Back in the early CS days, you had to buy different items to fit the different linearts of dogs. Like the different ears. Eventually they made the ten interchangeable, but that’s pretty much how t started

Oh, now I understand! So they’re simply items that only work on one variation of a pet? (Ex: only flop eared dogs, not straight?)

Yes! The borked version usually has a different code-thing (forget what it was called oops, I think Item iD) and Otis usually only 1 off from the original ID for the non borked version
