Personality:
Marin can be harsh sometimes, and seem cold and uncaring, but she is that way because she does care. Being from the same pack as Vanya and Kimimaro, she was mistreated by the males, and even sometimes the other females of the pack. She resorted to training other young females to defend themselves secretly, being as harsh as the males were to teach them that they would not receive mercy in a real fight, and that if they could not fight her they would not be able to defend themselves. She can be gentle when it's needed, but prefers to stay in her hard shell as long as she is with the pack. She does hope to someday run away from the pack, but does not want to leave the other females behind to suffer.

History:
The pain in my upper arm stung like fire, working it's way up to the shoulder as the bruise grew in size, and turned a blackish-purple. I did not want to belong to the male I was promised to by my father, but upon me refusal, I received a good beating for speaking up against the fate he decided for me. I could not decide which was worse, belonging to my father who seemed to use me as a pawn to try and gain a connection to a higher up family, or belonging to one of the cruelest males in the entire pack. Either way seemed like a horrible life full of torture and more beatings where this one came from. I hated the rank system of the pack, first came the high class males, their male children, lower class males, their male children, and lastly was the females, at the bottom, treated worse then slaves. We were tools for them, the ones who did the dirty work they thought was too low for them to do, like cook and clean, as well as take care of the babies. The thought of how we live brings up a hellfire from deep inside me, making me wish I could change things, making me wish I could reach out and rake my claws across the face of any male who saw me as lowly and weak, an object that they could abuse as much as they please. I only had a few weeks before I was to be handed over to a young male who belonged to one of the highest families in the pack, and also one of the cruelest. It was known by all that the daughter was slaughtered by her own father, since he refused to have any female children, his reason, they were useless to him and take too much work to raise. Only a few weeks left before I would belong to them, and if I did not work up to par, I would meet the same fate as the daughter.

I knew where the males trained, and I followed them there. I used my few weeks to learn defense, and some hunting skills in case I had to run for my life. I would show them that it was time for things to change, but that would mean getting the other females involved, but many were too afraid. It was the actions of Vanya and Kimimaro that changed it all. She defied the laws by carrying a bow, and he defied the laws by saving her when she could not use her weapon. This was the game changer, this brought courage. The males were rattled by the bow wielding female who dare point a weapon at her higher up and the male who defended her, and the females of the pack were encouraged, they could fight back, they could flip the pack upside down and shake from the place it stands, all they needed was the one little nudge, then another. I was the one who provided the second nudge forward to a better life, I secretly brought other young females to train with me, learn defensive moves as well as be able to study the fighting and hunting skills so we could be ready if they fought us. Together we created new fighting techniques more suited for a small female fighting against a large male. Are group became bigger, then split into many smaller groups. The males were indeed even more shaken as one by one they realized their females were becoming defiant. I only had one night of freedom left before I was to be handed over, but he would not get what he wanted from me, no, I would defy him to the very end.

The day came, the hall used for such a ceremony was ready and the leaders were there waiting. The hall was really a large cave, furs placed around the walls on the floor for the males to sit on, and carvings of ancient writing on the walls above, unreadable by the females of the pack. He sat beside the great elder as I was led to the front by my father, though it was more like dragging me up there. I did not keep my head down, I looked the young male in the eyes, showing him the fire within my soul, hoping to anger him, hoping to rattle him, but I saw no reaction on his face. The elder spoke a few words, as if speaking a blessing or bond, but they were in the ancient language. The young male stood took my hand and my father released the other. It was done, I then belonged to the cruelest family of the entire pack. I didn't even have time to let it sink in before I was being dragged out of the hall and brought to my new home, where I felt the sting of his hand upon my face as he slapped me, anger clear in his eyes. My defiance had rattled him, and I knew from then that I had already won the war that was coming in like a tsunami.

personality; generally shy and certainly a dreamer, as well as compassionate and understanding.

history; carousel was a pony used in an attraction at fairs, until her owners were running low on money and resorted to letting her go, out into the city. luckily, she was found by a stables who trained spanish horses, and they welcomed carousel and discovered her talent. soon enough, she was all decked out in shining tack, prancing along with the other horses just like she had always dreamed.

After a while, thing start to blur, colors mixing and objects becoming indistinguishable from others. Still, I walk on, head held in place by a long metal pole, walking around, and around, and around. Pointless noises and movements crowd my mind, but the only thing I pay attention to is walking. On, and on, and on.

Three other ponies are tethered to the metal, spider-like contraption; though I am quite possibly the strangest, with my spotty yellow coat. All day, we would walk, around and around, completely ignorant of the small and often wiggling human-foals that were placed upon us. Everything was dull, dull, dull.

We cannot cease our rounds until the sun finally slips beyond the horizon, leaving darkness and little twinkling stars to take its place. The children are gone by now, only a few curious gazes thrown my way. We wait, and sometimes, the people come before I start to fall asleep. Most of the time, they forget about us, and I am unpleasantly jerked from my sleep from an urgent tug on the too-small halter they’ve fit around my muzzle.

Four pens are set up next to the human’s sleeping place, mildly spacious, but with only red dirt underfoot and scarce rations of feed and water. There we will stay for many more days, working until the sun goes down. Then we will be ushered into a small box and transported to our next destination. Boring, boring, boring.

There is though, one thing that sends a rush of excitement through me; from my spot tethered to the spinning metal thing, I can just barely catch a glimpse of the sandy arena down the hill. To me, it is a place of wonders - so many beautiful creatures waltz through the sand, ears pricked, knees picked up to their muzzles. Oh, how I would wish to be a part of the parade, flashy tack and flaunting gait. It felt as if a part of me had left and resided with those immaculate horses, while I stood on the hill, head lowered and ears drooping.

I wanted to dance with them, so badly. I would even try to practice myself, picking up my front legs and curving my neck, but the humans were never happy with my display. They would tie my head down tighter and watch me closer, snapping if I put a hoof out of place. So I was forced to only watch, wishing with all of my heart that I could join the beautiful dance.

Eyes bright. Neck arched. Stretching my front legs out in a trot that made me float above the ground, every bone, every muscle, every hair in perfect place. Gentle clinking of soft, supple leather and an abundance of golden embellishes, reflecting in the dim sunlight. It was everything I had ever wished for; finally, I, Carousel, the useless carnival pony, had joined the dance.

And oh, how I felt whole again.
