Featherkit always went to the clearing around this time of day. The sun was at its peak and it was right after their midday hunt-- so the apprentices were just returning. As Featherkit returned to camp, she'd make a slight detour-- where most kits would go left, back to their mentor for more training-- Feather would go right-- to this clearing, and to her unexpected and secret friend. This animal, she felt, was a mentor all in their own right-- for they taught her too, just in ways other cats didn't understand. She wouldn't know why only some cats easily understood the wisdom of her mentor until much later in life, but it just made sense to her. The elegant movements they made, the subtle tells of their behavior, and their subtle sounds were enough to communicate volumes to the young kit.

The mentor she visited there was a massive stag with a blue bird's feather tucked behind his ear. The deer showed her how to do many things-- how to skip across stones to traverse a babbling stream, how to step quietly to avoid detection by those from whom you wish to hide, how to observe humans and other life with quiet and unobtrusive respect-- he also taught her where to look for berries and herbs, where to hide when a storm was coming, and which trees one could hide in when trouble was near. But beyond these survival skills, the stag taught her much about gratitude and mindfulness. The stag was respectful of everything in nature, never taking more than he gave and always finding opportunities to help his fellow creature. He took her along for these escapades as he helped animals in their daily lives-- no matter where they were on the natural hierarchy. Be they meat eaters or plant eaters, the deer believed strongly that all animals served an important role in the natural ecosystem, and so all of them were worthy of support, compassion, and kindness.

So they would help animals across the forest in these passing hours between Featherkit's midday patrol and her later one. Sometimes their time together was active-- moving through the woods with elegance and speed to help the animals around their territory-- and sometimes they had very little to do to help, and so they spent their time strolling the woods and learning how to support it, reap its rewards, and how to give to compensate for what was taken. They sometimes rested on the hill of the clearing to watch the clouds and to reflect. The deer taught her how to approach situations with gentleness, open-mindedness, and care-- for she saw him model this behavior when he met with each and every woodland creature.

She matured and so did he. She found later that only those faunal magic storkies and those rare exceptions from other castes really cared to observe animals closely and open themselves up to learning from their natural kindred, which Feather finds exceptionally sad considering how much she learned (and continues to learn) from the natural wildlife around her! To this day she still sees her mentor stag in the woods, and they chat from time to time. He's still very important to her, and other cats in the clan think of him as her guardian spirit.

Religion

The Storkies of Axolotl's Dreams worship a sheep. It is a totally normal Sheep but for the fact it's unusually calm. Members of the Colony use their magic to help ensure the Sheep has everything they could ever want, Plant Storkies grow the finest plants for the sheep to eat. Water Storkies ensure they have the purest water. The Sheep has a few little pastures that are cultivated by the Storkies and their giant friend that carries them around sometimes. Even without their Giant Friend's help they are adapt at climbing up all the giant furniture to provide for their Sheepy God.

Activities

The Storkies of Axolotl's Dreams favorite activity when they aren't caring for The Sheep is to climb and cuddle their Giant Friend, they all pile on them at the end of the day to sleep. They sometimes climb the Gianter Friend that also lives in the oversized apartment. This is most often because he is Taller and therefore a great look out spot. Sometimes climbing the Gianter Friend is more of a game than needing to look around, whoever can get to the top of his head the fastest is the winner.

Social Aspects

The Colony has a small group of the most knowledgeable Storkies that make decisions for the Colony as a whole to ensure it functions properly. These Storkies are determined by various books verses 'streets' smarts tests, that are regularly reperformed when there's enough new Storkies interested in helping to warrant preforming the tests again. They hold authority but are not considered better than anyone else because they have knowledge that others don't yet. The Giant Friend also has a large amount of say in what the Colony does or doesn't do, if something proposed would conflict with them in a detrimental way. They consider their Giant Friend to be part of the colony, they may not have magic in the sense the Storkies are familiar with but their friend is very talented in something very much like magic. The Gianter Friend is also a part of the clan, and has much more refined skills in the same not quite magic. The colony makes sure to include their friends in all Colony activities and socialize with them as much as possible with a language barrier.

Loreception

The Colony knows a few things about their Giant Friend and Gianter Friend. First and foremost whatever species they are all of them are gifted with a form change. What that other form is seems to vary though much like the Storkies' magic it falls into various categories. Their Giant Friend can form change into an oversized Axolotl, their Gianter Friend becomes some sort of wheeled cart that goes very fast. There are some other Giants that come around frequently but the Colony has only ever seen a few of them use their form change so they can only guess what sorts of forms the rest have. More unique to their friends are the "magic" they possess. This magic is not standard to their species as far as the Storkies can tell, there's only 2 other giants on base that can preform similar feats. Their Giant Friend can form protective but mostly transparent sheilds around those they want to protect, as well as teleport small distances. The Gianter Friend can do the same but on a much larger scale, the colony has each experienced a moment when their Gianter Friend teleported them all clear across the territory. The Gianter Friend seems to use their powers only when they feel a need to protect those around them, while the Giant Friend frequently uses theirs in small amounts daily. It seems almost like training of some kind?

To be fair, the entire clan is hectic. Tuxxie's clan is a ragtag band of unlikely adventuring cats who, for some reason or another, lost their clans if ever they had one. Every cat, by that same shared oddity, has further oddities about them-- so it's fair to say that most clan traditions are weird, if anything simply by virtue of the weird cats who participate in them. To top it off, each cat came from a different background-- some from clans farther away, some as ex kittypets, and others never having a clan to begin with and living in small groups or independently in the wilds... so when each cat joined the clan they brought different traditions, stories, and mythos with them. This resulted in the cultural climate of Tuxxie's clan being eclectic and almost a bit surreal with just how much of a mixing pot it is. All that is simply to say, every clan tradition this odd clan has is, honestly, a weird one.

The most prevalent though, perhaps, is the sun greeting ceremony. It's not inherently religious, though it has religious roots in other clans whose origin it owes itself to. Every cat in the clan gathers at sunrise each day to welcome the sun. They sit in the center of the clan's territory, around its central rock. This rock is the very same from which Tuxxie gives announcements and talks as the clan's leader, and it serves as the central hub of the clan. Tuxxie sits atop his presentation rock and the other clan members also gather around as the sun rises over the horizon. When the sun rises up above the horizon line, the cats bow their heads-- first beginning with their leader, then mirrored by everyone else-- to welcome the sun and express gratitude for the day. This serves as a moment of meditation and reflection for the cats of Tuxxie's clan and invites them to practice both mindfulness and thankfulness! Each storkie is invited to use this time to anticipate the day and to be thankful for the life they've been given. Tuxxie also enjoys using this time to think of the day to come and what he's excited for in it. It's a good way for the clan to stay grounded and focused without feeling too dismal even in trying times, because there's always a sunrise, and always another attempt at doing it again.

The original clan this tradition owes most of its roots to, however, practices this as a religious observance. This clan, familiar to Redmoon, is a clan of storkies with connections to light and the sun, so they see the sunrise ceremony as a religious observance insofar as for them the sun represents their paragon of light and the original magic that they draw their own magic from. This was lost in translation as the storkies who came to Tuxxie's clan from this one were either very young ex-clan members like Redmoon, or they were cats who were not members of the clan and had only heard hearsay about it from other sources.
