Sveldala #1000 based on this drawing by ShadyBro
by ShadyBro @ Thu May 09, 2024 8:08 am [Reply]

Image

We made it folks - sveldala #1000! After seven years of loving this species and slowly building it up to the awesome community we have today, I'm just so thrilled to get to this amazing achievement <3

As is tradition, this milestone adopt will be a custom raffle - but this time, you all get to go HARD on the edits, with ZERO limitations. Seriously, go absolutely crazy. Add wings, add companions, add full tack sets, add insanely complicated mane/tail edits, change their whole body shape, give them a billion horns and spikes, mountains of fluff, add prosthetics or robotics, truly whatever your little heart desires.

Markings still need to be common/uncommon/rare tiers, no seasonals/limiteds, but beyond that the sky is really the limit for their design. Please include homo/hetero for markings that change depending on dominance, such as black agama Agag vs red agama AgAg - otherwise, it will be artist's choice. If you would like or would not like a marking to be affected by interacting genes, such as turning hyena cream on double cream bases, include this in 'additional notes' as well.

Be sure that any images you use to depict your desired edits or markings are credited properly and CS appropriate, and of course make sure that this design is completely unique (no character theft please). If you need any assistance building your custom then please hop onto our discord and pop your questions into the ask-the-staff channel, we would be more than happy to help.

The winner will be randomly chosen via raffle, and as long as enough people with valid forms apply, we will have a few runner-ups awarded simplified versions of their custom designs as well!

A sweet Journee descendent ;v;

Range Trotters are the result of crossbreeding Orlov Trotters, Finnhorses, Welsh Cobs (section C & D) and Hanoverians. Later crosses of Quarter Horses, Paint and Appaloosas to gain color and to give a boost to their hardiness. With a height average of 13-15 hands, they're a hardy breed with characteristics for various disciplines.

Created for use as work, carriage and leisure riding horses originally, they now serve as long-distance range horses, such as work with Park Rangers and mounted officers.

Willing and eager personalities, most are quickly trained to be bombproof and therefore trusted mounts in all lines of work; some are being seen in local show jumping competitions, others are notably used in therapeutic sessions for their calm temperaments. Harness races and endurance trials are common for the breed, as they are able to sustain an extended trot without tire. Cross-Country competitions see some of the taller Trotters, but due to their cob lineage this is still uncommon.

Despite the variety of competitions and work these horses are being seen in, they are still famously skilled as endurance racers. Many competitors have chosen Range Trotters due to their tireless work ethic, as well as the ease in which they can be trained. Many have become champions in endurance trials, and they have quickly become a sought after breed for their natural ability.

Hmm... This Trotter looks like they almost have a map of some islands as markings.
Where does their map lead? Treasure? A hidden oasis? The fountain of youth?

Golden's treasure map leads to.. a completely secret, tucked away, beautiful island cove with her herd of other mermay trotters! There, there are a wide variety of caves, and the trotters spend their days sunbathing, galloping on the warm sand beaches, and grazing on the lush grass in flowery fields.
They have kept their location so tucked away to preserve the beauty of their natural habitat, and so the foals can grow up knowing a life of peace and tranquility, undisturbed by predators or curious humans. Occasionally, Golden will swim away from the cove and wander the mainland. If you're lucky enough to find her and figure out where 'x marks the spot' leads to.. you may just be able to find her wonderful herd in the most beautiful place.

Introducing Triggerfish (Trf_)! This marking gives the belly spots like those found on Clown Triggerfish! Spots can only ever be white and do not extend past the chest. Spots can be any number of sizes all mixed together, but are most commonly seen with the bulk being larger.
Homozygous expressions can show spots of the base within the circles, such as seen here.
Heterozygous expressions will only ever have solid spots.

This trotter shows maximum coverage of this marking: last half of the underside of the neck, down the chest and belly, and extending minimally down the insides of the legs.

This non-stripey trotter doesn't stand a chance of escaping these pirates with their love of striped clothing. To win this trotter, show me the disguise this trotter should wear in order to flee unnoticed! Remember to provide credit for photos.

Now, trapped on the pirates' boat, she has no friends to talk to and can't dive into the darker sea like she used to.

You've managed to sneak your way onto the pirate ship, cleverly disguised and have blended yourself in with the rest of the crew. Everything was going according to plan, you were to begin your rescue attempt at nightfall when the excitement from a successful round-up had died down. Spending most of the night undetected, it wasn't until you'd bumped into Old Long Johnson (one of the larger, burlier men on the ship) and he eyed you skeptically before speaking in a low, gruff voice; "What's that? Yer not a familiar face... who are ye?"
Crap. Time for a distraction.
Pirates like songs, right?!
Full of determination and harrowing fear of being found out, you heartily laugh and begin bellowing out a shanty!
Confused, and maybe a little drunk, Johnson looks around at his fellow crewmates as they eagerly join you...
Which song did you sing?
(Please keep it CS-appropriate!)

This Trotter is pretty much convinced that they're the pirate in this scenario.
They won't leave until you recognize that, so you'll have to find some way to humor them.
Maybe by making them a wanted poster?

I was trying to come up with a fishy pun that'd make a good boat name, and I think The Codfather would work so well - just imagine it! That'd be a ship nobody would want to mess with for sure, LOL. So that's how I chose this trotter's show name.

In The Godfather, the family patriarch is named Don Vito Corleone - in other words, he's the guy that's also known as the Godfather. I thought it'd be funny to make this trotter's barn name a matching pun, so I changed the character's last name to be fishy!

Writing: Miles has a new-found project it seems. The other day, he approached me with a small shovel in paw and a bucket over his head as a helmet declaring "MAKE WAY! This is now an excavation site!"
So of course I had to ask just what he was doing. He eagerly told me about his new "scientific venture", and how he was going to dig up soil samples and test them for "strange and abnormal tastes". I gently reminded him not to eat dirt, and asked him why he felt this was neccessary.
Apparently, Shirl had mentioned that there was something different about the grass and soil... something "strange, unusual and new." I'm not sure what that means, but that Sprigon always seemed to have a sixth sense for these kinds of things. And if Miles was invested in this investigation, someone would need to make sure he didn't get carried away.
So this week Miles and I are going to do a little digging together. I even bought a few new "scientific" tools for us to play with. Even if nothing comes out of it, I know Miles will have a good time. He has invited some of the other yard critters to join him. So I'm about to have my hands full this week...
