Most of these are pretty close / correct, but here are a few corrections~

    egg is たまご, not たまぎ
    hello is こんにちは, not こうにちわ
thank you is ありがとう, not ありがと
good luck (directly translates to "try your best") がんばって

Hey guys! I have another question. What does this Kanji say?

天音

I know it's supposed to say Heavenly sound or something like that, but how do you say it? Isn't there two different ways to say every Kanji?

So the Romaji would be Amane? Why did you put desu, if I may ask?

Edit: never mind, I just figured it out

Edit 2: what is the other reading?

Edit 2: what is the other reading?

Most kanji do have multiple readings - these are called "kunyomi" (native Japanese readings) and "onyomi" (Chinese readings). For example, the kanji has the kunyomi やま and the onyomi サン. While these are technically two correct readings, neither can be used for all contexts. Using the example above, one might say "あのやまは綺麗です。" (ano yama wa kirei desu - that mountain is beautiful) or "ふじさんは綺麗です。" (fujisan wa kirei desu - mount fuji is beautiful) but not "あのさんは綺麗です。" (ano san wa kirei desu) or "ふじやまは綺麗です。" (fujiyama wa kirei desu) due to the usage of the kanji. Generally kunyomi is used for standalone kanji while onyomi is used when a kanji is part of a bigger word, but this not always the case - for 天音, kunyomi for both kanji is used (あまつ and ).

tldr; there's only one correct reading of
    天音, which is あまね.

Native speakers, please do correct me on anything I may have made a mistake on, I'm still a relative beginning speaker!

Memorization, mostly. As you learn a kanji and its meaning, you also learn the pronunciation(s) and the contexts those pronunciations are used. I'm not really sure how to give more specific tips than that to help you, but whatever method works for you for learning things such as hiragana/katakana or other characters will probably work for learning kanji as well.

Hmm. OK. May I ask what method you used to learn? Books, sites, a friend, etc?

I take Japanese as a course in school so I don't know how well these methods apply to you, but I find that for me the best activities are ones where we have a chart of that lesson's kanji, our sensei calls out the pronunciation, and we have to tap it on the chart as quickly as possible. Reading aloud sentences that contain kanji in various contexts also definitely helps you get used to reading a particular character's various pronunciation(s) and when they're used. Flashcards would also probably be very useful, I can imagine!

For meaning specifically, it can be very useful to talk to anyone you know who might speak Japanese or even Chinese. I have a friend who speaks near-fluent Mandarin who, while he can't help me much with pronunciation, is very useful to talk to if I'm confused about meaning since many if not all kanji have the same or very similar meanings in Japanese as the corresponding Chinese characters.

Yes, I think that method would work, but I’m not sure as I didn’t learn it this way.
I used to live in Japan and learnt them at school, so I don’t really know how that might work (English is my second language; Japanese is my first language)

I am a fluent Japanese speaker so I might be able to help you a bit!!
