and making sure they dangled down in only the most fancy ways! Anything high up? She was on it! And for a touch here or there she would place one of her own special runes, which provided a soft blue glow and gave a bit of extra sparkle. The small air storkatten Chessy helped as much as she could with this task as well, using little poofs of air to help guide things up towards Haela to place. Haela was sure to comment on how strong and clever Chessy was, drawing tiny blushes and embarrassed laughing from the younger one. It was clear though the pair was having a lot of fun, which was another reason Sebastian always had the whole colony help with preparing these things.

Meanwhile Ivy led her plant magic friends in starting to grow gorgeous and strange flowers, some of which were not native to the area but added for a bit of extra flare. Lilies, vines, sunflowers, the assortment was wide and various but somehow all seemed to come together in harmony. Gabriel and Ashfern were doing the hard work, as Ivy placed the pair would begin to grow. Ivy, they all knew, would take the credit later of course. But, the others at least got practice for their magic out of it so nobody really lost.

Shaniah meanwhile made giant ice sculptures, capturing history and mythical storkies in their prime. Of course she made extra ice just for drinks and keeping cool, but it helped bring everything together. Finally, after what seemed ages... they were all ready to greet their latest colony member.
