I actually would recommend this app, too. Very highly, actually. I can now do multiple full sentences after studying just a day!

It asks what speed you'd like and I put 10 minutes or so a day... I'm on a good hour+ a day, it is that fun!

I started using Duolingo a week ago, for Spanish. I'm amazed at how much I have learned in just 7 days. I already know 300+ words!

This site is amazing, right? I wanted to learn French, so I googled "Learn French Free" and it came up. The ads don' even bother me :) but I do have to say that it suddenly became really difficult after a while...

I love Duolingo! It has helped me a lot with my Spanish even though I have completed the tree and I'm still far away from being fluent. I can now actually read some text in Spanish and understand most of it!

Also, reverse trees help alot. After I completed the Spanish for English speakers tree, I also did the English for Spanish speakers tree. I'm having a hard time keeping it golden though...

You can add me, my username is Cethlyn and I currently have a 225 day streak!
Just so you know, Cethlyn isn't my real name, and in fact my real name isn't even similar. I've also seen other people use the same (user)name on the other sites, one is even also from Estonia (I'm Estonian) :)

I’m using Duolingo to learn both Spanish and Russian. I know enough Spanish now to pick out words and I’ve kind of moved on to Russian until my muse for Spanish is back lol

I never changed my user from what it gave me but it’s aiden706167, feel free to add me!

I'd recommend this to everyone, I don't think you can be fluent only by using this app but it can help you tremendously. Seriously try it out ;')

Feel free to add me katherine197

And lastly, if you're already learning -Spanish or Portuguese- definitely try the Stories (you can find them in the labs' section) and it's like the best thing ever, I looove it.
It lets you listen to a story while seeing the words on the screen and meanwhile gives you exercises connected to the plot. Naturally, you gain experience points from this as well.

duolingo is suuuper convenient for people who dont have a lot of time to dedicate to studying on most days but still want to learn!
that being said, if youre using it for korean or japanese, i would HIGHLY recommend thinking of it as more of a supplementary tool instead of the only way you learn. ive already encountered some weird glitches with the korean unit, and its not quite perfect grammar wise. if you just want to know enough to order from restaurants or be able to have very basic conversations then duo is great, but if your goal is fluency you should make use of other resources too!

(i only have experience with the korean course and ive heard from other people about japanese, but this probably goes for other languages as well!)

I already study both spanish and korean outside of it however duolingo is a great supplementary tool. In particular it's helped with my general spanish vocabulary. The korean course can be a little peculiar sometimes, however the web version provides good details concerning grammar.
