The first egg of Brave and Nautica's clutch has hatched! This Salemandre seems to thrive both in and out of water.

Royal is one of two eggs laid in a clutch between his parents Brave and Nautica. While most Salemandres tend to not like humans, Royal actually goes out of his way to help them. Because his mother Nautica laid his egg in the north, Royal's territory is Alaska and the lands nearby. This is a very good feeding ground for him, because the area has decent amount of natural magic, arguably because of its proximity to the Northern Lights.
Most often, Royal can be found in any blizzard-like conditions, wandering about looking for people lost in the snow or at risk for hypothermia. After waiting for the disaster victims to safely pass out or begins to hallucinate, he carries them to the nearest human village and drops them off on the doorstep of the doctor. Royal has only bonded to one human- a teenager named Ian who was separated from his group on a camping trip and then stranded for days without help.
Royal was hesitant to share his blood, but after much debate and the boy showing an act of mercy, Royal stepped forward and gave the boy his blood. Ian now is impervious to cold of any degree, and though he can claim Royal as his, Ian respects his rescuer too much and doesn't keep him as a familiar. Instead, he occasionally treks off in to the woods to find the Salemandre, bring him his favorite foods, and discuss what is happening in the world.
