Aquirlings are a descendant of the dire wolf, know for their very large size, these creatures flourished up in the north pole region and Antarctica region. they soon became the most dominant and dangerous predator of the globe. but as global warming began to affect the entire earth, these large wolves were driven either north or south depending on their region. they spread out in groups and found each one on a different area of the planet, such as Africa, South America, Canada and Alaska, Europe, and many other areas. but with their thick coats, they had to shed to a thinner coats. but as they did the Aquirlings began to mutate some of their body parts look like some of the animals in their region. they grew different sets of horns and some grew different tails, their ears gained tufts for better hearing and they got vertical pupils with better night vision. some even grew wings or fins depending on their area to adapt to changing conditions. by 2014 after spending years in hiding they were finally discovered in Tofino british columbia. the first to be discovered was the water aquirling and they were given the name in honour of "aqua" another name for water. by 2016 they were deemed tamable and were now being adopted out to deserving owners.

guidelines

✘Aquirlings are a closed species, if anyone other than artists, guest artists or ghost artists are caught making their own Aquirling will either result in a warning or ban
✘ Selling or purchasing Aquirlings for any type of payment, be it art, currency, or anything besides another Aquirling, is prohibited. though re-homings are allowed if you post them in the fanclub
✘ An Aquirling may not be your fursona unless you are the creator of the species or have proof of permission from myself Canuck_kid.
✘ You may not edit your Aquirling's lines (including mane, tail, mutations, or any colors)
✘ No begging, spamming or complaining on this thread or towards artists or other owners, this may result in a warning

✓ Trading of Aquirlings for Aquirlings or gifting Aquirlings is allowed when following these guidelines. A user must own an Aquirngs for a minimum 2 weeks before they are allowed to trade it and may only put one Aquirling up for trade per month. You must notify the archivist about the trade or gift.
✓ you may roleplay your Aquirlings
✓ All posted contest art must be given to the winner unless otherwise specified.
✓ please pm the archivist of any transferring of any Aquirlings
✓ Please message me if you have any complaints or concerns instead of posting them here ✓ ✓

Customs

- all staff are able to get an uncommon to rare custom done every 3 months, not including ones they get as gifts or RU's
- for a semi-custom, you tell the artist what element you're looking for and a design you'd like it to be based off of, everything else is done by the artist.
- for a custom, you can show a design you made that you'd like put onto the lines or you can supply a detailed description of what mutations and colours you'd like.
- customs can be given out via streams or contests or by comp points.
- if there are competition customs done yet the user doesn't have enough points for it after it being already made the aquirling will be put up for a raffle.

Mates

- Aquirlings can be of any romantic, sexuality or gender but stem cell breedings are harder to have success with only 80% success rate
- female Aquirlings can have a fertility of between 65% and 95%
- breeding season is between April and November, which is when most artists are open for breedings though they can breed all year round
- Incestuous relationships and relationships involving pups with adults are not allowed.
- Aquirlings can breed with any other aquirling as long as the other own sends a permission quote to condone it.
- when an owner acquires a new aquirling they must wait a week before breeding it, same goes for growing, a pup will be transferred to adult lines after this time.
- owners may not pm artists in a chance to get breedings
- Aquirlings can only breed 10 times in their life time, though twins is a rarity that is the highest amount of pups.
- pups are born without spikes, or manes and their horns at just simple nubs until adulthood
- aquirlings can have mates and it's more accepted if breedings are between mates but some breeding artists have different rules
- you cannot have more than one breeding within two weeks

* Aquirlings have been studied all over the world, a different aquirling for each area until they were dubbed tameable.
* there is the rare occurrence that an Aquirlings may not have many mutations and might appear as a large wolf.
* The first Aquirlings were discovered in Tofino, British Columbia in the year 2014.

Diet

Aquirlings are omnivores, meaning they can eat plants and meat, though they prefer meat as their first choice. Depending on their region aquirlings usually hunt fish, deer of any variety, hare, rodents, antelope, and occasionally farm animals such as pigs, goats, cows and the rare horse. Though they can hunt other canines or felines that are wild.
Though they prefer meat of any kind, aquirlings are also found eating berries and nuts and grass when food is scarce.
