Orville is a suave and focused individual who prefers not to stray from his work as an astronomer. In return, this habit makes him reclusive not because he doesn't like socializing, but because he gets so sucked into his work. His co-workers mock and tease him for a lack of life away from his job, but he tends to ignore him and vanish into his own little world. The only way he's been able to make the few friends he actually has is by conversing about the world outside of Earth, and what is and what might be out there. He's fascinated by every single thing about space, and when his work is over, he's usually reading books about astronomers, planets, stars, astronauts, and things like that. He even entertains himself by reading about folk lore involving stars, and even about Roman gods that the planets were named after.

So, as you may be able to tell, Orville is a huge dork and a quirky Mako. Many find him odd, especially when they see him dragging a large telescope out onto his porch or lying out on the empty beach at night to gaze adoringly at the night sky. People around him find it especially strange when he zones out, because he just stares blankly at whatever for a few minutes without even blinking. This usually means he's having deep thoughts, most likely about space. When it comes to making friends with him, it takes a very patient Mako who's willing to talk for hours about stars and go stargazing at the beach with him. He gets very passionate when it comes to talking about what he loves, and often gets a little overexcited about it [jumping up and down, running to the beach at full speed, shaking, the inability to stop grinning, reactions such as those], so if they spend enough time with him, they'll hopefully get used to that.

In addition to these traits, he's surprisingly adventurous when he sees the opportunity to go out there and leap out of his comfort zone. He's the type who breezes through dangerous adventures without realizing all of the threats around him, often blathering on about random facts if a partner happens to be with him. If he falls and gives his traveling partner a scare, he just gets right back up and continues marching on his way. Much to his pals' dismay, he hardly thinks when he's on his excursions.

The one word I would use to describe Orville overall? Quirky. Quirky in a good way, sometimes quirky in a bad way. Just quirky.

★ .:A new friend?:.

Orville dashed toward the beaches just a mile away from his home, scaling the large rocks that jut out of the ground and pouncing from hills. Soon enough the grassy feel below his paws turned into the sinking of sand. He panted heavily, a few drops perspiration sliding down his face. "Ah!" He gasped to himself, his eyes shooting up to the royal blue skies. "I'm not late." The male released a relieved sigh, taking a seat in the sand then letting himself fall back. His body sank down in the sank like a pillow, shifting to get himself comfortable.

As soon as he found himself situated, his attention returned to the heavens above. Lights shot across the sky in a swift fashion, making it hard for Orville to focus on just one meteor. His lips curled back into a grin as satisfaction fluttered in his chest. "The show has finally began." He murmured to himself, watching as the meteors dashed along the sky and vanished with a blink of an eye. His tail twitched back and forth gleefully as he experienced something which he lived for- the wonders and beauties of the things that dwell past Earth.

Soon enough, a gentle voice called out behind him, causing Orville to give a small jump. A petite wolf stood behind him, standing in a friendly position, and gazing at him with soft green eyes. "It's a fine day for watching the night sky, is it not?" She commented with a smile, approaching his side with a long, elegant stride. Just a few feet away from him she sat, curled her thick tail over her small paws, and watched the meteors pass with great curiosity. "Meteor showers? My, I didn't expect those tonight." She mused, glancing at Orville.

Per usual, Orville felt the habitual urge to answer her thoughts. "Well, you see, they come at completely random times." He hesitated, but when he saw interest gleaming in her eyes he decided it'd be fine to continue. "Comets, big balls of dust, rock, ice, and gases, get too close to the sun and creates debris and spread out in orbit. Those things you see flying across the sky are going at about around thirty thousand miles per hour, and may even be up to three thousand degrees fahrenheit." His skin suddenly heated up as he finished, realizing that he rambled on in front of a stranger.

Things went silent, as the female wolf slowly nodded her head in understanding and awe. She spent a few more minutes gazing at the meteoroids, then finally broke the silence as she stood to her paws. "It was a pleasure speaking to you, but I really must be on my way." She bowed her head politely, then began to walk off. Yet, she quickly halted, looking back at him from over her shoulder. "Thank you, for telling me about those fascinating things." She spoke sincerely, then bolted into the rainforest that stood near the beach. Orville only watched as this mysterious wolf was engulfed by the wildness of the island's untamable jungle.

Orville, a little shaken up by the random appearance of the wolf, slowly looked back at the sky. The meteor shower was now over, now only the twinkling of the stars and the crescent moon to be seen. He laughed quietly to himself, shrugging his shoulders as if to shake the events off. "Perhaps someone as strange as I does live on this island."

Note:: The wolf used in the story is Annetie, a character owned by me.

★ A little on his backstory::
Orville was born on the same island which he lives now, in the same exact house, with a mother, father, and an older brother. His father was more on the distant side, and had little patience for Orville's wild ideas about the world outside of Earth. His brother tended to tease and bully him, though when their father wasn't around the home, he'd discretely encourage him to follow what he believes in and do whatever he wants with his life. Their mother, on the other hand, basically ignored all that went on around her, deciding to stay as the neutral party.

When he was old enough, Orville insisted that he go to the mainland [the nearest and largest continent nearby being Australia] and attend college in Sydney, Australia. When his father questioned with great suspicion what school he would attend, Orville nervously explained Sydney's Astrology school. His father quickly swatted down the idea in a harsh fashion, scolding his son and saying things like "Studying about stars will earn you no money", "you'll turn into a no-life loser", and other various rude sentences.

After that night, Orville and his older brother worked to earn money, and after a little over a year earned enough to buy a ferry ride to Australia, enough for taxis to drive him to Sydney, a half-year's rent in an apartment, and their mother presented money that her own mother had given her for the school's tuition. One day when his father was too busy for work, the rest of his family urged him to go to the port and catch the ferry before he could catch on. Eagerly did Orville do so, and he was successful in the runaway.

Orville did indeed make it to Sydney, and he was also accepted with open arms into the astrology school. He worked hard during his college years- studying, as well as working as both a waiter by day and bartender in the evening to produce enough money to become self-sufficient. Within a few years, he was able to graduate and find a job. Oddly enough, this specific job happened to be back at his home island, which he wasn't able to visit the entire time he attended school.

When he returned to said island, he discovered the changes that his family had undergone. His older brother was inspired to become independent, so had travelled to England to major in literature. His father passed away just a few months ago of a heart attack, but his mother was healthy and perfectly happy. She currently lives in a separate little house she bought for herself near Orville, and Orville currently is still working with the island's legendary Planetarium.

The main thing he learned from his life's experiences so far; never let anything stop you from getting to your goals. A little cheesy, but he thinks it makes for a good point.
