She bounces back quickly, but she doesn't easily forgive those who are not impressed by her.

Pirate is rather a lot like those she was named after, bar the whole violent aspect, she's loud, overly jovial, and takes a lot more chances than she really should. Such as attempting to leapt over fences she's not sure she can make, teasing Teke's bigger than herself and messing around when she should be working. You can always find her in the padddock simply from how much noise she makes, neighing and snorting to the other Teke's to share in whatever joke she's making. Approaching her, however is always a different matter. Pirate has always been a little wild, a little untamed, and her reactions to people varies greatly, she can be wary, agressive or trot up to you like an old friend. Her owners are not entirely sure of why she can be so unpredicatable but as long as she doesn't make anyone walk the plank, it tends to be managable, you just have t approach her slowly and with food. Pirate hoards things, keeps it as her own personal booty, and is easily bribed into liking people if they offer food or even shiney object, ribbon and flowers. Pirate collects anything - even if she does eat the food after a while - and stores her stolen items under the straw in her stall.

Oh my freaking goodness. I don't have the words to describe how handsome this boy is. I just... It's kind of like someone was teasing a dog with a bone, and I'm the dog, then they took it away. That's my breath at this moment.

As it turned out, the stallion settled quietly soon enough. She was anxious as she drove in, anxious as she lifted the hatch to the pen with a fence eight feet tall, anxious as she backed the trailer up. Gate lifted, trailer parked, she clambered over the fence stiffly and opened up the back.
The stallion shot out like a rocket and with all the force of a rifle crack. He charged across the pen, attempted to clear the walls, and gave her enough time to walk through the trailer and drop the pen’s gate. She watched him race around the edges, nostrils flaring to show red, eyes wide and rimmed with white.
She watched, and part of her resignation was replaced with excitement and awe at the magnificent creature. From the strong hindquarters to the flowing gait, he was an excellent specimen. She made a note to ask one of those at Bear Run what the brand meant, looked at the red horizon, and went off to bed.
In the morning she stretched sore muscles, walking down the stairs after throwing on a pair of jeans to check on the newest addition to her ranch. The stallion was pacing, but not with the same intensity as the previous day. She checked his water trough, the condition of the grass in the pen, and chucked hay over the fence.
More notes she needed to add. Her shopping list was forming in her mind’s eye as she watched the suspicion on the stallion’s face. He needed a name, because ‘The Stallion’ was not going to cut it. Not if she wanted to actually tame him. She remembered a mare from a stint in Colorado, the easily spooked Mustang having been near impossible to train. She still wasn’t sure how that had worked.
The stallion had moved closer, dancing with high head and steps towards the hay, before suddenly spinning around and galloping hard to the other end. She added vet and farrier to her list, made a note that when he wasn’t so jumpy to check his teeth for sharp bits. Then he dropped like a rock and rolled, bouncing up again with a snort and trotting the perimeter of the fence, nosing at the occasional board.
She watched him a while yet, before duty and breakfast and coffee called, and she left. Throughout the day she came back, again and again with each spare moment, to just stand and watch and make sure the stallion was safe and that he had water and hadn’t hurt himself.
Names were on her mind. Finally, remembering a book she had once read with a stallion that carried himself with the same pride and confidence her stallion did, she settled on Piper. And so, each time she came to the fence, she called his new name, softly and carefully, rewarding each interested swing of his head with a treat thrown near him.
Piper was a fast learner, sharp eyes watching each movement. A week in, and he expected her, responded better to his name, and was growing calmer every day. On day nineteen, he came up to her.

History:
Pyrois was from a very well planned breeding. Both his father and mother had beautiful teke confirmation and coloring, and everyone was exited for their foal. About a week before he was born, his mother broke out of the stable and went missing for a few days. When she came back she had pulled a tendon on her front leg and had various wounds. When she had Pyrois she had no interest in him and abandoned him. The owners contacted all the local barns to see if anyone had a mare that would adopt Pyrois, but no one did. A couple days passed of bottle feeding and hours of care and attention when a phone call came that an arabian mare had lost her foal at birth. Everyone crossed their fingers as they drove to the arabian breeders stable. The mare immediately took to tiny Pyrois, and was so happy to be mothering a foal like she was suppose to. He grew fast and spent his time in the pastures playing with the other arabian foals.
The year passed and it was eventually time to wean him and bring him back to the tekes resort ranch. Pyrois was no sweetheart in his weanling years. He was a nightmare dressed like a daydream quoting Taylor Swift. He made trouble everywhere he went, kicking down or trying to eat anything in reach. He was very noisy, kicking stall doors and constantly whinnying causing the other horses to get riled up. He would rear, bolt, and pull if you where leading him, and it came to a point where everyone was avoiding him at all costs.
By the time Pyrois was three, he was sent off to travel with a man who did clinics for natural horsemanship. This gave Pyrois a chance to learn manners, but also gave people a chance to see the phaethon's teke breed. He learned quickly, and by the time the clinic was over, Pyrois was a different horse. When he was sent back to the teke resort everyone was awestruck by his obedient and patient attitude, and treated him like a king. He was taught to be ridden in dressage, and went to several teke confirmation shows, commonly placing high if not first.
Pyrois has competed, been ridden, and even been a lesson horse for people on some occasions for the last 4 years. He was recently put up for stud, and though he will probably still compete in the future, he will be let to run around the hundreds of acres of land at the teke resort, and will hopefully start a herd of mares and have beautiful offspring!

The paddock was empty, the chill of the winter morning having kept most of the Tekes in their stall for the day, but one had dared to venture out into the cold, snow crunching under his hooves, leaving a trail of half-moons behind him as he picked his way through the paddock. He wasn't bothered by the cold, not nearly as much as the other Tekes, and was watching in mild fasination as his breathes became little clouds above hs nostrils, disspiating after a moment only to reappear with the next exhale. A repetitive little thing, like the now familar sounds of his hooves, and he was calmed by it, any previous fear towards the expanse of white having faded. Covered in white the paddock was more beautiful than ever, a white blanket that stretched as far as the Teke could see in all directions, the picket fence lost completely to the snow, just as the trough and tree stumps had been. Only the single oak tree remained standing tall in the centre of the once green feild, its branches bare but still reaching towards the sky, layered with snow but not weighed down by it and standing in the great tree's shadow, Lucius felt like the king of the paddock. And until spring, he would be.

Literature. It makes up my whole life, really. I'm always scribbling down words on paper, all day, everyday; or, at least a majority of the day, it seems. Otherwise, I'm reading, thinking, or cleaning; If dusting was considered a talent, I'd be considered a professional, I assure you. I would take walks or fly to places, but my missing leg interferes with such activities; when walking, I limp, and when flying, I loose control easily thanks to imbalance. Perhaps that's why I write for hours upon hours everyday; it's my escape from reality. A world so mysteriously perfect, but imperfect at the same time; a world I often get lost in, quite literally, considering I live in a book housed on the shelves of a medieval library. Often, other Iquena will visit me, wanting to hear my many stories. I'll happily read them if asked politely; I enjoy seeing others' reactions to my tales. Some days, I make extra copies of my stories, and trade them for other unique items at the nearby trading post; a truly marvelous place, if I do say so myself. My nights are spent either dreaming, or lost in deep thought; often I remember how I lost my leg. A rather... Embarrassing story involving an inattentive me and a paper cutter; not a pleasant memory. Anyway... I also prepare for the coming day by arranging a schedule before I lay to rest, including every event and possible outcome; I want to be ready for anything.
