A she-cat's muzzle touched lightly to the dirt as she sniffed and parted her jaws, taking in the surrounding scents. The female was alone, searching along dried brush in a vacant clearing for a chance at a meal - something hard to come by lately. The entire area seemed to be evacuated of any other life, excluding the occasional buzzing of an insect. She needed to find food soon, already having gone several days without a significant meal. Her sister was getting so thin..

The smallest movement of brittle grass made the feline poise her ears, high on alert for the possible grub near by. Her eyes flickered across her line of vision, irises composed of amber flecks within mandarin ovals. Her pelt mashed together with the scenery, a dusty orange speckled body and white tipped ears, giving her the perfect advantage to surprise her prey.

Eyes finally locking onto the small vole sitting just to the side of a boulder, her muscles tensed. It wasn't much of a meal, a small snack really, but it was better than starving if she could manage to catch it. Over two weeks without a meal left her weak and disoriented, but she kept her wits and concentrated on the potential food as best she could.

Jaw set, she padded quietly closer, paws leaving silent marks behind. Once she was close enough, she moved into a crouching position low to the ground. All at once, the cat thrust her body out, deadly claws extended.. and she missed. Dismay crashed into her as she saw the vole slip away with a surprised shriek. Starvation had made her weak and she misjudged the jump her withering muscles would push her. She scrambled to her paws in an attempt to give chase, but the creature was long gone and her aching limbs sank into the ground.

Eyes closed, she envisioned her sister back at their den. Her body racked with sickness and fading away. Dying in slow agony. A loss she could not bare. Her breath caught in her throat. Fear crept in as she raised her muzzle to the sky. She let out a piercing cry, distress and despair consuming her. She would die, from the sickness or starvation or both, and there was nothing she could do to stop it.

Prompt: Once when Moon was out in the pasture on a sunny afternoon, he spotted some ducklings in the pond next to him. He glanced around looking for the mother duck, but couldn’t find her. All of a sudden he saw two hawks screeching and circling above. He then realized that they were trying to eat the ducklings. As time went by and the mother did not come back, Moon decided he had to do something, he was going to save the ducklings. He waited until one of the hawks swooped down close to him, then reared up and caught the hawks wing with his teeth. The hawk screeched and screamed till he let go, once the hawk was free it hopped awkwardly away. The second hawk saw what happened and quickly flew away. During this event, the duckling s who were startled by the commotion waddled under a bush. “ I saved some ducklings!” He announced proudly to himself.

Sometime between your clans patrols, there are occasional reports of a small deer family heading through the territory. It sounds a little funny that that's worth reporting on-- but your leader listens anyways. The mama deer is young, according to one of your senior warriors, and has three babies. She's fairly small and seems to be a first timer, something that makes you just a little bit more happy each time you hear about them. It's been about a moon or two and it seems like they're growing into strong deer.

However, one report, tells you that there is the smell of blood near one of the borders-- deer blood specifically. The warrior reporting to you seems worried and asks to check on the family that you've been hearing about for so long. After some deliberation, you agree and send a patrol out. Hopefully she's alright.
