It was normal for horses to be in her dreams, even though her dreams weren't in any stretch 'normal'. There was always one horse she recognized, even if she couldn't remember him being in any other dreams before that. A magnificent stallion he was, the prettiest buckskin she'd ever seen with eyes that seemed to glow. In every dream he was just on the horizon, never close enough for her to touch but always close enough to keep her in sight.

So when she was out on the trail with one of her newer horses and she looked up in time for him, that stallion to vanish into the forest, her interest was officially piqued. Tequila, the horse she'd chosen to ride, seemed to want to follow him badly enough they actually left the trail for a few moments.

Once they'd gotten home, she didn't take any of the horses out. All of them seemed to be restless, straining against the lead and trying to get out into the forest. Unfortunately, this meant they had to be kept in the stables or the round pens with large walls, and she hated keeping them penned up.

Finally, they seemed to calm down and she was sure enough about them not escaping to turn them out into the pasture while she cleaned out their stalls.

Halfway through the third stall, the shrill sound of horses screaming threw her into a panic and she rushed outside. She was unarmed, but that didn't matter much. As soon as she was out of the door, she stopped dead in her tracks and watched him. Teeth bared, ears flat against his head, and hooves flashing at a snarling mountain lion. He stood just between the cat and Tex, who was just staring wide-eyed at what would have been her death.

The cat began to slink away, and the stallion gave chase until both vanished. The entire herd seemed shaken up, and she immediately put them back in the stables. Either that stallion was incredibly bad luck, bad things happening when he turned up, or he was a good omen. Or both. Either way, she ended up staying the night with the still shaken-up Tex.

The next day, she had to leave for business in the city, so she, begrudgingly, allowed the herd into the pasture and appointed a few of her stable hands as temporary guards.

"Guards? For what?" they asked.
"Anything and everything." she responded.

But of course they didn't do their jobs. One left for lunch, and the other fell asleep almost immediately, and when it was time to bring the horses back in, neither of them took notice of the strange new horse until they realized there was no stall ready for him. "Just shove 'em in with Tex for tonight. They seem to get along anyway." He nodded at his co-worker and put the stallion in with the foal, went through their nightly chores, and went off to bed.

A few hours later, when the stable owner came home and went to check on her precious horses, she nearly had a heart attack when she saw Tex and the stallion curled up together in the foal's stall. As she stood there, he lifted his head and stared at her until she looked away. There was rustling, the clopping of hooves, and a soft nose touched her neck. She stood stock still until he'd finished sniffing her, then turned to glance at him, only to burst into laughter. This stallion, this terrifying being, had pulled his top lip up away from his teeth and was actually smiling at her.

She spent yet another night in the stables. During that night, the stallion's name became Ambriel, Tex seemed to adopt him as a father figure, and the stable owner was able to give Ambriel a much-needed bath and spend a few hours grooming him and de-tangling his mane and tail. She couldn't bear to cut the hair down to normal length, so he left both long and braided the longest bits to keep them out of his legs. Eventually, all three fell asleep together.

Your first encounter?: I turn my head around just catching a back leg of a horse before it disperses in the woods.There was that horse again, I swear I'm seeing it more and more. Well, hearing it leave. But everything I get close enough to catch a glimpse of it, it runs off. You'd think it would stop coming by now however it hasn't. I always thought if a wild horse saw a human they would run off all together and not come back. Maybe it's not wild. It can't be I never saw anything on it that showed it could be owned. It's so strange. I shake my head and put my focus back on my task. I lift another hay bale and head toward to the hay loft. Some of the horses turn their heads to face me as I pass. I quietly put up the door and climb up the stairs. I navigate my way through the maze of hay and what not. I finally get to a empty area and place down my hay bale. I begin to head back down the stair when I smell a distance smell, smoke.

I run down the stair quickly opening the door. To my dismay I'm met with the flames. The whole barn was ablaze. I sound of hooves rumble though the barn. I caught sight of a pale buckskin horse with strip of white on there shoulder. However I know we don't have a horse that fit such description. What is it doing here? I walk out into the burning barn. The horse kicks out of one of the stable doors. Sending another horse fleeing the burning barn. I notice the rise of the stalls are empty. It's like the horse was protecting them... The horse's head turns turns to me. I stare at the horse. It is that I saw before? I shake my head going out of my daze, to my dismal I see flame guarding my way out wip

My first encounter with Ambriel was on a cheerful day at the horse fair. I was there with fellow horse friends watching people play games on horseback, eat stuff, and the horses to be auctioned off there. I walked down the rows of stalls looking around for a horse that seemed special. I had to sell my own horse a few years ago due to financial problems, but now its fine. As I walked around I felt strangely attracted to something in the back, the feeling of some force pulling me there. I followed that feeling and walked to the last row of the barn and to the last stall. There stood a beautiful Buttermilk Buckskin Tobiano. I stared at it for a few minutes finding it looking quite familiar. Wait. I've seen her before.

The first few days after I had sold my beloved horse I had been so sad and depressed. I had dreams those days of a lovely mare nuzzling me on the shoulder comforting me. Memories came flooding back full of those dreams. I gasped causing my friends to be slightly startled. This was the mare I had seen in my dream! All the same markings and colours. I thought as the mare reached her head out the opened top of the stall door and snuffled my face. It was all so familiar. That was when I decided, I was going to bid on her and bring her home.

The auctioning had started and I patiently waited till the last horses were called and led around. I heard the man speak of a lovely mare and rushed over to watch. There was Ambriel I smiled. The bidding had started and I was not the only one that was attracted to her beauty and gentle nature. The price was rising, shouts of bids came from everywhere. 300! 350! 375! oh no, I only had $350 with me from my parents who told be to find a horse I liked. I sighed in defeat and felt sad. All of a sudden I heard a familiar void yell out 450. I looked up and saw my friend there. He had yelled out a bid for the mare for $450.

I knew he didn't have the money and neither did I, but I just say that smirk on his face. No one else had bided higher so he had gotten her. The male dragged me towards the speaker and motioned for me to take out the money I brought for the horse. I took it all out. "But I don't have-" I was interrupted by him as he took a hundred dollars out of his pocket and handed it to the man. I looked around and saw my other friends with a questioned look. Before I could ask about it the man handed me Ambriel's lead rope. I immediately smiled and huge her neck happily.

Later on I learned that my friends had pooled their money together to help me, I cried with tears of joy and promised to pay them back someday. I now had Ambriel, and my group of friends that I love dearly. Ambriel was a great horse, calm on trails, energetic during jumps.
