I HAVE A QUESTION!
TYPE OF QUESTION:science
YOUR QUESTION:
In my science class we have to do a project on two historical earthquakes and we have to include benefits from the earthquakes. I was wondering if someone could please explain the benefits of earthquakes? I am hoping to understand in what ways an earthquake can be beneficial. I only want a general concept though so that I can get ideas on what to research for the two earthquakes I choose.

Earthquakes can expose weaknesses in architectural integrity. For example, the 1989 San Francisco earthquake destroyed a section of the city that was built on debris from the 1906 earthquake. Now we know that houses built in that district need much more reinforcing or just don't build there at all.

@Lady fate
So, consecutive numbers are numbers that are next to each other on a number line, 1, 2, 3 for example, ir 45, 46, 47, or -1,0,1. The sum of numbers in the result of them being added together, so which of the sets for questions 1, 2, and 4 follows these rules to get the number you want?

For the rectangular prism problem, you have to move the terms around. You're working with variables so that tends to keep things neater which is fortunate. You're trying to isolate a single variable (which becomes super important for later maths). To start, locate the variable you want, in this case P. Since P is multiplied to something, we want to try and keep the term that P is part of isolated on its side of the equals sign. Remeber, what you do to one side of the equals sign you must always do to the other. In order to cancel out the 2B thats on P's side of the equation, we need to add something to both sides of the equation that will cancel that out. Its added on. How would one make a 0+1 equal to 0? The answer is the same here. Once that's done there should only be the term PH left on P's side. We have to apply another function to both sides of the equation again so that this time the H cancels out on P's side. In cases like this we divide by the term we want to get rid of. If a term exists in the same form in both the numerator and the demoninatoer, it cancels.

For the last one, try taking what is said and making it into an equation. Since there's an unknown number, put x in as its substitute. Once thats done, just solve for x :) feel free to PM me with any more questions

think of things that are damaged during the earthquake. buildings and such are one certain thing. what if the buildings are pretty dilapidated before the quake, and fall down during it? then you can rebuild them better! this can go for any man made items in a setting where people live.

earthquakes also help improve the knowledge of geologists in many ways, so im sure you can find a LOT to research based on that! if you need anymore help feel free to PM me, im taking a college geology course in hs.

I HAVE A QUESTION!
TYPE OF QUESTION: math
YOUR QUESTION: determine all possible values of k so that the quadratic below has one zero.
x^2 + (k-5)x + (4-5k) = 0

the answers are k= - 1and k= - 9. If anyone could help, I'd greatly appreciate it!!

    Have you worked with the quadratic formula? It's useful for quickly determining the number of zeros.
    If the discriminant, b^2-4ac is 0, the function has one real zero. (If it's positive, two zeros; if negative, the function doesn't cross the x-axis.)
    In your equation, a, or the leading coefficient of x^2, is 1. Therefore, b^2-4c=0 must be true.
    b = (k-5)x
    c = (4-5k)
    Insert these, and you get ((k-5)x)^2-4(4-5k)=0
    Expand, simplify, into k^2+10x+9=0, then factor into (k+1)(k+9)=0
    k = -1, k = -9.

    I think there are a couple of other ways, but... here you go. ^^ Hope it helped!
