I think chimp forms are completely fine. I mean, you could really generalize traits about humans, too. We're intelligent, great with tools, inventive, social, omnivorous, ground dwelling... Sure, some people may be smarter or more into interaction than others, but that can be said for any species.

On a completely different note, could someone please explain to me the concept of headmates? I've looked all around, but I can't seem to find a solid explanation of what they are.

A daemon can be anything i.e. people can project/visualize their imaginary friend as anything they want [animal, mythical creature, fictional creature, real person, plant, inanimate object, whatever else]. It's the personality "form" that the community tends to apply "viability" restrictions to e.g. "has to be a real animal".

You can, yeah, but there's no point. It's a redundant metaphor. The whole point of settled forms is to provide a metaphorical representation of your personality and humans don't really fit that so well.

Hi, can I ask a question. I was wondering what is the difference between a Daemon and a Spirit animal. Because as of my understandings, they are two different things. I have heard that both are supposed to represent your soul, or personality, but not too sure. I have tried to go on the Daemon Noodle link that is all over the first few posts, but the site says it is being edited or something. Are either your Daemon or spirit animal like your unconscious mind? The reason why is that I would like to find my Spirit animal or Daemon, but I think it would be good to know a difference before I start trying.

I have seen the golden compass, and actually never knew that those animals in there where 'real' till reading the first post a few moments ago. (might just go re-watch it tonight....) But are Daemons like a reflection of you (based on the movie) and is it true that they change till you get to a certain age? Because if that is true, I am not over the age 15 yet I can say (not giving away real age, sorry).

Thanks for your time and all responses helpful. :)
Thank you very much!

Yea, I'm greatly confused too. I know I just sort of popped in now, but I'd like to know what the difference is. I have an SA; it's a tarantula named Teenka; but aren't daemons just your imaginary friend, but they're just like you, or something?

    Take a melody.
    Simple as can be.
    Give it some words,
    And sweet harmony.
    Raise your voices,
    All day long now,
    Love grows strong now.
    Sing a melody of love,
    Oh, love~

Based on the current definition, a daemon is your imaginary friend, yep. You could think of them as shapechangers of sorts; you can imagine them as any animal you want to imagine them as, regardless of your age. Your daemon/imaginary friend might have a similar personality to you, but doesn't necessarily have to. I think you might be getting that confused with the personality typing aspect of daemonism as we practice it-- as a personality typing system, your "form" is whatever animal's behavior most closely matches your personality. And as you age, your personality naturally changes less and less (it's a fact! C: ) and therefore whatever animal most closely matches your personality changes less and less, and that's what "settled" is, once you hit that age where you're not changing a whole lot anymore (it's usually in your 20s from what I understand). It's not that your imaginary friend can't change shape unless you want it to be that way, since your imaginary friend is by definition only bound by your brain.

I'm not overly familiar with spirit animals, though, so I can't comment on in what ways the above might be different from them. Sorry! I hope this made sense/helped clear things up anyways. :3

Thank you! :3 A Spirit animal is supposed to be what your soul animal is or something, and cannot shape-shift/change unless your personality changes. They're basically the opposite of you, and should not represent you in personality. Everything else should, form what I understand. xD

Sorry, that's off topic. Thank you again. Maybe I dwell deeper into this daemon stuff. (I do hear this random voice in my head telling me to turn my music down, pay attention in class, scolding me, etc. xD And I often get this random image of a brown crocodile of some sort.

I look further into this. ;3

Kheisa ninja'd me and explained it better and shorter than I ever could. I'll pick on spirit animals and totems.

Spirit animals I don't know much about. I know totems which I think are different in some aspects. Totems pick you, you don't pick or create them. You can call out to a totem to ask for assistance but you can't just will a totem into existence. Totems typically represent something you need to learn instead of something that you are strong at. Example: I am bad at finding healthy outlets for negative feelings. Kookaburra approached me to help me learn how to better express negative emotions. Your animal may not be one you like. You may want a wolf because they're your favoritest animal ever but you get a bone-eating snot flower totem or something. It all depends on what you need, not what you want.

I'd go off CS to do research on spirit animals and totems. You will get so much misleading and blatantly false information on CS.

Once you're born, your SA is set... it doesn't change. But rest of the info you've given is accurate. c:
