What is 'Petz?'

Petz is a series of PC games (Catz/Dogz versions 1 - 5) first released in 1995; the most recent version in this series being Petz 5 which was produced in 2002.

The game hasn't changed too much from the first two versions, except that versions 3 - 5 include the ability to 'breed' petz, and those 3 versions are the most popular among Petz players today.

Petz games are mostly popular among internet users to breed petz for each other (creating 'petz adoptions') or using hex editors to create their own Petz breeds (referred to as 'hexing')

Although the game is old, there is still a massive fan base on the internet, and it is this Petz Community that makes the game fun.

Q. What is Petz?

A. Petz is a PC game which was released many years ago by a few different companies, most recently Ubi Soft Entertainment. The official website has been replaced with their new generation Petz games so the best information you will find is on wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Petz

Q. Where can I get the game?

A. As the Petz series that this site supports is quite an old game, it can be hard to find in stores. Be aware that there are new games released called 'Dogz'/'Catz' 1 or 2, but they are NOT the same as the old games 'Dogz'/'Catz'. The only useful versions of the old game are Catz or Dogz version 3, 4 or 5. You can pick these up on online stores such as Amazon or online auctions such as Ebay, if you can't find them in stores near you.

Q. Can you please update/fix/create a certain breedfile?

A. No. Most of the websites' breeds were hexed by Manda - the websites old co-owner. She has since left the petz community and is not an active member of the website. She is not accepting any correspondence about her breeds and I assume she will never be updating them. I can't remember how to hex so I likely won't be updating anything either.

Q. How do I get the toys to show up in my game?

Q. Will you host my breedfiles?

A. Most likely yes, please email me your website address and tell me if you want the breeds on a seperate page on my site or just a link to your website from my breeds page, with the actual files hosted here. All I ask is a link back here somewhere on your site. Contact me for more information. If you've been in contact with me, I may still take a couple of weeks to get around to putting up your files :( be patient. 

Q. Why won't you accept the petz I offered you? 

A. I haven't played Petz since 2005, I only open the game to breed new litters for you guys. I don't adopt new petz unless I need new breeding stock. Very sweet of you to offer, though :3
