anthro redline based on this drawing by Emø Rat
by LoyonMaules @ Fri Aug 23, 2019 12:37 am [Reply]

ok so some important factors that are needed when drawing a anthro/humanoid

gender
build
weight
height
species
and personality

all will affect the way they look/move

people usually dont stand straight with their knees locked, how they casually stand will depend on their mood and personality
for instance, someone tired will slouch and maybe rub their eyes or someone shy might bring their shoulders in ward and cross their arms

weight and height will also affect it

they way you want to draw anthros will also play a role because there are many different ways to draw them

id say look at pictures of real people and go from there

Emø Rat @ Fri Aug 23, 2019 5:12 am

Ty! this will be much helpful

he is magician. he truly thinks magic is fake though.
but his inside power will prove that wrong

husky mix
anthro, just sitting weird
bun friend

could I maybe get a merle corgi who is very energetic and

Character for LoyonMaules based on this drawing by LoyonMaules
by Tree. @ Wed Aug 21, 2019 6:17 pm [Reply]

Sharks are cool
Dont think I would have been able to design him correctly on Oekaki so thats why I drew him off-site.
and another guy with long hair, I dunno man, guess I got a thing for dudes with long hair.
His bottom half is supposed to be a tiger shark, not sure how obvious that is.

I like:
Male characters
Dark colors
Edgy/emo things
Wings
Mythical things
Uhh, more of my liked characters and stuff here, they can probably give you a good idea of what I like.
Though, right now Im looking for more human/humanoid characters.

Ears based on this drawing by Lotus373
by LoyonMaules @ Fri Aug 23, 2019 12:25 am [Reply]

heres some animal ears!

ok so some advice

canine ears tend to be big, floppy and fluffy while feline ears tend to be small and not very floppy at all

things with hooves tend to have oval-shaped ears

bog cats usually have round ears excluding a few

i draw cat ears usually sharp while i draw dog ears generally round at the tip

canines usually have longer ears then cats

use refrences!!

How to draw birds based on this drawing by Pokeykat1
by Ki-Mono @ Thu Aug 22, 2019 5:23 am [Reply]

Doing research on drawing birds is hard simply because there are so many different types of birds that come in all shapes and sizes. Their wings, necks, body shapes, and beaks can greatly differ from bird to bird. So I recommend studying different kinds of birds and what is the same about them and what is different.

For this drawing I went with a simple canary for the standing pose. I actually don't know what type of bird I used for the top down drawing, but it seems very similar. I am not good at birds at all, so you'll have to forgive my lack of knowledge when it comes to random bird facts and tips. On the bright side, I do love to draw wings.

When it comes to drawing wings, both the anatomy and feathers can be separated into 3 sections.
Wings aren't just all feathers and actually have a skeleton that runs through it. Wings are a bird's arms and "hands". And are actually quite similar to ours. For a visual, I drew one up for you, but you can also check out the ref I used for it here. There is the upper arm (the part that attaches to the shoulder), the forearm, and then the "hand". They bend in the similar ways as our arms as well, usually just in more extremes. One thing to be aware of is that the size of each of these parts are greatly different from bird to bird. So be sure to look up references of what kind you want to draw beforehand. A general tip is that the upper arm is usually shorter then the forearm (unlike with humans where it's usually equal). It's hard to describe their "hands", but visualize yourself about to give someone a handshake; From that angle, a bird can bend their "hand" all the way down to the point it folds in on its self. You, most likely, can't bend your hand down very far in that position.

Once you have the basic shape, now it's time to put feathers on it. feathers can also be sectioned off into 3 parts. The 'top" feathers are covering over the actual skeleton part, and are usually small a layered. The "bottom" feathers are usually quite long, and don't have bones running through them. These feathers are strictly for flight, and are the parts that are clipped by those who do not want their pet bird flying away. The last part is the "connecting" section. I personally don't know how to describe this part very well, but it extends over both top and bottom parts and is generally where the shoulder is located. These feathers are usually very small, and I wouldn't bother drawing them individually.
I'm not gonna attempt to explain how feathers fold into each other, so here's a simple gif showing it.

Some other general anatomy:
The eyes of a bird are always on the sides of the head, expect for birds like owls; which on on the front (like ours).
Necks are usually not very defined simply because of all the feather fluff around them. So the body and the head usually just kinda, meld into each other. Exceptions would be birds like cranes.
On a birds feet the legs always bend backwards (the opposite of ours). On most birds, half of the leg is hidden away under feather fluff, while on others (like flamingos) have long legs that show both halves.
All birds have tail feathers, simply because without them they couldn't steer their bodies when they flew. The size and length of these tails differ from bird to bird, so look at references before drawing them. They also spread out and fold in on themselves, just like the arm feathers. However, this is usually less noticeable.

I hope I covered everything and this is helpful. I personally don't know a lot about birds, so if any information I give here is incorrect, please correct me!! Everything written here is based off observations made while looking at references for the drawing. My actual knowledge of bird anatomy is little.

Normally I would send this in PM, but I don't see the option on your account.
Huge over-sight on my part, but I forgot to remind people to actually make sure I'm allowed to edit/color-in your art lol. I literally can't do anything right now. Can you please make the change, and I'll get right on it!

okay okay so theres a lot going on in this picture.
to put it in perspective, i work on a laptop at my desk. my desk is in-between a side-table and a bookcase and sits in front of my window.

that said:

Screenshot_73.png

what do we see wrote:
      1. big o'l second hand office chair. very squishy many levers, has a tear in the front of the cushion that i stitched together. sits crooked but i have no clue why.
      2. my computer, a 17" hp computer, its about 3ish years old now? its still running fine but the screen has a purple spot in the bottom corner if i leave it open all night sometimes. has a chickensmoothie sticker on the bottom right of the lower half, and a vinyl on the back that says "no fox given" in the silhouette of a fox. very good computer
      3. Wacom intuos Bluetooth small graphictablet, its Bluetooth but i still use the wire cause its more responsive, and also its the pistachio colored one. i normally leave my pen on the top of my desk, and the tablet on the pull out level of the desk.
      4. second monitor, its slightly a different color then my laptop monitor and i cant fix it to be the same for some reason. its old, dell, very old, got it from my mom who had it as a "kids computer" monitor if that can help explain anything. its got a soundbar and works perfectly fine! its nice for reference pull-ups
      5. my window has a suction-cup cat shelf, Chloe loves it, i love her, enough said.
      6. panda bear coinbank, it's product name is like "Golden Boy Japanese Bear Fruity Jelly Cup" if you wanna google what it looks like. i didnt like the jellies it came with so i threw them away/gave them to friends to see their reaction, but it hold my pennies so it stays
      7. two mannequin figures, i have the off-brand body-kun and body-chan i got off amazon, they work fine except the man's arm falls out sometimes. i dont use them often since i dont draw humans, but i do like posing them in funny ways.
      8. bunch of junk, consists of a candle (caramel pecan scented, has a heart shape in the wax and i thought it smelt good and was cute), a wedding décor (my dad and stepmom recently marriaged) two cants of green beans, a sideways ice-cream bowl squishy, a drawing pad, and a few large rocks. one of the rocks has one of those wire-scalp massage things on it.
      9. a shelf of mangas and a couple of books. most of it is mangas though. i also have this book thats literally uncensored Japanese slang and its fun to read. also theres a candle up there. i wouldn't ever light it, one cause its on a book shelf, two because its a citronella candle (the kind that keep mosquitos away) so it would be gross anyways. but i got it a while back and have been waiting to go camping to use it.
      10. my not-fox stuffed animals, the ones there are a stitch plush, and owl, a big-eyed bat, a flamingo, and a dog, but i have a bunch more. most are old ty babies that i grew up with ^u^
      11. a shelf of my fox stuffed animals, i love foxes, but through my families eyes i am obsessed with foxes. so i have a whole shelf dedicated to the fox plushies they happen to gift me over the years- but im not complaining theyre adorable
      12. the shelf has a box of my old drawing pads. i dont want to get rid of these cause i really like them. they wont be gotten rid of any time soon- even if its all my really really bad drawings.
      13. a trash bin and some boxes of drinks. i have Arizona sweet tea cans everywhere but the picture was crowded already. i also have a box of yoohoo cans (cause i didnt know they came in cans) so yum tasty
      14. my Wish fox hoodie. my mom got it for me because my fam thinks im obsessed with foxes, but its just barely too small. so i leave it on the corner of my book case cause its cute. on the other corner (not visible here) i have a AoT cape >v>
      15. drawer, has pens, pencils, squishies, an extra pair of headphones, my 3dsXL case, a couple of magic cards, a box of thumb tacks, that sorta stuff
      16. drawer, cat treats drawer. chole know of this drawer and is very happy when she sees me open it.
      17. drawer, band aids, cold medicine, my label maker, all my scented oils (cause i cant do perfume) and another candle- this one is rootbeer and i dont lite it cause it makes the whole back of the house smell like rootbeer.
      18. cupboard, has my "collection" of alcohol in it, i am of age i my area i promise you, has a couple of flavored vodkas, some irish cream, some random shot bottles i got to try, and some hard cider i realized i hated.
      19. fedora, my late grandfathers, i wear it very often i love it so much ;v;

if you have any questions about what is what just ask >v>
