As an orphaned kit, she has always presented herself as more put together than she actually is. Found alone by Scrunch during a patrol, she was raised communially in Rosemary Meadows. She was the first kit they ever found on a patrol and as such was treated with such tenderness and care that even her own parents could not have rivaled. However, she never forgot the pitiful looks she was given when she first arrived, which solidified her belief that she needed to put up a facade. As her adolescence approached, she became sharp-tongued and quick-witted, often making sarcastic quips about her fellow clanmates. The way cats saw her gradually changed from the frightened orphan kit to a confident carefree cat.

As patrols gradually found more kits and kits were born into the clan, they began to look up to Oriolesong. She's now hailed as the cool big sister of the clan, the kits constantly following her and hanging onto her every word. Of course she's really just pretending to be tough and cool and like she doesn't care about anything, but they don't need to know that just yet. When they're older, maybe she'll let them in on her little secret. For now, it's best to just let them idolize her.

As a lord of the Saguaro Syndicate, Sausalito has to uphold a certain pedigree.

The tom is very kind and friendly, overall described as good-natured. Sausalito is a loyal member, and he's protective over the hunters he watches over, more so than the other clan members. He's even kind towards outsiders, although sometimes this can get him into trouble if he speaks to the wrong cat. However, he can be considered flirty and a bit of a romantic (not that many cats have fallen for his apparent charms).

On the other hand, he can be a troublemaker. Although he's a lord, Sausalito still gets into sticky situations by being reckless and thoughtless, which is really not a good role model for the young ones. But really, he's still an ortus (a kit) at heart.

Limestone rainforests and its surrounding mountains are a perfect place for someone like him, the thick rainforest below him providing him cover if need be and the peaks proving a very difficult climb if anyone where to attempt to catch him there. To Richter, these mountains are where he calls home, breathtaking but dangerous if traversing without experience. With many large, hidden lakes around for a quiet retreat if one were willing to make the journey.

Richter lives in these forests as a refuge from the harsh desert wastelands, formerly an outlaw who gave up that way of life to live off the land itself, or provide shelter for the rare other Kalon he encounters in the wild. While lonely, it’s the best for Richter in this world; a crowded area is always bound for conflict and strife and the larger the population, the higher the dangers that others pose to the area. Richter knows the area from the back of his hand, yet knows when to take caution as there are caves that even he wouldn’t dare step in.

All around, Richter has a deep respect for the biome around him. He is well aware that the treacherous terrain would not suit those who are reckless, and experienced travelers make sure to tread carefully around the forests and peaks. Some say he is a saving grace to any stranded within, but one must always be cautious if he is provoked within the area… (244)
