(written from a humanoid perspective, as i can't write quads very well qvq)

The aether woke up to the sound of metal clinking and fire crackling, the cloth of the tent above him. Groggily he sat up, the early morning sun shining in through the slight opening in the tent. He slowly pulled himself out of the tent, yawning as he did so. He walked out to greet his companions, though the words sounded quieter, or sometimes louder, than he expected them to. His actions seemed almost out of his control, sometimes more forceful than intended, sometimes not forceful enough. The knight was puzzled, perhaps he hadn't gotten enough sleep that night? He sought to clear his mind and walk for a while, but things seemed so..unrealistic? The trees blew in the wind too bouncily, the grass underfoot felt like it was barely present. The aether was lost in thought, and he ended up tripping over his own two feet as a result.
The feeling of falling jolted him awake yet again, and he lifted his head and glanced around for a moment, he was back in his home, a cabin tucked deep within the woods. The aspiring author rushed over to his desk and jotted down the memories he retained from his dream, the writing was messy, as his hands still seemed hard to move from them having been slept on, and his brain found it hard to create the words he was looking for, ever desperately trying to grasp from his sleeping mind. He set his pen down and quietly wandered off to his kitchen, getting a tea kettle full of water put on the stove and plucking a personal favorite tea from his collection and setting it on the counter while he dug around for a cup. Once he set his cup on the counter he leaned back on the counter, and he straightened out his baggy pajama pants, and went off in search of his glasses while he waited for his tea water to come to boil, so he could brainstorm on the lives of the adventurers he'd met in his dream.

The young aether stared at the slit in the door, where one eye was peeking through, staring at her. "I am here to see...you-know-who..."
The eye rolled, before the voice behind the door spoke again. "Alright, I will open the door."
The slit then closed, and there was the sound of chains moving beyond the door before it swung open, whoever...or whatever had been peeking through, was now gone, without a trace.
The female stepped inside, tail twitching before she heard a creak, and she turned, just in time to see the door slam behind her. Flicking an ear and staying still for a moment, she then turned, pulling her cloak in more around her face before going down the hall...towards the room, the only room this place had.
She walked over, opening the large wooden door with a freak and walking into the almost pitch black room, before closing it. How do I find him?
Well, it seemed she didn't need to, as a voice bellowed over the silence.
"Who are you."
"Great Shadow, I am Mallory of the west, come to seek your help that you give to those who prove loyal." The aether said, bowing, not looking at the beast that emerged. "Oh great one, my family is in danger, we need your help!"
"I refuse."
The aether looked up helplessly at the creature, staring into the lifeless, cold red eyes. "But please-"
"My answer is no! That is final!" The creature bellowed, and the aether crouched down, scared out of her wits.
"You need to bring an offering. Only then will I think about it."
