✦ Artist Rules

Artists: A custom is a special Raj, and thus, shouldn't be more common than adopts. Please open sparingly, and watch other artists to make sure there aren't a flood of openings. Bring any concerns to myself or HowlingHooves privately, even if they concern us. You are a valued member of the team and we want you to be open with us.
You may make your own customs, so long as you don't overstep your 3 count limit.
Please do not reserve posts on this thread. Only post when you have one ready.

✧ Custom Limits

Remember to keep track of your custom limits! Normal adopt members have two slots per month, while staff have three per month. There are consequences for going over your limit. Any offending Raj will be revoked, edits removed, and placed up for adoption. You may not try out for this Raj, and will receive a warning from the administration team. The artist will get dirty glares for letting it slip, but ultimately, it isn't their job to keep track of these numbers. That rests on the individual user.

✦ Artist Openings

If an artist decides to open custom slots in their post, feel free to copy their form and submit accordingly, including the PMing of hooves to use a custom order item. Keep your custom limit in mind, and follow the artist's individual rules. Should a form not comply, they have the right to send it back for improvement or deny it. If you have concerns over the time it is taking for a custom to be completed, come to administration or myself, not the artist.

✧ Prize Customs

Customs acting as prizes ranging from the interactive to events do not count towards your limit. If you win a custom from a certain artist, you may only order it from that artist. There is no transferring unless otherwise stated. Follow any given guidelines, and PM appropriately. These slots cannot be gifted/transferred, or donated on the trade thread.

✦ Gifting

Due to custom limits and uncertain intentions, we do not allow you to fill out standard forms for another user. However, any custom given as a prize may be submitted as a gift. The slot itself cannot be gifted, but the owner may fill it out with another username and in this way transfer the slot.

✧ Purchasing Customs

Additional custom slots may be purchased from the trading thread, where they have been donated. For all adopt artists, paid customs should be infrequent, but can occur. Artists must have a post on here to open these, just as for regular customs. Ordering one will not use up a custom slot, but you may only order one paid custom a month.

✦ Order Form Items

In order to submit a form for a custom, you must have the appropriate items. This rule is perhaps the most important, and as such will invoke the most penalty if broken. You must be in possession of the correct order form item from the item hub, and you absolutely must inform HowlingHooves of item usage. This includes other items, such as edits and genetic markers.

This information is necessary for both artists and adopters alike, please read if you’re not sure what to do!

So, the big question: How do I order a custom?
Well, let’s take this step-by-step.

Step one, head on over to the kion bank and item hub. If you scroll down to the item hub portion of this, you’ll see the last red header says ‘Custom Form Items.’ There are four types, we’ll get into that later. You must own one of these custom form items in order to place a custom order with an artist. So if you don’t have one, go ahead and purchase one. You can check in your personal bank to see if you have any.

Step two, check your custom limit! We’d hate for you to go over it, because you lose any exceeding custom, and receive a warning, which is no fun. Normal adopters have two custom slots per month, and staff have three. There will be opportunity to purchase further slots, but as of yet, the method remains unestablished. Furthermore, you may only purchase one paid custom per month, meaning paying the artist with c$ or pets. So artists, remember to keep the paid customs infrequent! If free customs are never opened, people won’t be able to use their order items.

Step three, as you’re perusing the customs thread, make sure the artist you’re ordering from is open. Now, read all of their personal rules. Just as it’s important to follow all general custom rules, it’s respectful and necessary to follow individual rules, lest your form be denied. While you’re here, check out what each artist says they can and cannot complete for you. Do they take item edits, and what type of customs are they open to accepting right now?

Step four, copy that form and send it out. Indicate that you have the necessary custom order form in your bank to the artist. Then, head back over to the item hub and let Hooves know that you have used your item (this is a very important step!!). Artists, whether you are told they have one or not, check their bank account to see if they have the correct item. If it’s not there, PM Hooves to see what’s up, or you have the right to deny the custom. If a custom is posted, and no order item was used, the raj will be revoked and warnings will be issued. If the custom is posted and Hooves was not informed of the intended item use (be it the order form, edits, etc), you will be unable to purchase any items from the item hub for a respective period of time.

Step five, your items are removed from your bank, your custom slot is used, and the artist makes your custom. Afterwards, remember to name it!! Unclaimed raj are viable to be taken back and adopted out. Do not ask your artist when your custom will be made if it’s been a while, ask administration or myself.

Additional Info: Yes, a custom order item is necessary for every custom you order. Don’t worry if you’re struggling to earn enough kion, there are several opportunities to earn or win one. They are also needed for both free and paid customs. Artists, remember that while paid customs are allowed, they are infrequent, and should not be opened until after you open several free rounds.

Self-Customs: Obviously, this paragraph is for artists, so please pay attention if that’s you! You are not exempt from item usage, should you wish to add any to your custom. However, so long as you meet the requirements for adopts made, you do not need a custom order form. You are allowed to make yourself a custom within your custom limit as payment for all your hard work, but you still have to be fair about it. When using items, you absolutely must notify hooves. Failure to do so yields a harsher punishment than a regular adopter, as you are staff and are trusted to know the rules as much as hooves, chem, and myself.


The Custom Items:
There are four types available for purchase from the item hub.

Semi-Custom Order: 15,000 Kion
Two bases can be chosen, three markings can be chosen. Each will be rolled, with the possibility that no markings may pass.

Common Custom Order: 30,000 Kion
Common only genes allowed. Maximum of three markings can be chosen; all will be present. Gene rarities may be found on the information page.

Uncommon Custom Order: 45,000 Kion
Uncommon and below genes allowed. Maximum of three UC markings can be chosen, unlimited Common; all will be present. Gene rarities may be found on the information page.

Rare Custom Order: 60,000 Kion
Rare and below genes allowed. Maximum of two Rare markings can be chosen, unlimited C-UC markings; all will be present.
Gene rarities may be found on the information page.

What is a Base?
Well, that depends on the species. Here's how we do it at Rajarshi:

A base is what lies underneath what we call markings. A custom form will usually be divided into base and markings, depending on the artist. Bases can consist of genes other than extension and agouti, such as cream. Here's a list to reference, feel free to ask if you aren't sure! If you want something that isn't listed, but doesn't stray from a combination of the accepted genes, you should be fine. These are just a lot of the possibilities, not limits. Also note that while silver and flaxen seem to go with the base coat, we tend to consider these as 'markings.'
