How did they end up in your care? It is quite the ridiculous story as to how this stallion turned up at our stable. The was an elderly couple who was boarding him with us for a few days once in a while and no one knew why there was always weird patterns brushed and sometimes shaved into his coat or bits of tinfoil in his mane. Everyone just knew to give him a good bath and clean up his coat as best they could. The couple seemed fairly normal but one day Serpentine's owner happened upon the stallion then known as 'Cocoa' at an auction. Since the stable adored him and he had great potential it was an easy choice to win the bidding and take him home. After a bit of investigating and getting in contact with the family, it turns out the elderly couple was slightly insane. They believed that they had been abducted by aliens a few weeks earlier, and were convinced their family was also taken and replaced with aliens who were there to infiltrate the planet. When authorities tried to apprehend them they said something along the lines of the aliens not being able to brainwash them while they wore tinfoil hats, like the classic alien believers. The pair was now admitted into a psych ward that had a dual purpose of an elderly home. The family had returned to the property to find him standing in the living room with some sort of makeshift tinfoil head covering and what they assumed must be alien inspired painted onto him. Know one has really been able to figure out why they would periodically do the painting of the horse but they were crazy so know one will ever find out. Not having the time or space for the horse the relatives sold him along with the house and property. He is now happy as a clam, and renamed something a bit more befitting of his past, as ridiculous as it may be.

How did they end up in your care?
Warlock's appearance is a bit of a mystery, he was found out in a pasture with some mares. Although a stallion he didn't try to mount any of the mares and was just happy to have their company. When it came to catching him, he fought being roped a bit but once he got used to the rope around his neck though he calmed down and showed that he was very friendly. I could tell that he was obviously someone's pride and joy since Warlock did really well when being handled and would let me pick up all four of his feet without a fuss. Someone would be missing this awesome boy so I went and started to search around in the neighborhood as well as posting online about Warlock and asking for help in finding who owned him. A couple weeks went by before anyone contacted me and I hated to admit it but I was beginning to get attached to him, the people sounded surprised and excited when I told them how amazing he was and wanted to come out and see him as soon as possible. The people who claimed to have lost him were a younger couple close to their thirties and even said that he was their prized stud at their barn, everyone who saw him wanted a breeding with him. Over the phone they sounded fairly sure and official about him which made me happy but more than a little sad, but I knew he would be happier going home and we set up a day to meet.
Warlock was in the stall nearest the barn door when I brought the people who claimed to own him in to see him, Warlock gave a nicker of greeting to me but seemed polite but unsure of who the man and woman were. They weren't any of the people who helped out with the horses and he seemed confused as to why they were all excited about him and were trying to desperately rub their hands all over his face. Warlock lifted his head out of reach before backing up farther into his stall. I started to feel anxious for Warlock because these people acted like they didn't know much about horses or about even about him. "You two said he was registered over the phone?" I asked uncertainly, not really sure if they did or not but I was wondering about how much they really knew about Warlock, I didn't know very much but they seemed to know less than I did. "Did we? Well of course he is, that's why so many people want to get a breeding with him, he has a lot of star names in his family tree." The man said confidently while the woman was waving eagerly over the stall door at Warlock. "Really? Like who?" The man paused for a moment, he looked dumbstruck like he didn't expect me to ask about who was in Warlock's family line. The woman turned from the door quickly "He has the Black stallion in his bloodline, it's a ways back but it's there." Now it was my turn to look surprised, she was claiming that a fictional racehorse was in Warlock's family line.
"Excuse me.. I don't mean to interrupt but-" an older man stood in the doorway looking unsure of who to talk to among the three of us. "I was told by a friend that someone found my horse?" Warlock, who retreated into his stall earlier moved back towards the door and stuck his head out as far as it would go. Warlock seemed happier to see this man than the couple who were standing right beside his stall. I turned to the couple and gave them a cold stare. "I would appreciate if you two leave before I call some of the ranch hands to help you leave." The couple didn't need to be told twice before scurrying to their car and driving off. I watched them go before turning back to the older gentleman and Warlock, the gentleman was rubbing Warlock's forehead and Warlock looked content and happy it was him. "I thought I wouldn't get to see him again." the gentleman said as he gave Warlock's cheek a gentle pat before giving me his full attention. "Thank you for keeping him safe from those people who were here earlier, Warlock has been a real eye catcher since he was young. I worried that he would end up being sold to someone who was going to buy him for meat or mistreat him. Of all the horses I have had in my life he is the one I will treasure even when he is gone." I nodded, confused as to why Warlock would be sold to someone horrible. "Are you planning on selling him?" I asked half dreading the answer but also half hoping that I could attempt to buy him. "Isn't that how you came by him? My son was taking him as well as a few other of my horses to be sold, we lost our property and I couldn't keep him." It was the gentleman's turn to look confused now, his face showed that he was now wondering how I came to have his horse. "Warlock kind of showed up one day, some ranch hands saw him walk up the drive and jump one of the pasture fences to be with some of my other horses. I've been trying to find his owners to return him." I kind of wished I didn't though now that I was seeing how confusing this all turned out to be and that some people would lie to your face in hopes of getting a horse like Warlock for themselves. "I would love to take him back but I don't have the space for horses anymore, if you don't mind him then I don't see why you couldn't keep him, he seems happy here and you care about him." I nodded with tears of happiness in my eyes. "I would love to keep him.. but I feel bad because you seem to love him a lot too.. If you ever want to come out to see him or ride him for a while. I wouldn't say no because you love him too and I would hate for you to feel like you couldn't come to see him." The gentleman smiled and turned to give Warlock his attention again. "Warlock is smart, always has been, he can tell more about a person or place than any of my other horses. That might be why he decided to show up, he knew he would be safe here." I looked at Warlock who seemed pretty happy just to be with his old owner, the stallion turned to look at me for a moment before nickering at me again. I gave a little dorky nicker back before standing by his stall door too. He was an amazing horse and I was sure he planned this from the start.

How did they end up in your care? Jooheon was thrown around from owner to owner, having been to many different stables in South Korea because of this. He was known well as a trouble making horse, and so every owner would sell him the moment someone said that they liked him. Finally came along Jay Sun, or better known in Korea as Sun Jaehwa. Jay had found the horse while at an Equestrian Club and he couldn't figure out why no one would ever go near the stallion. The owner of the club, also the owner of Jooheon at the time, sold the stallion to Jay at a cheap price, but he told Jay that he had to take himself and the horse elsewhere as the Club didn't want him influencing the other horses any more. Having been to almost every club in the Seoul metropolitan area and have caused a ruckus, Jooheon wasn't allowed back to any of them. Jay wasn't sure where to take the horse, but he ran across Winter Peak as he was searching for places further from Seoul. He drove his new stallion out to Winter Peak and told the stables that he would lend Jooheon as a lesson horse for more experienced riders if he could stay at the stables. Winter Peak agreed and Jooheon as been living peacefully there since. He seems to have calmed down a bit more since Jay bought him, but he's still wild toward inexperienced riders who think they can ride him.
